Air conditioning failure ruined an expensive trip
Pros:

I chose this hotel specifically because I was told the air conditioning worked properly. Before booking, I even called to make sure of it, as the entire purpose of my trip was to buy over £1,500 worth of exclusive chocolate that had to be stored in a cool room.
For the first two days everything was fine. Then, as the outside temperature increased, the room became extremely hot. I woke up drenched in sweat and immediately realized something was wrong. The hotel inspected the air conditioning but insisted it was "working" and simply blamed the warmer weather. If the room becomes too hot to sleep in and too hot to protect expensive chocolate, then the air conditioning is clearly not doing its job.
I spent the entire morning distressed instead of enjoying the plans I had made. I had to cancel a lunch reservation because I was stuck dealing with this situation, worrying that my chocolate had already been ruined.
What disappointed me most was not only the problem itself, but the attitude. Instead of trying to help, the manager immediately became defensive and suggested that I should have stored the chocolate in the minibar. The minibar refrigerator was far too small for over 40 chocolate bars and was not an appropriate solution. Despite my repeated requests, the hotel refused to offer any suitable place to store them.
The only bright spot was Neil and Pablo. They treated me with kindness, empathy and professionalism. Neil even said the hotel should help me find a solution, and Pablo showed genuine understanding when I returned later. They are an asset to this hotel and deserve recognition.
Sadly, because of how this situation was handled, what should have been a wonderful stay ended with unnecessary stress, tears and disappointment.

Refused To Replace Custom Retainer Thrown Away by Staff
Pros:

The location was great, the room was adequate, and the value was good. Unfortunately, this review is not about any of those things.

After returning home for our second night at the hotel, I noticed that the housekeeping had accidentally thrown away my retainer (custom dental device). I've traveled enough to realize that hey - accidents happen sometimes. After alerting the hotel, returning home, and exchanging a series of emails with The Rembrandt (and Sarova, the owner), they refused to take any responsibility.

They repeatedly said they asked the housekeeper, who said she didn't do it, and said it was their policy to not throw away guest items. At no point was I insinuating anything intentional or malicious: an item of mine was thrown away by accident, and I asked for a reimbursement (and would provide a receipt). This ended up being a $235 USD cost to me.

In a city with plenty of great hotels, I would not recommend The Rembrandt, simply because if something happens (even an accident), they will NOT take responsibility and make things right. It's not worth running that risk in a city full of other options that will actually take care of their guests.

Great value. Will return
Pros:

I have stayed here before. Great value for money. Lovely staff. Nice food, particularly dinner. Brilliant location

Cons:

The swimming pool was a bit disappointing and cost £15 per person. The floor is extremely slippy and you have a bit of walk on the slippy floor including going down steps before reaching the pool.

Location, staff (in particular the concierge).

Cons:

Gym is small and shouldn't be charged extra. Coffee machine at breakfast should serve proper espresso and not instant coffee.

Dishonest and took our money AND rented to someone else
Pros:

Horrendous. The folks here are dishonest. I booked a room the night before my flight so that we would have a room ready when we arrived at 9 am after our flight arrived. I told them this in my reservation so they knew why we weren’t checking in at the night of the reservation. When we arrived, they told us our room wasn’t ready. I asked why if I paid for the room just so it would be ready for us at arrival. They didn’t have an answer. So basically they got the fee from
Us AND they rented it to someone else. We had to wait over an hour with grumpy kids to check in. They didn’t give us our money back. Dishonest.

Pros:

The location is great.

Cons:

It is old and outdated and not a 4star rating worth. Advertise to have parking but Inhad to pay £53 for parking 10minutes walk away.

Location, Location, Location!
Pros:

The location is excellent. It is a 5-minute walk to the South Kensington Station; the V&A Museum is across the street, it is a quick walk to Albert Hall, Kensington Park and Hyde Park, and 8-minute walk to Harrods. The rooms are not huge, but manageable.

Highly Recommend
Pros:

We had a fabulous week at The Rembrandt. The hotel is located close to the South Kensington tube, loads of restaurants, and museums (including the Victoria & Albert), and a short walk to Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall. The staff was so helpful; the atmosphere friendly. Our executive king room was perfect for two, was cleaned well every day, and had enough room in the bathroom for storage of items. Our request for a room with a shower instead of a shower/tub combo was accommodated. Breakfast was included with our reservation and the buffet had a large variety, including a dedicated gluten-free station, which I used to make my toast. The real gem is the restaurant food. We were tired after a day of sightseeing in the heat and would come back to the hotel in the late afternoon to eat our main meal. The food was freshly prepared and delicious every day! There were also so many choices for those with special food needs. We really appreciated that the hotel had everything we needed.

Fond remembrance of the Rembrandt
Pros:

From the start the doorman helped out and made us feel welcome. Quick check in, up to the room. Developed a sore knee so even the short trip to the room at the back gave it some trouble, but they were not to know. Spacious room with everything you need. Neat and tidy, lovely and cool for summer, info on TV, good shower. Full breakfast included for us, a bar and casual meals for dinner. My husband is a walker so loved the proximity to the parks. Shopping down the road and Harrods one stop away. V and A Museum and Natural History across the road. Ice cream, cake shop and pub within 100 mtrs. Big bus stop right outside. We loved it here.

Cons:

I could have used some conditioner ( built into the shampoo is no good.), and a shower hat. Oh and being summer we only sleep with a sheet on, the bed had a dooner so I did have to ask for a sheet but that was no problem.
