Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka

This was my third stay here, spread across July 2023, February 2024 and August 2025, and by now I have a clear sense of why I keep coming back.

The single most decisive feature is the location. The hotel connects directly to Kintetsu Osaka-Uehonmachi Station, with a department store and underground shopping arcade at its feet. On a working trip with luggage, walking from the ticket gate to the lobby without stepping outside saves more energy than the map suggests. The building itself opened in 1985, designed by Togo Murano, and it has aged with dignity: a restrained vertical façade softened by a curving canopy, with mature trees around the entrance.

My most recent room had a king bed, a wide wooden headboard filling the wall, and a gently curved window looking over the city. It is not a large room by contemporary standards, but the desk, chair and side table are arranged so that spreading out documents never blocks the path to the bathroom. With the window closed it is remarkably quiet for a property sitting directly above a railway terminal. On this visit, late checkout was granted until four in the afternoon as a Platinum benefit, which quietly reorganised the whole day: a morning meeting, a return to the room to finish work, and departure after lunch, with no hunting for a café in between.

The Sheraton Club lounge on the twentieth floor is the other reason I return. The interior is calm rather than dramatic, with deep crimson armchairs and generous windows over the city. What sets the food apart is that it is unmistakably of this city: takoyaki appears alongside the usual canapés, an unusual choice that anchors the stay to Osaka rather than to a generic hotel template. Dim sum arrives in bamboo steamers, still hot, and the small dishes — marinated vegetables, carrot rapée, tortilla rolls — are carefully made. Naan with green curry is substantial enough to serve as a light dinner, and a plate of four contrasting cheeses is available.

The drinks selection is genuinely considered rather than merely present. A junmai ginjo sake, a Japanese craft gin, shochu, plum wine, whisky and decent tonic water gave me real choices. Few complimentary lounges bother at this level.

One practical note for families: signage states that children twelve and under may use the lounge only with a guardian and only until half past five, after which alcohol service begins and families are asked to refrain. Plan the evening meal elsewhere if travelling with young children.

Location is great! Next to huge mall, train station and airport limousine bus terminal

Friendly and responsive staff esp the front desk reception team! My child accidentally left her favourite shirt during the first leg of our stay. It was kept for her and she got it back during our second stay. Much appreciated!

This hotel is amazing value in Osaka. It is located above a train and subway station and has easy access to buses too. It is easy to get around Osaka or places like Nara.

Check in was quite quick and as an elite member we received a complimentary upgrade to a recently renovated junior suite.

Housekeeping is great and topped up towels and amenities daily and has Sothys Paris branded amenities in the bathroom too as well as a usual shower gel / shampoo / conditioner.

The lounge (for elite members or those who book rooms with access) is one of the best we came across in Japan. Some snacks and desserts during the day and good varied foods and dim sum in evenings with alcoholic drinks (beers, wine and spirits) available for a longer period than other hotels.

Breakfast downstairs is good too with varied selection of pastries, hot food, salads, fruit. Again great tasty watermelon and pineapple each day and they even had a beef curry with rice. The only two annoying things is the tiny shots of fresh juice and smoothies - would be better in a bigger glass - and the omelette station has ONLY plain omelettes :(

Staff are mostly helpful and friendly.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable! It stands above a major station hub that can get you anywhere in the city or outskirts. Beside is a shopping centre with vast options of market place to eat, shop, relax.

Staff service arranging late check out for a fee was excellent and greatly appreciated.

It was our family culture trip to Japan. And Osaka was our 2nd stop after Kyoto. Sheraton Hotel in Osaka is a typical Metropolitan hotel with loads of amenities around to cover its short comings.

Crowded hotel with annoying staff forcing you checkin to kiosk rather than going to the counter.
Fun part is that we have a railway station at the first basement and departmental store in 2nd basement. Quite full of amenities withing reach. Its a happening place.

The following PROS and CONS:

PROS:
1. Great location with all kinds of stores at proximity. Transport options available.
2. Great breakfast with options of Japanese and English breakfast buffet. The is easily the best part of our stay.
3. Good massaging service and available quite late well.
4. Service was good and rooms were spacious.

CONS:

1. The hotel is old and carpet is smelly in the common areas.
2. Few lights were not working in room.
3. As this is a hotel coexisting around public service ( station and stores), different lifts operate for different purposes. Its very confusing. You need to know your way through. Otherwise you will end up in some unknown corner.

This hotel ground floor connects to Osaka-Uehommachi station and it has 2 veg hotels (200 meter) near to it, and shin-osaka you can come by taxi charge you around 5000 JPY , Nara you will get direct train from here. It is on Osaka loop line. I would say perfect for transport and all the basic shops like ,family mart,7-11 and Indian veg hotels, On last I forgot my money purse here but they kept it safe and transferred it to my fried house by courier, very honest people

Location was fantastic, right next to the train station. Very big and spacious hotel. Amazing breakfast.

Nice hotel with great amenities

Location is the best part of the hotel, it is basically teh heart of the city to go anywhere by bus, train or metro.
