I booked this apartment based on its overall rating and the photos. In hindsight, I wish I had sorted the reviews from lowest to highest, as those reviews matched my experience much more closely.

1. Misleading photos
The balcony is extremely disappointing. It’s very small, and there are two air conditioning units mounted at head height on the side, blowing hot air directly onto anyone sitting there. Once two people are seated, one of them is literally about 20 cm from an AC unit (see photos). This makes the balcony essentially unusable, so there’s no comfortable outdoor space to relax.

The listing photos are also misleading regarding the view. One of the photos suggests there is a pool view, but there isn’t. The apartment overlooks an unattractive area with no pool in sight.

2. Poor condition of the building
The interior of the building is dirty, run-down, and poorly lit. Some residents leave bulky items, including parts of sofa beds, in the common hallways. On one occasion, a sofa was partially blocking the stairs.

3. Unreliable elevators
The elevators do not work properly. On our first day, we got stuck inside one and never used it again. After speaking with other guests we met on the stairs, we learned that they had experienced similar problems with the elevators.

4. Tiny TV
The TV is incredibly small—approximately 20 × 40 cm. It felt more like a computer monitor than a television.

For the same price you can get more value and honest options.

Incredible
Pros:

Loved the location, the convenience of the restaurants and snack bars by the pool and proximity to the supermarket. The pool attendants were so friendly. Apartment was SO clean, plenty of towels for us. Cleaning items were supplied which was good. Stored our luggage on the last day and gave us a spare key to use the pool until we were picked up for the airport. I can't wait to go back.

Cons:

Absolutely nothing.

Thirteenth Year Staying Here - Dunas
Pros:

Everything - Reception Staff, Pool Staff, Cleaning Staff, The appartment, facilities, the Pool, the restaurants and bars on the Dunas Complex especially the Chill Out (Leonal) and Tesouras Restaurant. The close proximity to the centre of Alvor and the beach - 5 minutes.

Cons:

The frying pans in our otherwise perfect appartment were not Non-Stick.

Well placed and spacey flat in a cosy small city
Pros:

Everything as we needed to live and cook, and nice with a balcony. Everything for shopping and dining so close by in a comfy atmosphere, including long opening hours. Flat was spacey and well equipped.

Cons:

Pool could be open one more hour :)
Flat has almost no decorations.

Pros:

La piscina y el trabajador de las mañanas , muy atento .

Cons:

El edificio es viejo y huele a viejo. El apartamento igual. El baño muy antiguo. Las fotos tienden a engaño. La tele es del tamaño de un portátil. El sofá cama incómodo.
Los utensilios de cocina muy nuevos. Muy cerca de la playa y de la zona de fiesta
Realmente ha sido muy caro , relación calidad-precio. No repito.
