This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I have stayed in countless Hiltons, and none of them have been like this. It is not an issue with the chain, just this specific hotel. For starters, when we arrived at our hotel at 2:15 am, they told us that we did not have a reservation. We did, and they made us look through all of our information before they realized that we actually did have a reservation. Once they found our reservation, they gave us our room keys and we went to our room. However, the room keys to one room did not work because the battery was dead. It took about 3 times of my mother going back and forth to the front desk before they finally sent a security guard up to just use his master key to let us in. We finally got into our room at 3:15 am. They still did not fix the issue with the keys until the morning. But that was only the start and the least of our issues. Because once we got into the room, I was appalled. The bathtub drain was covered in rust, the wall had spots of dirt, and the paint was peeling off of the bathtub. There was also extremely visible mold in the sink and this mysterious black dust in the sink. It appeared to me that our bathroom had not been cleaned, and that was only further confirmed when in the morning my sister went downstairs to get a red bull and tried to charge it to our room, and they informed her that our room was vacant. She told them that it wasn’t, as we had just spent the night in it. It took about 20 minutes of conversation for the woman at the front desk to finally comprehend that we had stayed in the room and it was not in fact vacant. The first morning that we woke up in the hotel, and every morning after that, I felt very sick. I am thinking it was due to the mold infestation because once I left the hotel I improved immediately. My mother and grandmother’s toilet did not work and they had to send a maintence worker to fix it. Their thermostat was also stuck on 58 degrees until the last day, when their air conditioning did not work at all. We also decided to try their restaurant for some reason (I could not tell you why) and we had the worst interaction with a waitress that I’ve had in my entire life. She was incredibly rude, cut us off throughout the entire experience and quite literally made us feel that we had done something to upset her. When we spoke to her management about this, he said that “she was just overwhelmed.” To be clear, there were 8 people in the restaurant. When we finally were able to leave this place, I noticed on the way out that two of the handicap buttons for the doors do not work, so the hotel is also not ADA compliant. They also advertise that it has been recently renovated, and if that is true, I have no idea what could have possibly been renovated because I do not think that the bathroom has been touched since the place was built. So, in conclusion, if you value your health, competent staff, compliance with federal regulations or cleanliness, I absolutely do not recommend that you stay here. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
It was fine.
Everything ok
Staff is highly untrained, and I was overcharged by mistake for purchases made in the hotel and for my reservation.
Location
Room. Clean amd comfortable
Property is nice. Bed is comfy.
I have to say I was expecting a bit more from than I got. First off the location is great especially if you get a room on a higher floor. You can easily walk to things like the empire state plaza, museum, and arena. Unfortunately that's the only thing that's perfect. As for the staff, they are average. They don't really talk much but they where not rude. The pool was crowded but also pretty large. The breakfast unfortunately is not free and will cost a whopping $20 per person so avoid that at all costs. Also avoid overpriced restaurant food and drinks during the day. Moving to the room, this is where things start to get bad. At a first look, the room seems pretty nice untill you start to run into problems. The AC does work, but be prepared to be woken up at least 2 times during the night as it makes this weird and loud buzzing sound each time it comes on. Second, the toilet in our room decided not to flush, and almost overflowed. Third, the shower drain was also clogged because if you tried to take a shower, it would turn into a tub in just a few minutes. The shower head was also half broken and was aimed party at the curtain when I turned it on (you could barely move it). I see there is a Hampton inn just a few minutes away so I would definitely recommend that over this. I also don't suggest to expect that the toilet and shower will be broken in every room.
We checked in on Friday and turned the thermostat down to 68. It was extremely hot in the room. An hour later, the temperature had not come down. I reported it and was told someone would be up. Another hour passed and I was told the same thing. Another hour passed and I was told it would be 20 minutes. My daughter went to the front desk and was told we needed to move. So we moved. The first thing was that the light by the bed on the left didn’t work. We decided to deal with it and call the following day. Then we opened the refrigerator and someone’s leftover food was in there. We reported this and were told to set it outside the door. At 0300, I was awakened to the fire alarm. It was a false alarm but it went on for an extended period of time. My daughter had to work at the hospital today, so her sleep was interrupted. This morning, I went to open the draperies and saw something black by the bed. On closer inspection, they were men’s underwear. I reported this and questioned whether the room had been thoroughly cleaned before we came in. First food, then underwear. Had our sheets even been changed? “Tina” said she would report this to the executive housekeeper. Our linens were still not changed today, though I requested it, so for all I know these sheets are still ones someone else slept on.
How is this acceptable for a Hilton? How is this acceptable for any decent hotel?
