Sadly, once again, we are left wondering if we stayed in a different hotel to any of the 5 star reviews for here. Check in was smooth. Offered a welcome non alcoholic drink. Be careful and read the small print of whatever you sign at reception. It is long winded but, trust me, it is worth it in case you have any issues. Our room was higher up the building and facing the road. To call it a 'city view' is bordering on a lie quite honestly. I do not believe facing a block of flats over the road a city view. A view - yes. Of flats - yes. In a City - yes, but come on! The noise was horrific, and I mean that. We have stayed in so many hotels around the World and yes, that includes major cities and not had this issue. We thought the window had been left open. It was impossible to get any sleep. The road outside is phenomenally noisy. We were offered another room somewhere in the hotel but a lower grade room than we had but we would still have had to pay the same price. Really? Dreadful! We didn't find the hotel good value for money either. Over priced for a room that, aside from being large, wasn't what you'd call luxurious at all. Nice shower. No doubt there will be a response to this review from the management. I would prefer it if there wasn't as we have been through this in a very detailed way both face to face and via email. Some guests plainly loved it. We did not. That's life!
Lovely hotel with very welcoming and helpful front desk. Breakfast was pleasant with a small buffet and good selection on the à la carte menu. I dined at the rooftop restaurant which had lovely views. The hotel was very helpful prior to my stay when I was enquiring about sightseeing and using the hoteI arranged a half day private city tour for me. This was the only disappointment as there was a cycle race event and some roads were closed so the ‘ tour’ took only 3 hours and the driver only took me to the Acropolis and the Lycabettus Hill so hardly worth the EUR200. It would have been nice to be informed of the event as I could have done the tour on a different day. Other than that, a very pleasant stay.
This hotel had amazing service and a great location for seeing the sights in Athens. Don’t skip the rooftop bar for awesome views. The breakfast was a standout, with plenty of healthy options like fresh fruit, protein pudding, chia seed pudding, oatmeal, eggs. Order the Greek eggs off the menu as well - delicious. Would certainly recommend and stay here again. The only thing I didn’t love was the possible see through wall in the bathroom. The control for this is outside the bathroom, so if you don’t trust your travel partner, they could have a full view of you in the shower. Very strange option in my opinion.
I always love coming back to Academias Autograph Collection in Athens – it’s one of those places that wins you over instantly and keeps drawing you back.
The hotel offers excellent facilities and a stunning design, beautifully blending modern elegance with a subtle touch of Greek heritage. The rooms are extremely comfortable, perfectly clean, and thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail – exactly what you need after a day exploring the city.
The food is absolutely amazing – whether it’s breakfast or dinner, both the quality and presentation are outstanding. And the spa? Truly unbeatable. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Overall, the hotel delivers a perfect combination of style, comfort, and top-level service. If you’re looking for an exceptional stay in Athens, this is definitely the place to be.
The beautifully appointed rooms offer a peaceful retreat with easy access to major sites. Some even boast a stunning view of the Acropolis. The fantastic staff and superb breakfast make for a truly memorable stay. The Japanese restaurant is simply magical!
Absolutely incredible experience! Everyone on the staff made every part of our experience so positive and memorable for our last night of our month long stay in Greece. The desk staff, waitress in the lobby bar/restaurant, the gentleman who helped us with our bags, the staff in the rooftop bar and the breakfast staff were all warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. The food throughout the hotel was outstanding in presentation, quality and flavor! This is a beautiful, elegant property! Sitting in the rooftop bar at night overlooking the Acropolis is one of our favorite memories of our trip!
I had a great stay here in an executive suite. While it's not located in the center of the touristy parts of Athens, it's a 10-20 minute walk to most locations which is perfectly fine. It's also very close Kolonaki and Syntagma Square. This is a boutique-style hotel with only 68 rooms which I really like. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The hotel is nicely decorated and clean. Noise could be an issue if you're on a lower floor facing the busy street but for us it was fine on a high floor. There are rooms with an acropolis view so try and ask for that when you reserve or check in. Breakfast was excellent with buffet and cooked to order items. The bathroom was a good size with the toilet separated by a glass enclosure. If I had to nitpick, the shower and bathtub have that partially open glass wall separation which is so common in newer hotels these days which I really don't prefer. It's still not a deal-breaker.
Piekny widok z tarasu restauracji!!
Mnie brakowało małego czajnika elektrycznego na wrzątek. Woda z urządzenia do kawy była dla mnie za zimna na herbate
We stayed at the Academias Hotel for a pre Xmas holiday and spent 5 nights here.
From start to finish the service and staff were superb.
Check in was very welcoming and efficient.
Our room was very clean and well serviced during our stay.
The room was spacious and well laid out.
We slept very well each night also.
We dined twice in the Nyx restaurant which is reviewed separately.
The hotel bar also serves food throughout the day and also of very good quality.
Breakfasts were generous and tasty….no complaints there either.
Overall this is an excellent place to stay within easy reach of many attractions in central Athens and we had an excellent stay.
Thank you to all the staff.
I had a great stay at Academias Hotel in Greece. The room was spacious and very clean, and the service was excellent throughout my visit. The front desk staff were especially helpful and welcoming.
My only caveat is that the room felt a bit dim—there wasn’t enough lighting—and it could really use more drawers for storage.
Breakfast at Symposium was a highlight. Big shout-out to Maria, Antonia, Chrysa, and Bella for their outstanding service—they were warm, attentive, and made mornings feel easy. Also, the chef who made my breakfast sandwich was top notch: you could tell he actually cared about what he was putting out, not the usual run-of-the-mill, rushed breakfast station. Thank you!
After a long night-and day of flights-we were welcomed graciously by the reception staff, and offered “fluffy” little tea-based cocktails, in fall colors! We had reserved a king bed, executive room, several months earlier, with the included hotel breakfast. We were very pleased with the room size and design. We did not have the Parthenon view, but had 2 windows that looked out on the neighborhood buildings. There was scaffolding and presumably construction across the street, but all was quiet enough on our weekend visit. As is becoming typical of European hotel rooms, the lighting was dim: energy-savings, imo. We brought our adaptor plugs, which helped for charging multiple devices. We always use the safe. The bath was spacious, with “wet room” with tub and shower. Toiletries and towels easily fit under the open vanity. Marriott provides robes and slippers for guests. Of course, since Athens has an ancient sewer system, toilet paper is never flushed, but put into a separate receptacle next to the toilet.
The included breakfast in the Symposium dining room was perfectly curated and surpassed our expectations. Coffee, of several varieties, including Greek, was offered; I chose drip. A menu was presented; an entree could be selected, in addition to the buffet. The charming hostess even provided me a hand-written recipe for the Greek specialty dish of eggs scrambled with homemade tomato sauce and soft feta cheese- different from the hard crumbles I can buy in USA. The buffet completed the breakfast- fruit, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses.
The restaurant staff worked so well as a team. The hotel staff was professional and friendly. Wonderful Greek hospitality!
The hotel location was an easy 15 minute walk to Monastiraki Square, a local hub for souvenirs, food and drink, as well as the meeting spot for our evening food tour.
Also, check with reception for an evening reservation at the NYX rooftop restaurant, to be described in a separate review, but in a word, excellent.
The Academias Hotel was an inspiring start to our month in the Mediterranean countries, and we look forward to another visit to this lovely Marriott.
We had a very enjoyable four-night stay at the Academias Hotel in September 2025. This hotel has a great location and very good staff who do a great job taking care of the guests. We had a positive experience working with the concierge in advance of our stay to organize a transfer from the airport and a wine tasting and sightseeing trip outside of the city with A-Muse and very friendly and knowledgeable guide Spyros.
We very much enjoyed the on-site food and beverage options. The Plato Lounge was a great place for a cocktail or small meal. The rooftop Japanese restaurant boasts great views and excellent food. And most of all we thought the breakfast offering was spectacular with lots of variety, very fresh food, and good service.
Our room was small but comfortable. Housekeeping service was excellent and our room was well attended to throughout our stay. The shower was excellent and bed extremely comfortable.
We would seek out opportunities to return to the Academias Hotel in the future and would highly recommend to anybody visiting Athens.
Fabulous hotel and close to everything! The spa and rooftop restaurant were spectacular and the views from top were magnificent!
