Great bed. Hotel was clean.
Great Central location. Good Restaurant. Comfortable bed and room.
fan in bathroom went all night.
Staff were really 👌
Room and food were great as well.
Only downside was not having TV with Netflix or internet access
Central location and lovely garden setting.
Room a bit dated and breakfast disappointing compared to other Double Tree properties. Having paid for the full breakfast, not impressed having to pay extra for a barista coffee.
Friendly staff and clean lovely rooms
Overall it was good.
Nothing specific. Staff was exceptional
Good location, but it is old
The facilities are pretty old. The bathroom needs renovation.
The team were amazing! That is Reception, cleaners, restaurant … 10/10 and thank you!
Lovely grounds, close to gardens
Very comfortable accommodation.
Lovely comfortable bed and great size room.
Parking available which was great and no extra cost charged to park car at hotel.
Easy to locate. Would definitely recommend
It’s about 30 minute walk into town
Staff great
Bed was poor and saggy
Compare with the price the facility and location is the best
I am writing this complaint solely because of the duty manager Chris Donaldson. I stay at this hotel every time I come to Christchurch, and I have always been satisfied—until this time. My experience was absolutely terrible, all because of this duty manager.
When I checked in, the manager was extremely impatient. First, he threw the hotel’s complimentary biscuits onto the table and said, “Here are your free biscuits.” I believe this kind of attitude completely defeats the purpose of the hotel offering free biscuits. As a guest, being thrown free biscuits like that does not make me feel appreciated; it just makes me think they’re unnecessary. I do not want free food given with such attitude.
I handed over my ID and stated the name on my booking. He immediately contradicted me, saying the name did not match my ID, and his tone was very unpleasant. He came across as looking for an argument. Isn’t it normal for a booking name to differ from an ID name? Why was I being reprimanded by the hotel front desk for something so trivial?
He also claimed he could not find my reservation, acting extremely unprofessionally and saying, “I have no booking under your surname.” I pointed out that the booking had already been charged, so it couldn’t possibly be missing. When I found the booking reference, he didn’t even look at my phone before saying, “Oh, I’ve found it.” He was clearly being difficult and wasting my time.
It was only when my husband walked in later that his attitude toward me softened. I do not know if this manager is discriminatory against non‑white people or disrespectful toward women, but he made my experience absolutely dreadful. I chose not to complain on the spot during my trip because I didn’t want to ruin my mood.
I know writing this complaint may not change anything, but I wanted to share how I felt. All the other staff at this hotel are lovely, but this one employee has undone all their hard work. He owes an apology to his employer and his colleagues.
