Bologna staycation
Pros:

Spacious room and well located to the train station. The buffet breakfast was plentiful. The bed was enormous.

Cons:

Some of the staff interactions were abrupt and I was suprised that the room had disposable cups for hot drinks. These began to leak on day 2. There was no communication at check in regarding the city tax so I had to request a receipt on departure to explain the discrepancy in the payment. from what Booking.com had quoted.

Pros:

Lovely room stunningly shiny bathroom, massive bed. Hotel feels luxurious

Cons:

Paper cups instead of china cups?. Looked a bit penny-pinching. Even budget hotels know tea and coffee taste better in a decent cup.
Sadly the area surrounding the hotel is covered on graffiti which degrades the area. The city needs to clean that up. .The walk just to the Via dell Indepenza is made to feel seedy by this lack of respect in the City. The side street which heads on from the hotel is also covered on graffiti. It's very sad because in the20 years when I used the Carlton 1987 till 2006 the area looked and felt much more classy and lovely. . A sad downhill trajectory for such a beautiful City.

Excellent stay. We would definitely return.
Pros:

Very nice, luxurious hotel, close to the historic center, with payable parking in the basement. They upgraded our room to a suite.
