We loved it
Pros:

We had our son’s wedding there and stayed there for almost a month. The staff could not have been more helpful. Specially, Ms Sudha and Mr Sushant were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help and support us. The facility is excellent, food is excellent. Considering the quality of I would say the price is very reasonable. We plan to stay there every time we visit Kathmandu.

Wonderful stay for family
Pros:

I had a wonderful 3-night stay at the Hotel Yak & Yeti, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The property itself is beautiful, what made our trip unforgettable was personal hospitality shown to my family.
(The Club Lounge):
We spent every afternoon and evening here, and it quickly became our favorite spot, thanks entirely to the incredible team. Shradha, Aayushma, Amar, and Suman showered my daughter, Avery, with so much genuine warmth and care. Avery absolutely loved chatting with each of them, and they made her feel so incredibly welcome. A huge thank you to them for always looking out for her and keeping her happy—she always talks about how much she loved the pita bread and chickpeas dip !
(The Breakfast Buffet):
The morning team brought so much energy for the start of the day. Chef Rajendra made the most delicious ham and cheese scrambled eggs for us exactly to our liking. Jhapad gave us wonderful recommendations for local food to try, and we were incredibly impressed that he remembered our exact coffee choices from the very first day.
I highly recommend Hotel Yak & Yeti to anyone visiting, especially families. We will definitely be back!

Retaining modernity giving up heritage.
Pros:

The renovated rooms with balcony in Shangrila floor with garden view are amazing. Buffet breakfast and dinner at chimneys or spice kitchen was awesome and well served. Room. Amenities and hotel ambience is great.

Cons:

The checking staff messed up my booking with a room in heritage suite with no hot water and had to change it later to the right room. The bar service is absurd and the server is always nosy.

Great food, nice environment, excellent service
Pros:

On our last day in Kathmandu, we decided to opt for some international flavors, ordering the chicken biryani and chicken stroganoff. Our experience was made even better by Rabi, a wonderful staff member who served us wholeheartedly, stayed incredibly attentive, and always greeted us with a warm smile.

A Heritage Hotel That Truly Lives Up to its Reputation
Pros:

Our stay at Yak & Yeti was brief, spread across two separate transit stops in Kathmandu, but what an experience it turned out to be.

This is one of those rare properties that manages to preserve its history without feeling dated. The heritage architecture is beautifully maintained and every corner of the hotel seems to tell a story. Knowing that the property houses the oldest chimney in Kathmandu only adds to its charm. Staying here felt like stepping into a living piece of history while still enjoying all the comforts and luxuries of a modern five-star hotel.

We opted for the Shangri-La Package and it was absolutely worth it. The lounge access curated by Mr Aman and Mr Suman alone elevated the experience. It included an excellent buffet breakfast, a delightful high tea each evening and a generous evening spread of snacks accompanied by premium single malts. It felt less like a hotel package and more like an indulgent retreat within the hotel itself.

The location is another major advantage. Situated in one of Kathmandu's most refined neighbourhoods, it offers a calmer and more elegant atmosphere than the bustle of Thamel while still being close enough to enjoy it. We found ourselves just a short walk away from the city's main attractions while returning each evening to a far more peaceful setting.

The rooms deserve special mention. Spacious, elegant and thoughtfully designed, they embody understated luxury. We stayed on the fourth floor overlooking the pool, and the view added a lovely sense of calm to the experience. The bathrooms were equally impressive, with large bathtubs that were perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. There is an undeniable sense of opulence throughout the property, but it is tasteful rather than ostentatious.

What impressed me most, however, was the staff. I generally find large luxury hotels a little impersonal and often prefer homestays for the warmth and authenticity they offer. Yak & Yeti completely changed that perception. The staff were genuinely friendly, approachable and eager to help. Whether it was sharing local recommendations, helping with bookings or simply checking in on our plans for the day, they made us feel less like guests and more like welcome visitors.

The concierge team was especially helpful. They assisted us with various arrangements during our stay and even organised our airport transfers for our Everest mountain flight experience, making everything completely hassle-free.

The hotel itself is exceptionally well-equipped with shops, a salon, spa, swimming pool and tennis courts, many of which were included under our package. It is the kind of property where you could easily spend an entire day without ever leaving the premises.

A special mention must go to the team at Spice Room. The service was outstanding and the dining experience was memorable throughout our stay. The breakfast deserves particular praise. Quite simply, it was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. The variety, quality and attention to detail were exceptional.

Yak & Yeti strikes a balance that very few hotels manage to achieve. It is luxurious without being intimidating, historic without feeling old and professional without sacrificing warmth. For anyone visiting Kathmandu, whether for a longer stay or simply in transit as we were, this is a property I would recommend wholeheartedly.

We arrived expecting a comfortable place to stay. We left wishing we had booked more nights.

Exceptional
Pros:

Whilst staying at the hotel (which is gorgeous and an absolute sanctuary within the city noise) I ate dinner at The Spice Room. The food was the best I have eaten since being in Nepal and the service was exceptional. Rajanish made sure I was looked after and was the perfect server ☺️
100% recommend!
