Beautiful hotel with impeccable service. Room was lovely and well appointed. View from our room of a pretty courtyard was very nice. Breakfast was delicious the day we ate. The bar staff Cyril was quite friendly and engaging. This hotel has an international flair with guests speaking many languages and the staff well able to converse and help.
Nestled on a quiet street, this J.J. Astor designed gem delivers. Friendly, accommodating service from everyone working in any hotel, bar, restaurant, or concierge function. Delicious breakfast + eggs to order how you like them served in a beautiful, chandelier & flowers setting. I stayed 12 days, and this meal offered so much variety that I could change up my selection every day! Concierge was a wealth of information and helped me out with some pretty specifc research requests. You can walk to many attractions, and of course taxis, Uber, and Metro are available. A Monoprix market is one block away if you need groceries or department store products. Maid service was excellent -- and friendly. Gym was adequate. I appreciated that staff was always asking how my stay was going. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about my experience.
I do not recommend staying at this hotel. During my stay, it became clear that there are serious maintenance and air‑quality issues that made the room unsafe and uncomfortable.
I booked three nights but only stayed for one. The room had visible water damage in the wallpaper and black mold around the window, which I photographed. Throughout the night, I woke up coughing every hour and experienced what felt like an allergic reaction—likely from dust or mold coming through the vents, as the air quality was noticeably poor.
The next morning, I spoke with the manager, Morganne, and explained the situation. She told me I could check out early and that she would refund the remaining two nights. However, she only refunded one. When Amex Travel followed up, she denied ever agreeing to refund both nights, which was surprising given how clear she was when I checked out. She claimed she offered to allow me to change rooms, however this was never provided as an option. I’m also not sure how that could have helped the situation because it was central heating and air.
Between the mold, the air‑quality issues, and the unprofessional handling of the refund, I strongly recommend choosing another hotel. This is nowhere near a 4‑star experience.
The Good - Nice location; quite street; comfortable bed; great breakfast buffet; thoughtful, helpful, and kind staff. I felt so cared for despite only being there 2 nights for a quick business stay. I arrived at 1p - a couple of hours early for check-in, but the staff let me check in early (for free - thank you!). The staff helped me get a new bag when my bag broke because I was busy with work. When I checked out at 4am to catch a taxi to the airport, the staff member offered me a latte.
The "Could be Better" - despite saying they have A/C, I do not think they do. My room should have been cooler based on the thermometer, but it was roasting. I had to keep my window open to stay cool during a 70 degree day (staying on the 5th floor). The rooms are really tiny - I do not have a lot of bathroom things, but couldn't even store my toothbrush in the space. The desk was mostly full with coffee and tea supplies, so I barely could open my laptop on it.
I just concluded a 4 night stay at the Maison Astor in Paris which I booked through the American Express Hotel Collection. To say that my stay was a disappointment would be an understatement. The air conditioner in my room (or that of my traveling companions 8 rooms in total) did not work. We were not notified of this prior to our arrival, nor were we informed of it at check in. We each thought that maybe we were doing something wrong and asked the front desk for help. It was only at this point were notified that they were having a “technical issue” with the hotel’s air conditioning and were waiting on a part which they would have the next day (we checked in on a Sunday). I do understand that unforeseen things happen, however my issue is with the poor manner in which management dealt with the situation. We should have been contacted prior to our stay, apprised of the situation and given the option to make other arrangements. At the very least, we should have been made aware of the situation upon check in. I also think that management should have been proactively communicating with guests about the situation and what steps were being taken to remedy the situation along with an expected timeline. None of this occurred. The air conditioning in my room finally started to work on my final night at the hotel. The hotel did proved a fan be placed in my room after the first night at my request. While I do appreciate the fan that was placed in my room, my room is not comfortable at night and I slept poorly three of the four nights at the hotel. Management promised one of my traveling companions a credit of 50 Euro per night in consideration for the inconvenience, but no such credit was provided. At check out (early in the morning), the front dest person said they knew nothing about it and did not have the authority to provide the credit. Needless to say, I will be escalating this matter with Hilton Corporate and American Express.
Really helpful staff. Great choice at breakfast. Relaxing bar area to chill.
Nothing
This was our second stay at the Maison Astor and it was as wonderful as our first experience. Everyone on staff is professional, courteous and tentative. If you need ANYTHING during your stay, do not hesitate to ask Stephane at the concierge-he goes above and beyond. The rooms are clean and well kept. The location is perfect walking distance to many metro stops and a short 15 minute walk to Galeries Lafayette and Pritemps. The breakfast selection is huge and everyone can find something they want. We will return next time we are in Paris!
My wife and I spent five days at the Maison Astor last week and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the property and our stay. The concierge(s) and staff were courteous, pleasant and always helpful from arrival through departure when they provided us unexpected breakfast boxes for the trip to the airport. Our room, while modestly sized, was well appointed. It’s only drawback was facing Rue d’Astorg when there was much activity for delivery and work overnight, more than we anticipated. I would recommend the hotel for all its merits, including a very convenient location to access many of the superb experiences Paris has to offer.
The breakfast was fantastic and really good service from the staff!
Smell of sewer outside the room 212, constant.
Fabulous location, beautiful accommodations, and wonderful attentive staff. We were able to walk to all the major sightseeing areas from this hotel. The concierges were especially helpful.
This hotel had a lot of potential but fell short of expectations. It’s a decent location and the rooms and lobby are beautiful. The room is small yet the bathroom is incredibly large by comparison, with a lot of dead space that could have been better allocated to make the room less tight. Our room also had a few moths; I killed about two a day during our four-day stay. The shower is poorly designed and you end up with a lot of water on the bathroom floor no matter how you position the shower head. The glass partition is too narrow to keep the water inside the shower/tub. It’s also an incredibly tall tub which makes it harder to get out of when the bathroom floor is all wet. There is no outlet in the bathroom (or hair dryer provided by the hotel). I brought an electric toothbrush that I had to plug in the room because of the lack of outlets in the bathroom, and when I wanted to dry my hair, it had to be done in the room because there is no outlet in the bathroom. The staff was ok but no one was friendly. And the breakfast gets crowded (or the dining room is too small to accommodate all the potential people). On two days, we had to wait for a table when we went down for breakfast at around 9am. The breakfast also needs more staff. When it was busy, I was unable to get a waiter to place an order, and I was not informed that I could order eggs (fried, omelet, or scrambled) in addition to the buffet. I only figured it out because I overheard the table next to us ordering it one morning. Overall, the hotel is ok, but if I came back to Paris, I’d stay elsewhere.
The overall experience was terrible. The staff are difficult, the service was terrible, the room service wasn’t good, the room cleaning was bad, they didn’t replenish conditioner or the q tips or change or clean or properly hang body towels. Rooms smelled damp, fridge completely empty, though water is provided. Room service has a tray charge of 15 euros and by 10:05 am they’ve run out of food. It was bizarrely bad. Management arrogant and complicated. It was like 2-3 star place.
Just a top notch hotel! All employees were so friendly and kind from start to finish. Daily breakfast was magnificent. Our room 708, was perfect for two people plenty of space, nice clarins products in bathroom, nespresso coffee in room, awesome amenities all around. They cleaned the room multiple times each day which we didn’t even think it needed. It was above and beyond. Michael in concierge a complete gentlemen helping us find a room to suit our needs. Leila in the restaurant going above and beyond writing down instructions to get to the st ouen market by Train. She was so sweet and patient. We stayed at the Hilton Paris opera in August and happy we chose the maison Astor curio this trip, it exceeded our expectations. Location A+
Superb hotel. The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. We went to Paris for our 25th anniversary and they had a bottle of champagne and macaroons as a surprise in the room! Beyond our expectations!!
We spent 8 nights at this property. Warm welcome at the front desk and the door man took care of our suitcases.
Our room was very spacious (which is not the norm in Paris) and clean, I just wish it had more closet space. Breakfast was included in our reservation and it was excellent, many options to choose from, and made to order omeletes. The crepes and pastries were delicious.Prices are very reasonable at the restaurant for dinner.
Hotel is located in a quiet street, however, it is close to the Metro station, the bus and walking distance to many places of interest.
Concierge was very attentive and helpful. The gym is quite small, but doable.
Antonin, (Guest Relation) was on top of things and made sure our needs were met. Staff is wonderful. I love the fact that they provide a water bottle and refill stations. I would definetly stay here again.
very nice and quiet location
The shower can be sometimes too hot and sometime too cold

I like the coziness, how helpful the staff were
I liked the location, it's located near grocery stores, boutiques, it's central
The Maison Astor hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel in a lovely part of Paris. I spent many hours researching our stay and couldn’t be more pleased with our final choice. Our suite was beautiful with thoughtful storage and a lovely terrace. The breakfast was an amazing start to our day, but the stand out was the amazing staff who anticipated our needs and were professional in every way. I want to thank the manager who recognized our wedding anniversary and the front desk staff who made any request we had seem their pleasure to assist. When I return to Paris, this lovely hotel will be my family’s first choice!
