British charm
Pros:

Jon, doorman was wonderfully helpful.

Cons:

Seems to advertise rooftop bar. That did NOT exist. It was next door and guests of the Rubens did NOT have access to it. Misleading...???

Exceptional Hospitality
Pros:

After staying on the outskirts of London it was a welcome change to call The Rubens home for a few days. Each time I entered or left the hotel it felt like home because of Jan’s sincere and warm welcome or ‘have a wonderful day’ parting encouragement. The front desk staff and bellmen were equally kind and helpful, particularly Robert. Thank you, gentlemen, for making me feel welcome and cared for.
Mr. Robert

Very pleasant hotel experience
Pros:

We had a lovely experience at The Rubens at the Palace. It had old world charm and wonderful customer service.
Joe, our receptionist, was terrific from the moment we arrived and helped make our stay very pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved having tea every afternoon in the hotel as well as dinner in The English Grill. Jan, the doorman was always pleasant and so helpful to us. He greeted us with a big smile each day.
The hotel was in the heart of the city and walking distance to many sights. Such a wonderful place to stay during our time in London.

Another Wonderful Stay at Rubens
Pros:

We had another wonderful stay at Rubens by the Palace, this time for one night, and it was our third visit.

As we regularly travel to London from Bath for day trips, we often choose to stay overnight, and Rubens has become one of our favourite and most reliable hotels. The location is absolutely fantastic — so central and convenient, with everything feeling within easy reach. Even when we’re heading a little further across London, it’s so easy to get around by taxi, making it a perfect base for exploring the city.

The hotel itself always feels welcoming, comfortable and special, which is why we’re so happy to keep coming back.

A particular mention must go to Shristi, who was absolutely wonderful throughout our entire stay. She was warm, attentive and incredibly helpful, and really made us feel well looked after.

Thank you again to the whole team for another lovely stay. We look forward to returning again soon!

Simply Wonderful
Pros:

My wife and I have previously enjoyed Afternoon Tea at the Rubens, on this occasion we chose to also stop over for the night at the hotel. I'll review the Afternoon Tea separately, but suffice to say it was wonderful. In respect of the hotel, I can honestly say for the first time in many years we felt like we were experiencing hospitality the way it used to be, warm, engaging, thoughtful and personal. From the booking process to checking out, everything just works, seamlessly. We were always made to feel individual, as though we were the only guest in the hotel, the politeness and the professionalism of all staff was exemplary, and a testament to both the recruitment and training activity the management operate. The room itself was splendid, we were very fortunate to be upgraded and our room felt both opulent & luxurious but not pretentious, contemporary facilities but with the feeling of a bygone age of travel. Special mention to several of the people we were lucky enough to meet, firstly, John, for 46 years a valet at the Reubens, who parked our car and helped with our luggage, something I would ordinarily feel uncomfortable with, but John did it with such dignity and calmness it was an amazing first encounter on arrival. To the beautifully attired doorman, who's name escapes me, thank you for your courtesy and engaging conversation, a great humourist too... to all the reception team, for whom nothing is too much trouble, who clearly take real pride in their roles and it stands out a mile, from the presentation of their smart uniforms to their smiles and the language they use. The entire hotel exudes comfort and tranquillity, a place to escape the clamour of the busy streets of London, a haven of great food, fine wine and comfort. The Afternoon Tea as I've already mentioned, was sublime and those who made it so (Gabriel and Rakhi) I will thank in a separate review. Thanks to all who contributed to our short, but memorable experience, this will be our go to location whenever in London.

Amazing 5 star affordable luxury in the heart of the city
Pros:

Great value for money. Location was perfect for where I was working that evening. 4 minutes from Victoria station. The room itself was a great size single room and big enough to accommodate my large suitcase. Electric blinds, complimentary water, kettle, coffee machine. Lovely bed linen, great shower and Floris products in the bathroom. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff.

Cons:

It was noisy in the corridors but I always travel with earplugs so didn't really affect me. There is a discretionary 15% hotel charge on check out which I wasn't told about but you can opt out of paying it.

Attentive to detail
Pros:

The staff at The Rubens was fantastic, from the Bellhop (Pascal) to our Receptionist (Alicja), their attention to detail was superb. The room was comfortable and clean. The Rubens was in a great location, across from the Royal Mews and just down the road from Buckingham Palace. Also a nice walk to Trafalgar Square.

A Royal Family Treat , generous and delicious
Pros:

The Reubens is a lovely gem of a place to fully experience afternoon tea. The generous portions, offering so much choice that we had to take what was left home. The sandwiches delicious the kids favourite was the chicken encrusted with toasted almonds, mine the smoke salmon sandwich was exploding with flavour and texture. Always a winner the warm freshly baked scones with organic strawberry jam and real clotted cream. All the pastries were beautifully decorative, light and packed with flavour the strawberry cake was our favourite. A truly special experience for the whole family right by Buckingham Palace. We also loved the detailed service which was outstanding, welcoming and super friendly. We asked for a tea that wasn’t on the menu and a member of the team knew how to make it and delighted the kids and me with the resourceful approach to our request. Somehow they produced their own special version and it did not disappoint. We highly recommend this great location for the whole family, and friends. A tradition we will be embracing again soon. Apparently they update the menu every season with autumn around the corner our curiosity has been ignited. Thank you for the amazing day out to all the team.
