Beds were comfortable
Breakfast was rather basic, but unfortunately that was not the main issue during our stay.
We were visiting on a work trip and had specifically booked twin rooms. On arrival, one of the rooms provided was a double room. When we raised this with reception, we were told that no twin rooms were available and were asked to return later to speak with the manager.
After returning from dinner at around 11:00pm, we spoke with the manager. The interaction was disappointing. Rather than trying to assist, she appeared irritated that we had come back and simply repeated that there was nothing the hotel could do. We asked whether an additional room was available, but were told the hotel was fully booked.
One of my colleagues pointed out that there appeared to be a number of room keys still on the reception board. At this point, the manager became defensive and raised her voice, stating that she had worked in the industry for 36 years and that if we did not believe her, we could check the hotel's website ourselves.
A colleague did exactly that and found that rooms were still available to book online. When this was brought to the manager's attention, she initially claimed these were additional rooms that could be booked at extra cost. We explained that this was a business trip, that colleagues were not comfortable sharing a double bed, and that the issue arose because the hotel had failed to provide the room type that had been booked and paid for.
After leaving and returning a short time later, the manager suddenly managed to provide us with a twin room after all. This demonstrated that a suitable room had in fact been available throughout, making the earlier conversations particularly frustrating.
There was also an issue with the airport transfer service we had pre-booked through the hotel. Our 12:30pm transfer arrived almost an hour late. Reception repeatedly assured us it would arrive within 10 minutes, but we were left waiting a further 45 minutes.
