This was an excellent hotel experience. The location is ideal and the room was comfortable, well-decorated and clean. We loved the view from our second storey window, the free minibar and snacks, and the ease of access to everything we wanted to visit. Highly recommended.
Market Street Hotel in Edinburgh Scotland was the perfect place to stay. A newer hotel in a quiet area with elevator, air conditioning, and stairs. Nice rooftop restaurant. The smiling hotel staff were wonderful, friendly and went out of their way to provide any help necessary. (Loaner umbrellas, slippers, free mini-bar and fantastic room cleanliness were additional pluses.) About 1 1/2 blocks from the middle of the Royal Mile (makes it easier going up/down the mile to the castle, palace and other historic locations), across the street from the Waverly train station pedestrian entrance & around the corner from the tram and public bus stop for getting around town, as well as the A100 Airport bus. No rental car needed. We plan to stay there again on our next trip.
Wonderful stay at Market street! Friendly staff and amazing location in modern boutique hotel! Free mini bar and comfy slippers in the room! Wonderful breakfast included too!
A lovely hotel just steps from the train station (so you don't have to schlep your bags up the 75 steps of Fleschman's Close!). Well-appointed, quiet and modern rooms, exceptional service and lots of unexpected and amazing perks. If you're in Edinburgh, you'll want to stay here!
We stayed for one night at this property upon our arrival by train from London before heading out on a tour to Speyside. It is located just a few steps from the train station. We were greeted warmly upon check-in. Our room, although compact, was very well appointed. They have truly mastered the art of maximizing space. The room had all of the lovely touches you might expect from a 5 star property. The bed was extremely comfortable. The rooms do have a very hip vibe. We were quite pleased. We did enjoy drinks and dinner at the bar/restaurant Nor'Loft on the 7th floor. The drinks and food were excellent. And possibly made the best espresso martini we have ever had! We would highly recommend this property. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with everything we need. The free mini bar was generously stocked. The street the hotel is on is not glamorous or anything, but it's super convenient. The train station is pretty much across the street, and our rental car company is located inside, so it was easy for us to get a car for our road trip. My only complaint is that the soap dispensers were a bit faulty, making it nearly impossible to get shampoo or conditioner.
We had a lovely time at Market Street Hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated and quite spacious with very modern amenities. A delicious breakfast was provided with hot items included and optional champagne. The free minibar was always well stocked. The common areas and individual rooms were spotless and well-maintained. The location of the hotel could not be better. We were close to the train station and the Royal Mile. It was an easy walk everywhere. All staff were extremely professional and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Very convenient location , very clean and free mini bar which is filled up every morning.
Fabulous modern hotel with everything you need and more in the room (Dyson hair drier, straighteners, coffee machine, milk frother and complimentary mini bar to name a few!). Room was very clean and comfortable and the shower was amazing. For breakfast there was everything you could possibly want including a complimentary glass of champagne! The staff were all friendly and helpful. Can’t fault a single thing and will definitely be back!
I would really give it 3.6 if I could. The good: its location is perfection! Close to the train and right around the corner from the mile. Free mini bar, snacks in room, and champagne at check in. The not so good: kinda smelly, but like the Edinburgh kind of smells damp a lot but this was not great. I had spray from the previous hotel, thank goodness. Rooms are pretty small and the beds are good but not great. The big thing is, the price. It’s pretty pricey to only kind of like it. So hence the 3.6.
Perfect location, comfortable rooms and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating.
Really well thought out and stylish hotel. Lots of surprise and delight touches. Rooms immaculate and well thought out. Free mini bar was a nice touch.
We arrived by airline from the airport and it was an easy walk to the hotel for them to hold our bags. The location is excellent allowing us to walk to all the areas we wanted to see. Our room was on the fifth floor and was so peacefully quiet. Loved the sliding door to block out the 4:30 am sunlight! The bed was comfortable, rain head shower luxurious and your own private bar and Scottish chocolates just puts this over the top. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with lots of selections on the menu.
Very disappointing visit to the Nor Loft champagne bar which we foung over rated ,expensive and poor .The view is heavily marketed as you look onto the out buildings of Waverley station. The food was very average so much so we had to send back our final dish .In fairness they did discount the price from the bill .Won't be back!
First, the Market Street staff are exceptionally helpful. Also, the location is perfect for seeing all the sites as the hotel is within easy walking distance of the major attractions. The rooms, though small, have a great layout and have all the amenities you might need. This is a great one to two night stay in Edinburgh.
The hotel is clean, new, and well-maintained. Service is efficient. Breakfast is varied and tasty. The location couldn't be better - walking distance from the Royal Mile, the New Town, and Waverly train station.
It should have been a perfect stay.
What ruined it for us were the windows that don't open. No fresh air in the room. We were running the air conditioner on full fan, and still had headaches from lack of oxygen. We also had dry hair and dry skin from the air conditioner. In the morning, we'd get up with a throat dry and painful, like a cheese grater had been at it. Couldn't sleep well.
And if you don't sleep well, your whole day is soured, you don't have the energy for the holiday you've planned.
Terrible experience
Excellent location and nice rooms. We especially liked the complimentary minibar, nice soaps, and great shower.
My husband and I stayed here for two nights to explore Edinburgh then returned for a night after a few days in the Fife Coast because we liked it so much.
Excellent location between Old Town and New Town, plus right across from the Waverly train station which makes it a breeze if you’re traveling to other parts of Scotland. Easily walkable to the Castle, National Gallery and other attractions. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Despite the great location it’s still quiet which is an added bonus.
Rooms are well furnished and well organized. I’d definitely stay here again.
During a trip to Scotland my partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Market Street Hotel. It was in old town Edinburgh. The hotel was first class. The staff were friendly and professional and the room was beautiful. Would highly recommend anyone.
The staff were always attentive and welcoming. We had a lovely quiet room with very comfortable beds and pillows. Super modern decor just how I like it. Close walking distance to everything. Loved the free mini bar and welcome champagne on arrival. We’ve had so many ordinary stays across our holiday, this one was outstanding in a positive way. We did have a broken sliding door which wasn’t fixed, but didn’t affect our comfort or ability to use the room.
