Pros:

It’s location on Washington Circle is perfect. It’s a very brief walk to the Foggy Bottom metro stop and walking distance to the Kennedy Center. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable.

Noisy hotel - outweighs all positives
Pros:

Positives:
Clean
Modern decor recently refurbished
Comfy bed and pillow
Nice gym well appointed
Guest laundry
Large bathroom great shower
Attentive staff

So what’s the problem????NOISY like sooo noisy. The hotel is bounded by three toads and one leads to the George Washington Emergency Hospital- so there are many sirens and street noise. But the worst culprit is the in room A/C. It vibrates and makes a large audible ‘thud’ and hissing sound as the thermostat kicks in. I turned my A/C off thinking I would rather be hot but then if A/C is in use in the room above or below you it still is noisy - the sound literally travels through the building A/C deducts - incredibly poor engineering design. I left the hotel exhausted

Polyester bedding. That is not a four star hotel experience.
Pros:

It’s a great location if you are visiting or helping your kids move into GW… The bummer is that the bedding that is throughout this is polyester… So even when the AC is cranked to 64° you will be sweating all night long from the polyester sheets and the polyester inserts. I understand that it’s obviously cheaper to do that. Maybe then 100% cotton, but this is no way to furnish our hotel long-term. It may be important to everyone because people don’t understand the reason why they’re sleeping so terribly cause they’re sleeping in plastic and when you’re running around town andhaving active days, your sleep is incredibly important. Again, sleeping and polyester is just not comforting. If these guys want to be a four-star hotel, you cannot use plastic wire sheets.

Pros:

The staff was nice

Cons:

I was placed in a room that was facing another building where a guy constantly was in his window doing perverted things so I couldn't sit on the balcony at all. The facility seemed very outdated and didn't even include a microwave without paying for it. Further, I left my driver's license in this hotel and have called several times with no return call.

Polished appearance but missing basic elements of comfort
Pros:

This hotel was not for me, unfortunately. It has a modern look and feel but misses on many of the basic comforts.

Cons:
Noise: Noise from outdoors is constant, especially ambulances headed to the hospital across the circle. We were on the 5th floor and I imagine it would be worse on lower floors. Noise from adjacent rooms and the hallway is common.

HVAC: The air conditioner made a crazy loud noise every 20 mins or so that woke me up continuously from sleep and startled me when I was awake (this comes up in other reviews so I don't think it's an anomaly).

Bathroom: The bathroom has bright motion sensor lights. If you get up to use the bathroom at night, it is extremely bright. If you like to take relaxing showers, be aware that there's a very bright LED directly above the showerhead. Automatic lights shouldn't be the default setting, especially bright ones. There's no exhaust fan, so noises are apparent from outside the closed bathroom, and post-shower the whole room gets very humid.

Communication: I asked in advance of our stay if there was a mini fridge that was safe for medication in the room. I was told yes. This was not true, it is a bar cooler that sits at 45-50 degrees and is specifically marked as not food and med safe. They did send up a fridge after I arrived and discovered this, but I feel that this info should have been well known to the manager that gave me incorrect info since this is a common guest need.

Parking: Valet parking costs $66 per night and the valet was unable to park a manual transmission car, so we had to move our car ourselves. We still got charged for this. If you drive stick, you may want to keep this in mind.

Pros:
The room was super clean upon arrival.
There was a garment steamer, which is nice to have instead of an iron.
I liked the selection of coffee and tea, and that a separate hot kettle was available in the room, plus nice ceramic coffee and tea cups, not paper ones.
The water pressure in the shower was good.
The cinema on the ground floor is pretty neat, not something I see commonly in hotels.

I feel like this is a growing trend: hotels that look upscale and polished on the outside but don't really consider the guest experience in the rooms, which is where you spend most of your time in the hotel. I personally would much rather have a fully functional and comfortable room than other amenities that don't get used often.
