Beautiful but needs refinement
Pros:

Beautiful hotel, and well-located, but full of minor annoyances. The gym closed at 4 pm on my day of arrival so I couldn't work out - which usually helps me adjust time zones. Breakfast restaurant didn't open until 7 am, and the cafe was ridiculously expensive to assemble a continental breakfast. There is no charging port or outlet on the desk. The bell men were distinctly uninterested in their job.

Pros:

Your location can be in such a beautiful classic hotel

Cons:

I think they have a lot of deferred maintenance in the common areas that could use some love and attention

High Tea on Mother’s Day
Pros:

High Tea on Mother’s Day in the Laurel Court at the Fairmont Hotel did not disappoint. Mom and daughter enjoyed high tea (a few times) when we visited London last summer. As we tucked into our scones with jam and clotted cream followed by lobster rolls, roast beef and salmon sandwiches and burrata tarts we looked at each other and chuckled and exclaimed “this is even better than London”. Also appreciated the very attentive service provided by Fermin.
Pricey to be sure but a memorable experience for mama and daughter.

Look elsewhere
Pros:

Corporate travel booked me here for one night and a disappointment

It’s a Grand hotel that’s run down and needs a lift. I stayed at the LA fairmont just before this and the difference is startling in terms of basics. Btw, tv did not work, the gym looks nice but is for Accor members only ( unlike the LA property), and they try to upsell the minute you are on property.

With all the other great hotels in the city , look elsewhere

Dejligt hotel der ligger perfect
Pros:

Rigtig god placering.

Wonderful stay at this Classic hotel
Pros:

We stay here every year when we come to visit our son and family who live just 1 block away on Clay St. I am a long time Accor member and we were upgraded to the Kashmir suite.
We like to get our morning coffee in their coffee shop and later have a glass of wine in the main restaurant bar after dinner with our son and family. We use both the cable cars and waymo driverless taxis to get around.
The best night view is from the tower rooms which look towards Alcatraz.
We talked to a lovely young lady in the lobby named Kimberly Straube. What we didnt find out until the end of the conversation that she is actually the Hotel Manager! I hope that she is travels to Tuscany with her family in a few years to meet my own family there.

Beautiful Hotel, Exceptional Customer Service
Pros:

The Fairmont is beautiful, as expected! The Tonga Room is an incredible experience that I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid! What really sets it apart, however, is the exceptional service!

Andres, the doorman, is a true gem & we’ve adopted him as our uncle - he really makes you feel welcome, warm, and special. As soon as you pull up, you immediately feel at home. There was another young man that worked during the mornings/midday - I wish I could remember his name, but he was so wonderful as well and made us feel at home every time we returned to the hotel.

Cameron at the front desk offered exceptional customer service & is the epitome of front desk excellence! Any hotel should be so lucky to have him representing their property in any capacity.

Yan Fen went over and above to clean & tidy our room. She made our stay extra special & would even organize my baby’s toys on her bed so everything was perfect when we returned. We were there for a whole week and the days that she wasn’t there, we noticed a difference & missed her! She was also so friendly and happy to help if you needed anything!

Tony & Estifanos at the bell desk were both also incredibly friendly & helpful! We had a lot of luggage - baby items, stroller, car seat, sleeping things, etc., and they were so helpful to keep our belongings safe & loaded up properly when we left.

We also had a wonderful bartender - I can’t remember his name but he used to be a recruiter. He was so friendly & gave us some great recommendations for places to visit around the city.

Thank you to The Fairmont & the incredible staff for a wonderful & truly exceptional stay!
Honorable mention for all of the Le Labo bath products!

A once in a lifetime experience to spend a couple nights in a Fairmont suite with unbeatable views from the Golden Gate
Pros:

What’s not to like? It’s the Fairmont after-all. Historic, beautiful, and unlike any other property in The City.

Cons:

$300 incidental fee in an already expensive city may not fit everyone’s budget. Yes, of course it’s not a Motel 6 and $300 is literally nothing to most of the people who stay there. As a regular working-class person, however, it’s got me checking my bank account hoping to see that money back asap.

Beautiful hotel in a great spot of San Francisco
Pros:

We had such a fantastic experience from check in to check out the whole stay was amazing. The ever so kind and friendly lady who checked us in was exited to hear it was our first time in San Francisco and gave us the low down on where to go and what to do etc. we had a beautiful room with a nice view. Breakfast was amazing with great service. Before I booked this place I was very hesitant because there was a lot of bad reviews recently. Well I’m so happy to report that I really don’t have any negatives to say. My brother and I had a great experience!

Lovely, historic, well-run hotel - worth every penny!
Pros:

We had a wonderful, memorable stay at this venerable hotel. I'd suggest upgrading to a tower room with a view, if you are able, as the view is definitely worth it. (I can't comment on the rooms in other parts of hotel.) The room itself had all the many comforts one would expect in a top hotel. Our stay included breakfast and we encountered none of the problems some reviewers mention. Waitstaff was professional yet friendly, the food was top notch, and we never waited for a table. I appreciated the many historic photos and relics adorning the walls, showcasing the hotel's place in SF history. The lobby is gorgeous and we loved the location, even if a good walk up. I highly recommend for a special visit!
