The location of the hotel was good, in the heart of the CBD and connected to a mall next door - this made it easy to buy things when needed.
The service and staff were terrible - the most unpleasant experience I’ve had.

The beds were very comfortable.
The shower was amazing.
The breakfast buffet was a good way to introduce someone to Singaporean cuisine. It wasn't exceptional but they were good enough.

The bidet on the toilet was also good but the instructions were pretty confusing.
The filtered water tap was also a nice touch, not because of the filtration, because Singapore's tap waters are already exceptionally clean but because it dispenses slightly cold water which is great for the heat.
The walls were thin? During one of the nights, I woke up and couldn't sleep. I could hear the other room flipping their light switch (many times), showering and rolling their luggage around at around 4-5am, presumably they were preparing for an early check out.
We booked a Signature Room with High Floor, expecting at least a half-decent view of the surrounding buildings, but we got a room where half the view was covered by our own hotel building. Truly disappointing.
The sink for washing your hands is in the room itself, not in the bathroom. That means if you are the type of person to pee during the night, you risk waking the other person up.

Very quiet, comfortable and modern room, huge bed and lovely swimming pool. Great location near China Town surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shopping mall. Breakfast was impressive too. Efficient staff who were happy to arrange a taxi pickup. We would definitely stay here again.
Strange arrangement as the room didn't have a separate bathroom; the shower and toilet alcoves were inside the room. One large shelf across the room and a hanging space ok for a single night, but no drawers or cupboards were provided. Need better signage for where the restroom was near the pool.

The Amara is in a great location and easy to get to all the best Singapore attractions. The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are spacious and kept spotlessly clean. Great nights sleep as no overnight noise.
