Street noise - sirens, traffic
A lovely bright and clean hotel located close to the harbour area of Vancouver. Perfect for an overnight stay in advance of our Alaskan cruise.
This is a very nice hotel located in the best possible location downtown in one of the most beautiful cities in the world (next to the Rosewood and a block from the Fairmont). Unfortunately, the old Four Season across the street is being taken down to the ground one floor at a time in a demolition lasting several months and it is extremely loud. There is nothing the hotel can do about that. We were there for a week in a suite on the 11th floor facing the demolition (60 meters away) and I watched it often with fascination from our window. The hotel is high-volume luxury hotel with the expense to match (but cheaper than the Fairmont or Rosewood) and the cleanliness, service and facility is nice. Our suite was completely renovated, huge and the bed was superb. Note - Vancouver has great food and the little restaurant in the hotel was surpassingly good! We ate there one night and one breakfast and were very surprised. Also note, like all big downtown hotels, there is heavy high-end cruise traffic that stays here before the many great Vancouver-Alaska cruises that dock at the beautiful Canada Center cruise port 400 yards away. This is both a plus and a minus, depending on your perspective.
The breakfast situation at all high-end Marriotts is always annoying to me. You have to be very careful on your booking that it is included if you want it. We were paying 800 USD dollars a night for 7 nights - that is 5 grand in US dollars for a wonderful week in a wonderful hotel. Yet I did not get breakfast included! I could have sworn I booked it that way, and the hotel was very firm about it and would not budge. They kept saying, "Call Booking," Anyway, it was annoying to watch cruise groups paying far less to stay there 2 nights get breakfast free when it cost me 60 bucks. But that said, the breakfast we did buy was outstanding. That is a surprisingly good little restaurant in the hotel.

The bed and bedding was very comfortable, the bathroom bright and spacious. Even though the room overlooked a busy road the space was quiet when the doors were locked. I always like to be able to have some fresh air, so the fact that we could open the sliders to the little balcony was great.
The bathroom needs a night light, and it would have been nice to have plugs/ UBC chargers on both sides of the bed.
