Poor air conditioning
Pros:

This hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly, and the breakfast is top notch.
I am greatly disappointed moving forward. I had called before arriving to Paris in regards to the air conditioning working with the record breaking heat. I was assured the the air was working just fine. Once in our room the dial was on the coolest setting 20c but felt more like 80f
We had a technician come to our room and it read 85 degrees
We were showed a different room if we wanted to change, but it wasn’t any cooler. We were offered a fan which helped, but not acceptable for the price we paid.
I was offered 10k points which is a joke considering there lowest Hilton property is not offered for 10k points and this hotel room is well over 100k points

I also requested a 5 am wake up call which never happened. We could have missed our flight, but luckily our personal alarm worked.

Uncomfortably warm hotel stay
Pros:

This hotel is a bit of an enigma. The best way to describe it is an old, regal hotel with a Hilton sheen on top, but the old comes bleeding through in a negative way. The service is classy, with doors held and a concierge, but the front desk is rarely actually helpful. Be warned if you reserve a regular room with a child or a third person they will not let you stay there or refund your reservation. This happened to us in spite of requesting a cot for our room well ahead of our stay. Instead, we had to pay for an upgrade to a suite. The suite was somewhat charming, but still very tight. Most importantly, the air conditioning in this hotel completely failed to fight the summer heat. In spite of added floor fans, all we could do was sleep on top of the sheets and sweat. The location is good in terms of being on a quiet street, but having many cafes within walking distance.

Great location and wonderful staff.

Cons:

Very hot. There is AC but not enough. Make sure to request a fan in advance for summer visits.

Yikes Hilton!
Pros:

It is baffling that this property is associated with Hilton. It does not have a functioning AC system. I stayed at 3 hotels during a heat spell in France (2 in Paris, 1 in Marseille), and Maison Astor was the only hotel incapable of even slightly cooling the room. The room never got below 90 degrees. There is no management found onsite. If you have an issue, you will be relegated to emails with long delays.

The management team, if you read closely in the reviews, keeps promising that fixes are in store soon. But this has been going on for years and they aren’t investing in the hotel to make it competitive. I also stayed at a much less expensive Marriott hotel, CitizenM, and it was leaps and bounds better than Astor. Maison Astor doesn’t have a backup generator, so we experienced one blackout for over 4 hours (not fun walking up 7 flights of stairs at 1am during a heat spell), and then again the next morning at breakfast.

If you book this hotel, just know you are rolling the dice with weather. If it is warm outside, you will be warmer inside (like much of Paris, the hotel is built to retain heat and it does this very well). If you want to use your hotel to be refreshed before going out again, do not book at Astor.

And Hilton does not help you or back you after booking: you will be up against the hotel managers (who are not present) to try and claw back possible finds and points. So after your vacation may be negatively impacted, you’re stuck up a creek.

This hotel is clearly a strategy for Hilton to expand their presence in Paris, but it is creating the inverse effect.

A/C is worthless
Pros:

We booked this hotel due to its advertised air conditioning since we were visiting during the summer. The air conditioning is a joke. It fails to cool the whole room so you are constantly uncomfortable. It’s so poor that they offer fans upon request, so they know it’s an issue. Staff are nice and breakfast is good, but if you’re looking for a respite from the heat this place is not it.

The best staff and it shows
Pros:

Where do I absolutely begin with this BEYOND fantastic hotel staff! The bonjours right at the door from the bell hop grabbing my bags and asking for passports. Americans sit! If u stand you are in their way. They want u to have a relaxed experience. Give your passports and have a juice that they provide. Since it was 100 degrees the juices hit the spot. I was helped by the beautiful Lindsey. She was so warm and helpful. Spoke English perfectly and answered all my questions. I also was greeted by a man named Aziz who also came over to say hello. The room was absolutely beautiful HOT but beautiful. As soon as I said it was hot with minutes housekeeping sent up a fan. Remember old buildings equals no AC. Jack Astor died on the titanic he designed the hotel you do the math how old the hotel is. The breakfast is on par but the staff again is brilliant. From the host to the wait staff to the ladies monitoring the buffet and let me tell u the best veggie omelette. Sweety was so accommodating. And the homemade Madeline’s of course. The whole experience was so amazing BECAUSE of the staff. The manager even came to welcome us back on one of the evenings when power had gone out due to the weather/ storm that came through. He was very kind and lovely and you can see the staff works well together because they are all so friendly to the guests. Way to go manager your team work shows. Americans remember even though it’s a Hilton (American owned) they are still French rules. They love bonjour and merci’s. They aren’t in a rush like we are. Chill out don’t talk loud in the lobby we can be embarrassing.
My favorite front door guy Charles such a gentleman and always present. The best bartender manager Gregorie and the cutest guest relations Antanin. The receptionist crew; outstanding work Nima such a hard worker, Lindsey, Aziz and sweet Logan with the cute smile I will miss you all. Thanks for the amazing hospitality and experience. America Hiltons could learn some hospitality skills from you all.

Pros:

Both great!

Cons:

The room was small, the bathroom door didn’t stay open and i used a wooden hanger to get some air into it.
The staff were exceptional- in listening, providing information and helpful. The bar staff were amusing and efficient. The night staff of two young people were friendly and informative even at 0530, prior to my leaving the hotel for the airport! Left me wanting to come back for a third visit!!! thank you.

Maybe think twice in the summer
Pros:

We stayed here for 3 nights during the last week of May 2026 and the record high May temperatures. The air conditioning did not work during the first night and it was very uncomfortable. Guest services told us that it could be 4 days until the repair company could come, but luckily they fixed it the next day. We did get a fan in the room in the meantime. However, even with the AC fixed, the room was never comfortably cool. It was better than nothing, but I would not risk staying in this hotel during the hot summer months.

The hotel staff were very nice and welcoming. Room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was basic and nothing special. Location is great for luxury shopping, but maybe not so great for the small, family boutique and small restaurant experience.

Beautiful hotel with amazing customer service
Pros:

Beautiful hotel with impeccable service. Room was lovely and well appointed. View from our room of a pretty courtyard was very nice. Breakfast was delicious the day we ate. The bar staff Cyril was quite friendly and engaging. This hotel has an international flair with guests speaking many languages and the staff well able to converse and help.

First Class, Friendly Service
Pros:

Nestled on a quiet street, this J.J. Astor designed gem delivers. Friendly, accommodating service from everyone working in any hotel, bar, restaurant, or concierge function. Delicious breakfast + eggs to order how you like them served in a beautiful, chandelier & flowers setting. I stayed 12 days, and this meal offered so much variety that I could change up my selection every day! Concierge was a wealth of information and helped me out with some pretty specifc research requests. You can walk to many attractions, and of course taxis, Uber, and Metro are available. A Monoprix market is one block away if you need groceries or department store products. Maid service was excellent -- and friendly. Gym was adequate. I appreciated that staff was always asking how my stay was going. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about my experience.

Dusty, moldy, unable to control air... worst sleep of my life
Pros:

I do not recommend staying at this hotel. During my stay, it became clear that there are serious maintenance and air‑quality issues that made the room unsafe and uncomfortable.
I booked three nights but only stayed for one. The room had visible water damage in the wallpaper and black mold around the window, which I photographed. Throughout the night, I woke up coughing every hour and experienced what felt like an allergic reaction—likely from dust or mold coming through the vents, as the air quality was noticeably poor.
The next morning, I spoke with the manager, Morganne, and explained the situation. She told me I could check out early and that she would refund the remaining two nights. However, she only refunded one. When Amex Travel followed up, she denied ever agreeing to refund both nights, which was surprising given how clear she was when I checked out. She claimed she offered to allow me to change rooms, however this was never provided as an option. I’m also not sure how that could have helped the situation because it was central heating and air.
Between the mold, the air‑quality issues, and the unprofessional handling of the refund, I strongly recommend choosing another hotel. This is nowhere near a 4‑star experience.

Excellent Staff, Nice Location
Pros:

The Good - Nice location; quite street; comfortable bed; great breakfast buffet; thoughtful, helpful, and kind staff. I felt so cared for despite only being there 2 nights for a quick business stay. I arrived at 1p - a couple of hours early for check-in, but the staff let me check in early (for free - thank you!). The staff helped me get a new bag when my bag broke because I was busy with work. When I checked out at 4am to catch a taxi to the airport, the staff member offered me a latte.

The "Could be Better" - despite saying they have A/C, I do not think they do. My room should have been cooler based on the thermometer, but it was roasting. I had to keep my window open to stay cool during a 70 degree day (staying on the 5th floor). The rooms are really tiny - I do not have a lot of bathroom things, but couldn't even store my toothbrush in the space. The desk was mostly full with coffee and tea supplies, so I barely could open my laptop on it.

Very Disappointing Stay
Pros:

I just concluded a 4 night stay at the Maison Astor in Paris which I booked through the American Express Hotel Collection. To say that my stay was a disappointment would be an understatement. The air conditioner in my room (or that of my traveling companions 8 rooms in total) did not work. We were not notified of this prior to our arrival, nor were we informed of it at check in. We each thought that maybe we were doing something wrong and asked the front desk for help. It was only at this point were notified that they were having a “technical issue” with the hotel’s air conditioning and were waiting on a part which they would have the next day (we checked in on a Sunday). I do understand that unforeseen things happen, however my issue is with the poor manner in which management dealt with the situation. We should have been contacted prior to our stay, apprised of the situation and given the option to make other arrangements. At the very least, we should have been made aware of the situation upon check in. I also think that management should have been proactively communicating with guests about the situation and what steps were being taken to remedy the situation along with an expected timeline. None of this occurred. The air conditioning in my room finally started to work on my final night at the hotel. The hotel did proved a fan be placed in my room after the first night at my request. While I do appreciate the fan that was placed in my room, my room is not comfortable at night and I slept poorly three of the four nights at the hotel. Management promised one of my traveling companions a credit of 50 Euro per night in consideration for the inconvenience, but no such credit was provided. At check out (early in the morning), the front dest person said they knew nothing about it and did not have the authority to provide the credit. Needless to say, I will be escalating this matter with Hilton Corporate and American Express.
