Good Place
Pros:

Ok hotel but did not clean room or replace anything in our 3 day stay. Room nice and great having a fridge and microwave. Friendly staff. Great shuttle service. Location good . Nice place to stay but over-priced. Recommend if just want to be in heart of Whitehorse.

Disappointing
Pros:

The location is very nice.

Cons:

Literally everything else:

1. Parking is awful. If you’re not from the Yukon, you’ll need to go to the visitor center and get a pass that’s good for 72 hours for parking at the meters. You don’t have to pay for the pass or parking at the meters, but you do need to move your vehicle if the parking area requires it. This is not explained until you arrive. If you’re traveling through on the Alaska Highway, avoid this place like the plague unless you’re traveling in a clown car.

2. Staff takes forever to do anything. Checking in took about 15 minutes for no apparent reason.

3. The hotel commands incredible prices for a place that looks like they put lipstick on a pig. The bottom of our room door looked like someone had taken a bite out of it and you could see into the hallway.

Pros:

No breakfast offered

Cons:

We couldn’t open the window. Very little counter space. Plug in hall up high needed table or counter under it.

Motel charging 5 star hotel rates
Pros:

For $427 per night, the Sternwheeler was a major disappointment.

I travel to Whitehorse regularly for work and have stayed in most hotels in town. I only booked the Sternwheeler because my usual hotel had no availability. It was a mistake.

The rooms may have been renovated, but the walls are paper thin. For two consecutive nights, I could hear everything happening in neighbouring rooms. Conversations, televisions blasting, and midnight parties. Sleep was impossible. By the second night, I was forced to request a room change simply to find some peace and quiet.

The renovations themselves are cosmetic. The lobby entrance has uneven floorboards that make the property feel more like an active construction site than a hotel charging premium rates. Rolling luggage across the entrance was difficult enough that I had to lift my large bags by hand.

The in-room coffee machine belongs in a museum, and despite charging nearly $500 per night, the hotel does not provide ceramic mugs. Guests are apparently expected to drink from paper cups.

The cherry on top was the ice cold arctic shower I had on my last morning (in the new room).

At over $400 per night, I expected comfort, quality, and a good night’s sleep. I received none of the above.

I will not be returning.

Cons:

The staff were friendly and the room was very clean. Unfortunately, neither can overcome the fundamental problem: this is a motel masquerading as a hotel.

Perfectly fine. Great location.
Pros:

Beds comfy, very quiet, staff helpful, room very clean.

Cons:

There was not a single towel rack in the room (209). There were towel racks in the room we’d stayed in previously.
Morning coffee should be complimentary.

DISGUSTING
Pros:

Horrible front desk service. The room was still dirty with finger nails on the floor, beds felt like sleeping on concrete. They put me in a room right beside an exit door that construction workers used to slam every 5 minutes coming in and out all day long. I would NEVER tell people to stay at this disgusting hotel.
