Staff were all super friendly, easy check in amd out, we barely heard any other guests, beds were super soft. The personalized TV was a hit.

Lilly checked me in, she also made sure I knew about breakfast and check out. She offered me something from the cooler and she gave me directions to the pizza place down the road. Lilly and all the staff were excellent. We will continue to use Hilton. What a great experience!

I stay at this location when ever in Grand Rapids area. Always a great stay.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was not a good experience. It's clean, however there were issues with both maintenance and the breakfast room.

TLDR: If you have food allergies, absolutely do not stay here, also maintenance issues that impacted the stay.

Now the story...

In terms of maintenance, in our first room, the toilet was broken, so we were given another room. In the second room, multiple light bulbs were burned out. I went to the front desk and asked for light bulbs. I was told that all they could do was put in a maintenance request. I asked if maintenance was working that evening and I was told 'no.' I then asked if there was anyway they could just give me a couple of lightbulbs and I would screw them in myself. I was told that she didn't know where the lightbulbs were. I then asked, is there any way we could unscrew a few bulbs from another room and then screw them in our room and was told that she couldn't do that (and I knew there was at least one empty room due to the room with the broken toilet). Therefore we were left to sit in a fairly dark room, again all over light bulbs that would take about 30 seconds to swap out. Again, lights bulbs (!). Along with this, there were clearly a lot of minor maintenance issues, such as the hooks hanging off the wall, and the TV being mounted crooked. I wouldn't have really cared much about these, if it weren't for the earlier incidents.

Secondly, and far more seriously, I had a really hard time getting information from the hotel staff about allergen information for the breakfast room. My son has a fairly severe dairy allergy. As is my custom, before I brought my family down to the breakfast room, I asked the person working there if I could have information as to which items contained dairy. She seemed dismissive and said "everything!" This is was clearly not true (ex. apples, peanut butter, plain bread), so I went to the front desk and explained the situation. I was told that there may have been a language barrier and the front desk staff came with me to the breakfast room to help out (which I appreciated). That said, I was told about several things that there was no way to check the ingredients because the box had already been thrown out. There were also a few cases of when I was told one thing and then saw the label and then it wasn't fully accurate. Most egregiously, the breakfast room staff person (who previously said everything had dairy) instead the eggs were dairy-free. It turned out that she didn't actually know that because the box had been thrown away. You are a hotel serving food! You need to be able to communicate what is in the food! I don't expect everything to be dairy free. I do expect you to take a few pictures of the ingredient lists so your guests with allergies can know the ingredients. It's not that hard. It's probably mostly a training issue. You could literally put someone in the hospital by making a mistake in this area!

Anyway, when I checked out, I politely communicated that it wasn't a great experience and explained why. I didn't really get the sense that anyone cared all that much, hence my felt need to write this review.

Good location, clean, comfortable beds

Very disappointed with this hotel. We arrived from out of town and had a wedding rehearsal dinner to get ready for, but they would not let us check in a little early without charging us an extra $50. They had rooms available and would not let us check in. I have never had a hotel charge me to check in a little bit early and I will never stay at this hotel again!

Easy checkin, elevators conveniently located, room spacious w frig, closet, bright bathroom. There were a lot of pillows but small size on the king bed. breakfast was ok. tip: ask for top floor so no one walking around above you
