Consistent Great Service
Pros:

The last time I visited was 5 years ago, and the standard remained high like I remembered. Good old fashioned hotel service, where friendliness and little touches shine through. Room was clean and comfortable. Would not think twice to stay again. Thank you.

The Beach Bar - Team Social Event Review
Pros:

We visited The Montague for an after-work team social event, where we hosted food and drinks for our group. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. The BBQ was exceptional and, without doubt, the best venue food we have had at a team event.

The staff were outstanding - friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. They ensured our guests knew exactly where to go and were always on hand to help with anything we needed.

As the organiser of the event, I particularly want to thank India, who was extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process. She was accommodating to all our requirements and, upon arrival, made sure everything was set up exactly as requested. We also had the pleasure of meeting Sonia, and the efforts of her and the rest of the team certainly did not go unnoticed.

I would highly recommend The Montague to anyone looking to host a corporate or social event in London. We had a wonderful experience and would happily return.

Wonderful venue for a Summer Party!
Pros:

This lovely hotel hosted our work summer party and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was welcoming, professional and attentive, helping to make the event a real success. The beach bar theme was great fun and created a relaxed atmosphere that everyone enjoyed. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the organisation throughout was seamless. Nothing was too much trouble, and the support we received before and during the event was outstanding. A huge thank you to everyone involved for helping create such a memorable evening.

Above average but not a true boutique experience
Pros:

I'd like to give this 3.5 stars but I can't so rounding up because staff was hospitable. I came to London on a business trip and decided to stay a couple of extra nights. Since it was my birthday I thought I would treat myself, and the reviews were extremely positive. So the positives: on a very quiet street, so you won't have to deal with noise, or even the traffic that accompanies busier areas of London. Individually controlled aircon, there were some lux amenities, robe and slippers, tea, coffee. There is a large common area with newspapers, easy to relax there, even if you have already checked out (I did not feel like I was intruding). The day you check in you can get breakfast for 1/2 price (but I did not try it). In general everyone was very welcoming. And I was presented with a lovely treat for my birthday.
The cons: some mentioned it was a bit dated. I have to agree, it seems to be riding on its old English feel, but something about that feels extremely passé. Room is small but I had a similarly small room at the IBIS so…. That was not a deal breaker. The room is quite small but many rooms in London are. The Jazz bar was quite sad. It was single sax player, playing along to a sort of muzak recording with one speaker. The gym is really NOT a gym. There are two peloton machines, and no mats to do any kind of floor workout (nor the space). Lots of ambient light in the room, and from under the doorway, bring your sleeping mask. No mini bar in room.
Neutral: I saw some complaining about the location. There is a very convenient bus stop, but yes the tube is a bit further, and you are close to some attractions but not others. All in all I felt it was a bit expensive for what it offers but London in June is VERY expensive. I still think you can do better.

Exceptional
Pros:

I've stayed at The Montague on the Gardens several times now, and there is a reason I keep coming back. It captures everything that makes a classic British hotel so special: timeless elegance, old-world charm, and exceptional hospitality.

What truly sets this hotel apart is its staff. Every single person I encountered was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From the doormen who greet you with a smile, to the reception team, the bartenders, the housekeeping staff, and the wonderful breakfast waiters and waitresses—everyone consistently goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. A special thank you to Sergio, whose outstanding service at breakfast made each morning a pleasure, and to James at reception, who went above and beyond to make my stay even more enjoyable.

The hotel itself is impeccably clean, beautifully maintained, and extremely comfortable. Despite its wonderfully central location, it's remarkably quiet, making it a perfect place to relax after a busy day exploring London.

In a city with countless hotels to choose from, The Montague on the Gardens continues to stand out because of its character, comfort, and, above all, its people. I always look forward to returning, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Gem
Pros:

I commend the staff for the white-glove service from beginning to end. I appreciated the help from the doorman, the welcome of the front staff, the suggestions and reassurance of the concierge, the bar staff. The jazz musician also played for me a special piece: "I left my heart in San Francisco". Thank you for a very pleasant stay and I look forward to coming back.

Old World Charm and Elegance
Pros:

This charming hotel is THE PLACE TO STAY if you are planning activities in the West End. It sports old world English service and hospitality unrivaled by anywhere we have stayed in the UK. A bountiful breakfast with a myriad of choices sure to satisfy any taste or dietary requirement. High tea served every afternoon with grace and elegance. The Leopard Bar with its leopard skin wall coverings, cozy leather couches and safari motif is warm and inviting. It's restaurant, The Blue Door Bistro, with its varied menu and English specialties, did not disappoint. But it is the service that shines the brightest. From the bellmen that you first encounter, to the concierge, to the front desk, to the wait staff at the restaurant and the bar, and to the housekeeping staff, every service they provide is spot on. Special mention goes out to Mustafa, Conrad and Declan for going the extra mile during our 4 day stay and making us feel like part of the hotel family. This is our fourth visit to London, and when we return we will be staying once again at The Montague.

A quintessential London hotel that doesn't break the bank!
Pros:

The concierge was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. I left my credit card in the taxi when we left to board a train to Dover (this is what happens when you don't allow enough time to get to your destination). The concierge called me to let me know that I had left it and asked if I wanted them to send it to me or shred it. I was so happy that the taxi driver and the concierge was so gracious to inform me so that I did not have to worry about where I lost it. The concierge's recommendations for dining were spot on and above par. Breakfast was very good and the restaurants ambience was wonderful. One of the restaurants had a view of the gardens owned by the Duke of Bedford. The bar was well stocked with a beautiful design and wonderful entertainment. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, and it is easily walkable to numerous attractions.

Cons:

Our room was quite small and not easy to maneuver around our luggage. Bathroom was small as well. However, the plus side was we had French doors that opened into a small, private courtyard. Unfortunately, we were not able to use it as it rained during our entire stay.

Fabulous experience visiting with my daughter
Pros:

There is a hidden gem in London - the Montague on the Gardens hotel, within walking distance of the world renowned British museum. My daughter and I recently spent a magical night at this beautiful, charming hotel. We enjoyed delicious appetizers and wine in the exotic Leopard Bar while listening to a jazz saxophonist. Dinner at the Blue Door Bistro was absolutely scrumptious, served on three-tiered plate stands, in an elegant sunroom overlooking a lush courtyard. All of the plentiful staff were exceptional, from concierge to food servers, seeing to our every need. While we did emerge to visit the many nearby cultural sights, we were completely happy being cosseted at the Montague on the Gardens!. We cannot wait to return!

Cons:

I was sick during our stay, but everything about the hotel made me feel better, including the custom hot toddy in the bar.
