Next door to the Alamo…
Pros:

We got there very late, so we didn’t encounter anyone upon arrival, besides the valet guys. They were very nice, but put our license plate number in wrong, which caused a bit of confusion the next day. I hated the fact that there was no option to self-park. The valet situation made it very stressful trying to get everything out of the car, especially because it was so late.

The room was spacious and was right across from the Alamo, so it was cool to be able to see that out of our window. The bathroom was a good size also, but it had sliding doors that you could see the light through, and they were right by the beds, so that was sleep-disturbing for my family.

I wasn’t a fan of the double beds. They were very small, especially for my 12 and 13 year old boys, who were less than thrilled to be in that close of quarters to sleep, haha. (That may have been my fault at booking).

One other thing that we were less than thrilled about…the shower head was dirty and full of soap scum…definitely didn’t expect that for the price I paid for the room.

All in all, if you’re into history, looking for somewhere that’s literally right next to the Alamo, this might be the place for you. I would opt for something a little more modern next time with a better parking situation.

Lovely
Pros:

We had a very positive experience with Rudy at the front desk, who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, was accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay at the hotel was satisfactory. His responsiveness and helpfulness were noteworthy, and he maintained a high level of professionalism. The hotel's interior and exterior appearance greatly impressed us, but what truly stood out was the breathtaking view, particularly at night, which provided a serene and peaceful ambiance. Additionally, the hotel's robust security measures, including a 24-hour police presence in front of the Alamo building with Tahoes SUVs and constant monitoring, made us feel secure and at ease.

Cons:

Everything

Exceptional Hospitality and Genuine Kindness
Pros:

We had an outstanding experience and wanted to recognize three exceptional employees: Johnny, Brandon, and Marquis.

My father is a veteran who served in two branches of the military. He is now 100% disabled and unable to walk. Without the kindness, compassion, and assistance of these gentlemen, he would not have been able to visit the Alamo.

Johnny, Brandon, and Marquis went above and beyond to make sure my father could enjoy the experience. They provided a wheelchair and helped by parking us right up front, making everything accessible and stress-free. Their willingness to help and genuine care made a lasting impression on our family.

Customer service like this is rare, and these employees deserve recognition for the difference they made. They are a tremendous asset to the hotel and helped turn our visit into a truly memorable experience.

Thank you for your outstanding hospitality. We will definitely be back, and I will gladly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Antonio.

Checked Into a Haunted Hotel… and the Ghosts Ghosted Me
Pros:

Haunted Hype Worth the Stay 👻🏨

After seeing countless videos about the Emily Morgan Hotel being one of the most haunted hotels in Texas, I knew I had to see it for myself. So, in October 2025, my boyfriend and I booked a stay for Halloween weekend—the perfect time to test our luck with the paranormal.

From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by the hotel’s exterior. The historic architecture, gargoyles, and gothic details give the building an unforgettable presence. Knowing the property was once associated with a former medical facility only added to the intrigue and history of the experience.

Our room was comfortable and modern, which is expected since the hotel has been beautifully renovated over the years. While the room itself wasn’t particularly themed or spooky, it was clean, well-maintained, and had some of the best water pressure I’ve experienced in a hotel. The beds were also incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day exploring San Antonio.

The only disappointment? No ghostly encounters. Unfortunately, we weren’t staying on one of the hotel’s reportedly haunted floors, so my paranormal dreams remained unfulfilled. I was definitely a little disappointed, although my boyfriend was perfectly happy with the lack of supernatural activity.

Overall, the Emily Morgan Hotel delivers a unique blend of history, charm, comfort, and a touch of mystery. Even without any hauntings, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely return. Next time, however, this travel baddie will be requesting one of the haunted floors—because if I’m staying in one of Texas’s most famous haunted hotels, I at least want a chance to meet the residents. 👻

Excellent stay, will make it my number one lodging when returning to San Antonio!
Pros:

I have always wanted to stay at the Emily Morgan hotel. Very historic building right across from the Alamo. The beds are very comfortable. And the staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I especially enjoyed the huge bathtub.

Cons:

I had a hard time adjusting the air conditioner. We had to turn it off to keep from freezing. While my family was thrilled with the cold, I’m easily frozen. 😬

5 star service!!
Pros:

This is “the best location” to visit the historical Alamo. It is close to the Riverway mall and the riverwalk too. All within walking distance.
This is a historic building and a nice hotel. The rooms are well appointed and have all the comforts that you expect at a Double tree Hilton. The service and care here are spectacular!! The general manager is AMAZING!! The staff (Donald, Kelly etc) are super friendly and helpful. The rooms a spacious and clean. Even though it is an older property it is well maintained. I highly recommend this hotel. Not forgetting the delicious cookies!! 😁
Being that we are diamond members, we were truly recognized for our loyalty. Thank you to the team. Our stay was very special and memorable. Will be back.
