Loads of confusion at check in. Staff didn’t have a clue, name list was sent to the hotel as agreed but still they managed to make a shamble of it all. Not only that at breakfast different things were said to different people, breakfast couldn’t been eaten outdoors ????? Come on summer? Next couple shi comes can eat breakfast outside? Third people who come well ….. may be if you order inside?????? Maid hour mind up you e hot s LOT to work on staff service wise, some if them really nice , so one completely uninterested in given good service.
Such a pity for such a beautiful place. But unfortunately will not recommend or come back
Loved the terrace, tennis court and the room (in the end)
They have lovely grounds to walk around and it’s very peaceful. The lady on reception when we checked in was amazing and I honestly couldn’t thank her enough!
There was a wedding that we didn’t know about so we were put in a room in the pub. I think this is misleading when you book. Make sure you upgrade the room so you don’t stay in the pub the rooms are awful and the toilets don’t flush over there.
everything
didnt dislike anything
Location, staff
Place is tired and in need of refurbishement, price was fair
Location was excellent - if you get the opportunity to walk around the grounds I’d recommend it. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Absolutely beautiful and so much history.
The location was perfect for us, we wanted something close to everywhere but not too close to the chaos, this was perfect, out of the way but not too out of the way.
The parking at the top of the property was abit of a squeeze, there was a wedding when we were there so that may have been why.
There were only two things about the hotel we liked.
1. Staff, they were extremely helpful and friendly.
2. Location of the hotel
The rooms were dirty, the walls and ceilings were covered in dead flies that had been killed. There was a horrible musky smell from the room. We stayed in room 147 and between our room and next room was a door so you can literally hear the next rooms conversation. The whole place was covered in dust, definitely wouldn’t be going back. The breakfast you pay for isn’t breakfast, a croissant and overnight oats with orange juice. Actual breakfast that you might be expecting that you paid for already, is at an extra cost. You also can’t use the swimming pool unless you book and pay for a treatment
Good location, lovely areas to sit and enjoy the hotel grounds.
Rooms in the ‘old swan’ are the same price as in the ‘minster mill’ and the rooms are in very poor conditions. We asked to be moved to the main hotel because the rooms weren’t very nice and the toilet didn’t flush properly. Luckily staff moved us.
Lovely grounds and eventually a nice room
Booked hotel but was told we were staying in pub across road.
Excessive cost per night for dog
SPA is only free if you book a treatment (circa£100)
Breakfast is a short walk along drive across road to pub. It is only continental with 3 items. Full English is extra.
TV didn’t work despite reporting it 3 times (every day) just needed new socket.watched World Cup and Wimbledon on IPad.
Room was not cleaned very well or restocked with tea and coffee.
Good quality breakfast (except the coffee).
Beautiful, tranquil location.
Friendly reception staff. Croquet on the lawn!
A walk to get breakfast - fortunately it was good weather. Would have preferred a buffet style. Coffee wasn’t good. Had to wait over 15 mins to get served at the bar on a Saturday night - we were the only guests there! Staff did not know how to serve drinks and made me (female) feel very uncomfortable. Peeling paintwork in bathroom, mattress was poor quality and uncomfortable.
Location
Dated, very run down and dirty
The location for what we had planned was perfect.
The staff had no time at all for guests at breakfast in particular. The stairs to the rooms where verging on dangerous. Food and drink was way over priced. In all way over priced stay would not recommend to anyone to spend their money here sad because the surrounding area is beautiful.
Beautiful hotel, amazing location, brilliant staff.
Room was a little tired, but just needs a bit paint to be perfect.
The staff were nice & friendly enough. We had a cancellation on extended stay which unfortunately we had to forego due to illness, it was appreciated.
We ate dinner at the restaurant at the pub side. It was a group of 4 adults & 4 children. We were asked to organise our own chairs (first I have ever been asked to organise my own table) to fit the table of 8. Table was dirty - so full of past drinks & plates which no one came to clear. The pie was burnt, peri peri children was boiled chicken breast with some tomato based sauce. Salad accompanying the dishes was not seasoned in anyway. For the price we paid the food quality was abysmal.
Location is gorgeous and seems a real upturn in attentive staff and customer service
Good location and quiet
Buildings and rooms are looking tired
Location was excellent such history and green unspoilt countryside
Some things were a little dates but loved the old quirks. When booked on booking.com we booked breakfast included and found out it was only a continental all though it was good we feel like everything you book and buy has to be an add on even when you have already paid a lot for the accommodation
