Gorgeous Hotel, But a Challenge to Guests on Wheels
Pros:

What a wonderful hotel stay . . . unless you're mobility challenged.

Which is not surprising, given the fact that this magnificent, beautiful hotel was built in 1924. They have made recent ADA-compliant adaptations, but there are stairs EVERYWHERE. I was thankful for the lifts from the mezzanine to the Spanish Ballroom and in the Garden Room. At one point we needed to meet our excursion bus at the back door of the hotel, but there are three steps and no ramp at that door. We had to find a side door or use the front door on the opposite site of the hotel and then make our way around the hotel to the bus.

I requested one of the rooms with a step-in shower, since I can't manage bathtubs. Once we were able to get into our room, our keys didn't work so my husband went back to the front desk for another set. (Looooooooong walk.) No go. Only this time, the man already in the room came to the door wondering why strangers were trying to get into his room. Back down to reception, where (manager?) Liew made it his personal mission to take care of us. He gave us keys to a different room, and he and a colleague brought our bags to the room to make sure we could get in and that everything was just right. Which it was. We felt very cared for. We aren't VIPs, but we were treated as if we were. Bless you Liew.

The room was luxuriously appointed, spotless and welcoming. We were delighted to discover a Nespresso machine in the room. It would have been nice for better signage to make people aware that everything ELSE in the room, snacks and even a bottle of water, was extremely pricey. At checkout, we discovered my husband's 2 little boxes of cashews were $17.53.

We were at this hotel for a weekend conference, and found the food excellent. So was our bed--exceptionally comfortable.

It was a good stay. Challenging, but good.

Family holiday to Seattle visiting from the UK
Pros:

From the warm welcome at check in from Lieu and the team we had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Olympia hotel. Lieu went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and provided a faultless, friendly and professional service. The hotel is beautifully furnished to a high standard from the bar and restaurant area through to the beautiful bedrooms. All staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to all attractions, the harbour, market, restaurants and shops etc.
Don’t miss a visit to the hotels hidden speakeasy!

Good location with notable drawbacks
Pros:

Hotel has a nice location, close to Pike Place, Westgate center to catch the monorail, and one block from the metro line that will get you to the airport in about 45 minutes. For a five star hotel there were just a few things off about this place. The bathroom only had a tub/shower combo, no separate toilet area, but the bed was comfortable. The lobby bar had more prostitutes working there than I’ve ever seen, and the service at the breakfast restaurant was poor with slow service and two out of two orders incorrect.

Abysmal
Pros:

Front desk staff inept. Self park lot is disgusting. Wrong size beds in room we reserved. One person had to sleep in closet. Breakfast charged as lunch because it ended after lunch started each we stayed therefore adding significant extra charges. We had to fight for proper charges daily. Had better stays in holiday inns for 1/8 the price. Stay away!!!

The only plus was the location
Pros:

We have stayed at many Fairmont hotels which are usually very nice. But this did not feel like the typical Fairmont hotel. It felt more like an old Marriott. The hotel rooms are old and dingy, the staff is unresponsive and rude and the food is not good. The only good thing was the location.

AI concierge was a nightmare
Pros:

What used to be my go-to hotel in Seattle recently implemented Royal Service, an AI phone concierge. This made all communication a nightmare. Simple requests like “clean the room” “suitcases brought down” could not be comprehended. The subsequent request to talk to staff prompted a 15 minute wait. I had to eventually flag down a worker from housekeeping on my floor to make my request. That was a first.
While the staff at the hotel were competent, this simple communication flaw frustrated the stay.

Stay here if you have no plans to make contact with the staff after check in.

Check the beds for dirty socks. Otherwise good
Pros:

The location was excellent. Easy access to everything. The front of house was polite and kind

Cons:

In the pullout bed for my daughter there was a pair of nasty dirty socks in the bed in what was supposed to be clean sheets. I feel the hotel didn’t care enough to write their mistake

Billing errors destroy our experience.
Pros:

Fairmont Olympic in Seattle doubled charged us on 44.20 on urban experience fee, 17.53 on refreshment. These changes came after we checked out and confirmed our zero balance. And then the Fairmont charged us $782.02 and $419.68 with no explanation. I spoke with Elizebeth in billing who said my prepayment was correct and the charges were most likely in error and would be removed. Now Amex is not removing the charges and Fairmont Olympic Seattle will not return my voicemail messages. What a nightmare. Hopefully someone besides AI can help us.

Missed birthday …
Pros:

I’m an ALL member.
Beautiful hotel - what you would expect from a Fairmont - stunning lobby.
I booked a 1 bed king suite which when I booked described clearly it had a pull out sofa bed. It did not. We travelled with our son so needed a place for him to sleep.
When we addressed this with the front desk they said something about how some of these suites don’t have pull out sofas. It seemed confusing.
They did try to rectify this by bringing in a roll away bed which did the trick but took up our living space and also took a while to get this completed.
After a bit of conversation, I was given a food credit of $100.
Where they missed the mark was at check in. It is my 45th birthday (today, July 5) and I was asked when checking in what brought me to Seattle. I told them this was our reason of stay. I’ve stayed at Fairmonts around the world and frequently through the hotels in Vancouver where I stay for work often. I’m always treated well there with little extras like a couple chocolates or event a bottle of wine for no specific reason. Always a hand written card in my room.
The Fairmont Olympic missed an important opportunity to do something special for me which (sorry) should be fully expected of a premium hotel brand to do - it costs them nothing to do this.
