This hotel merits its excellent rating. There are so many people to thank for this great experience, from the front desk to the hostess at the excellent bar and restaurant. But it’s the “invisible team” of housekeepers that truly make this hotel shine. So a huge thank you to Sonam who kept our room ready for an AD photo shoot!
This was a 60th birthday. Rico took amazingly good care of us- really he was just perfect. Food and drinks were great- the coffee was outstanding.
Rico, was on point all night. From drinks to apps to entrees. The service was excellent.
I often frequent Newbury Street Bar and Rico made my last trip to the restaurant amazing. Rico is alway attentive. Knows the menu well and remembers my preferences. Overall great experience.
Lovely experience! From valet, to check-in, to departure. I am a meticulous person and everything at this hotel is exceptionally maintained. The rooms are updated, fresh, comfortable, and very clean. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel was completely booked while we were there but this went unnoticed, customers were quiet and courteous of others. The location is absolutely perfect! We can't wait to come back!
Property was amazing and central
We are frequent guests at The Newbury Boston. While the entire staff is wonderfully friendly, Larysa at The Street Bar is our absolute favorite! Meeting her is always such a delight—she is incredibly warm, kind, and professional. She truly makes our visits special.

We always look forward to our time at The Newbury. The hotel has become almost home away from home. And each time we return, we leave with memories of even more wonderful service and experiences than the time before! Just finished a 3-night stay at The Newbury Boston., which we booked through Amex FHR.
The good: location is fantastic, rooms are spotless, housekeeping is excellent, and staff is mostly helpful and friendly.
The not-so-good: we booked a suite and were originally shown a room on the 11th floor which was very dark and faced a brick building. We requested another room and were moved to a much better room facing the park on the 3rd floor. Neither room was worth the $1k price point but at least the second room was an improvement.
It should be noted the elevators are very slow and the wait was 5-10 minutes no matter the time of day.
The bad: Contessa has almost zero vegan options... not even oatmeal which was odd. Even the acai bowl had milk in it! I ended up ordering a slice of focaccia, a laughable fruit plate (which was $20), and orange juice.
Room service was no better in terms of option...one night I ordered the rigatoni marinara clearly stating that I am a vegan and it arrived an hour later covered in parmesan cheese.
None of the above would have been a big deal at a $500-$600 price point, but at $1k per night our experience was disappointing. I doubt we'll stay at the Newbury again.
Honestly, I have been going to the Newbury for many years and the hospitality has honestly gotten worse over the years. It feels like many of the workers here are very disingenuous. However, we dined at the Street Bar for lunch, and our waitress Larysa was amazing! She was very kind and took the time to make sure that everything was just the way we liked it. We truly appreciated her personality and all of her caring hospitality. While I don’t love the overall experience I had this time, I did love Larysa!!!!
Mariyan was fantastic and the crab cakes were too! Beautiful spot and view of the Boston gardens.
Excellently informative and attentive service from both Tyler and Ashli at the bar. Could not have asked for a better evening — highly recommend!
