Excellent staff.
Food was very good.
Food took extremely long to arrive and more than half the menu items were not available.
Dirty table cloth.
Frayed towel edges.
Mismatched light bulbs.
Overly bright bar and dining room which is not conducive to good atmosphere.
Booking confusing as we wanted a double bed but were given two singles.
Establishment is in serious need of maintenance.
This was our second visit (first was 10 years ago) and the place has really taken a dive. We won’t be back as we were very disappointed.
Sense of history
The driving to and from the property, though once there everything was safe and secure
Friendly staff
Very difficult to find in the dark.
Unsafe area.
Our steaks were of a poor quality.
Has potential a bit run down carpets horrible
Just upgrade a bit
Kimberley Club is beautiful old style with such a history. We loved the wide passages and incredible pieces of furniture as well as all the old pictures.
The room was very comfortable with good linen and everything we needed, good lighting as well charging facilities.
Safe parking across the street.
The location is not great but as the Clubhouse was built 140 years ago no one ever expected that one day it might stand in the middle of of a very neglected Kimberley.
The history
There was VERY loud music through the night until 5:00. Could not sleep
The food was good. The club location was not the best, but the building and garden are lovely
The dining area and bar areas were very brightly lit and that spoilt the ambiance of this magnificent old club.
The central air conditioning was set to very warm and it was unable to be adjusted to a cooler temperature
The old fashioned and historical ambience of the place, the wonderful staff, great food in the restaurant and comfortable, relaxing feel. The courtyard was especially nice in the afternoon sun.
This is a very old building (from 1881) and does need a bit of attention.
Very beautiful place. Interesting history as well. Staff very helpful. Food was delicious and good portions.Heating/Aircon room a bonus.
Nothing.
Here’s a polished version you can post as a review:
What a disappointing experience at the Kimberley Club Hotel. The building itself is beautiful and full of history, which makes it even sadder to see how badly the place has been neglected.
The bathrooms were filthy, with showers full of mould, a drain that didn’t work properly, and a shower door that wouldn’t even close. The room itself was clearly not cleaned properly or vacuumed in a very long time.
The bed squeaked every time you moved and felt like it came straight out of the 1800s. Needless to say, sleep was impossible. See video.
The restaurant food was decent enough, but extremely overpriced for what you get.
Check-out was just as disappointing as the rest of the stay. There was nobody around, and when we finally found someone, they simply took the key and walked off. No “good morning,” no “how was your stay?” — absolutely no customer service.
Honestly, whoever awarded this place a 4-star rating must have been blind. It’s such a shame that such a historic and beautiful building is being left to fall into rack and ruin.
We loved the History. It was wonderful to read all the framed articles and stories. Its a beautiful property. It is wonderful to be able to stay at a property like this and step back in time.
Even though the room smelt clean the room was still very dirty and dusty on the picture rails and curtains. The couch, scatters and carpet were really bad. Carpet is very stained. Otherwise it was fine. Sheets were clean. Bath was wonderful.
The staff members were very kind and ensured there were no troubles / issues with my arrival or departure times. Very charming and well preserved historical site, feels like a mini museum.
I did not mind however just wanted to note for awareness of others - due to it being a historical site, noise level is a major concern and is not updated for accessibility needs (ie disability, injury or old age)
Loved the history attached to the Kimberly Club.
Photos and furniture are well looked after.
Floor boards creaked in the bedroom.
Big rooms and comfy beds.
Tv did not work, for that amount- no breakfast? Was not happy.
