Great hotel for location and service
Pros:

Awesome location in downtown. Walked everywhere. The handicap rooms shower was mist accessible we’ve seen. The staff was incredible. Gregory helped us at check in friendly and knowledgeable. Shannon at front desk was great and helpful always smiling. Leroy in lobby was great to converse with. Lola our housekeeper took care of all our needs. Tiffany and Kristy in breakfast restaurant were awesome and Kristy remembers what we drank daily and was great to converse with.

Stay elsewhere
Pros:

This might be one of the worst rooms I’ve stayed in, in a long time. The exterior of the hotel looks very promising, it looks modern and clean. The rooms are the complete opposite.

We were upgraded due to Ambassador status and it is concerning to think about what the other room looked like. This room was small, VERY dated and didn’t look clean or kept up. There was a layer of dust on the alarm clock and around the lamps.

Some of the sheets had yellowed and some were still white so it made the gross ones stand out more. The windows were so filthy with bird poop that one could not see clearly out of them. When one opens the room door, the lock pops out so the door doesn’t auto close. You need to fight with it to get the lock to go back in so the door can close. Housekeeping saw us fighting w the door and said they had put in several requests to get it fixed, to no avail.

The existing pillows were so bad, misshapen, and flat that we mentioned the issues to the front desk and they sent additional pillows. Of the ones they brought, only one was usable.

The grossest was the bathtub. They are having some serious drain issues and the sink, toilet and bathtub were not draining, so you’re showering in water that has backed up from the drain. You need to wait 20-30 minutes between different people showering so the tub doesn’t overflow.

Positive:
-Breakfast was a positive. The continental buffet was solid. They had fruit, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal and different breads. The hot food varies depending on how late you go to breakfast (how long has it been sitting out - they don’t refresh it often).
-location: it’s in a pretty good location with easy access to restaurants.
- conference area is fairly nice and clean.

All in all, if we were offered a free week, I still wouldn’t stay there.

Pros:

I love Westins, so my wife and I were excited to stay here for a night, as we had tickets to a concert at City Winery. Despite having status (Titanium), the check-in process was LONG, but that was because many guests were checking in for the Pittsburgh marathon. Totally understandable.

When I finally checked in, I was not asked about my welcome gift preference, nor was I thanked for my loyalty. Again, no biggie.

However, I explained that we were running late and asked the front desk associate if someone could run our bags (2 small overnight bags) up to our room and handed him a $10. He thanked me for the tip but said that the best he could do was store our bags for us. Again, not ideal, but no biggie.

He then called for the bellman, and we had to wait for him to arrive. This defeated the whole purpose of leaving our bags since we were in a hurry. In the time it took, we could have run the bags up to our room ourselves. Regardless, the bell man did arrive and noticed the room keys in my hand and asked if he could just take the bags up to the room! I said that's what we wanted but we were told that wasn't possible. He said that the information we were given was incorrect and took care of it. Wish I got his name because he was great.

The bed and room were typical Westin comfy.

My biggest complain of all, though, is there is no lounge in this particular hotel and NO COFFEE in the lobby. I mean, come on. We had to walk down the hall and buy coffee. I expect that from a cheap hotel, but not a Westin. We also could not charge any food or drinks from the bar to our room (something I like to do to earn more points). I think I will try the AC or the Courtyard next time.

Management does not care
Pros:

We were booked in room 614 and the room itself looked appropriate until I opened the drapes and our view was 430 foot air-conditioning unit units that you could barely see the sky. We were running behind schedule and I did not have time to rebook the room so I called and spoke to the front manager, Olivia. She refused to offer any compensation or to offer us another stay in a more appropriate room. No matter how much somebody paid that room is inappropriate for absolutely anybody. The room was almost $300 a night and I would recommend going elsewhere. Very disappointed in the Customer Service that was offered.

Very dated rooms
Pros:

I came to this hotel after leaving a different hotel in Pittsburgh. The Westin was far superior to the other hotel. However, it was not a perfect stay.

Pros:
- excellent customer service. The front desk staff were fabulous.
- close to train station
- large clean rooms

Cons:
- the rooms are extremely dated and have a very strong fragrance
- breakfast had limited variety (buffet only and no menu to order from)
- the neighborhood felt unsafe at night. There appeared to be many people under the influence of drugs and a very violent fight broke out. The police had to come out.

I would stay again if I had another event at the convention centre but I would avoid walking on Liberty street.

I look forward to making another visit in the near future! (all will be well with my own pillow)
Pros:

The cleanliness of the rooms, general atmosphere and aesthetics of the hotel were classy and calming. The staff were courteous and very helpful.

Cons:

The pillows were the low point. Although there were multiple pillows, I still awoke with a stiff neck as I couldn't find a comfortable position to adjust them with proper support.
