Staff very helpful, good location
Nothing
The hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful!
Nothing
Hotel was very clean, great service, friendly staff, great location. Highly recommend!
So decided on this hotel instead of the Grand Bretagne because it is a block and half away from the GB and part of AMEX FHR program.
PROS:
good location
EXCELLENT Japanese Restaurant (ROOFTOP) with great FOOD, Service and Vibe, also fantastic view of the Acropolis
Bed is comfortable
Really nice bathroom
Super friendly and helpful staff
CONS:
You cannot throw TOILET PAPER in the toilet due to ancient pipes LOL - this is NOT a joke and for us, it was pretty gross having to throw your used TP in a bin
Pillows are not good or comfortable
Room is dark, like very dark unless you open the curtains fully which gives the construction next door a view into your room
absolutely ZERO storage (TWO very small drawers in the entire room) and we had the biggest room. The next category up was a suite.
For 1/2 the price of the GB, it was a good stay. Definitely eat at NYX, it is excellent
This has the makings of an excellent hotel but there are a few small things that happened which stopped me giving it 5 stars.
For context, we had an executive room which we pay $800 per night for.
Let’s start with the good:
- The room was lovely. Clean, luxurious and comfortable. It had everything you needed. The bed made for a great nights sleep!
- We had massages at the spa. The whole experience was amazing and the prices were very reasonable for a hotel.
- The food at the hotel from the breakfast, to the lunch to the Japanese roof top restaurant was great. The roof top also had a great view.
The issues we had:
- I called reception to ask if they had any deodorant as I had forgotten it. They didn’t have any which is fine but I asked where could I get it from. The answer was it’s Sunday so no where. I had to push them 3/4 times before they told me actually there is a convenience store a few minutes away that is open. It just didn’t feel very helpful.
- The chamber maid came to offer us a turn down service (she was very nice and professional). We said we didn’t need the turndown service but wouldn’t mind an extra couple of towels. She went away and came back a few minutes later saying sorry they didn’t have anymore towels. It’s quite honestly ridiculous that any hotel (especially one charging $800 per night) doesn’t have additional towels.
- The food at the Japanese restaurant was excellent and the staff were very nice. However, it was extremely disorganised. You waited ages for simple things like water and orders came wrong to several people.
To conclude, it could be a great hotel but a few small things let it down.
Our recent stay at the Academias Hotel in Athens was exceptional and reminded me that truly outstanding hospitality still exists.
Shortly after arriving, I realized I had left my cell phone in a taxi. What happened next genuinely amazed me. The bellhops and front desk staff immediately sprang into action with the urgency and coordination of an ER response team — making calls, working their systems, and leveraging the taxi association network to track down my phone. There was a palpable sense of teamwork and determination. I later learned they apparently have a streak of never losing a guest’s phone, and it was clear they took enormous pride in both helping guests and maintaining that standard of service.
While we waited, the bartender — without being asked — thoughtfully brought water to us and other waiting guests, a small gesture that said a lot about the culture of hospitality at this property.
One of the bellhops also took the time to explain a beautiful original artwork that had been painted onsite just the day before, offering what felt like an expert description and adding a personal, memorable touch to the experience.
Thankfully, my phone was recovered, but what stayed with me most was the extraordinary level of care, professionalism, and pride shown by the entire team. In an era when personalized service can feel rare, the staff at Academias exceeded every expectation. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
Loved this hotel. Super nice people.
The hotel AC was awesome - it kept the room super cool. First time in Europe I was actually cold in a room. Which is a good thing! Only small issue was in the middle of the night it resets to 20. And to heat up the room I had to open the window.
The room was great. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were so attentive and friendly.
We also had dinner twice on the rooftop. Great views of the Acropolis. And good sushi!
Sadly, once again, we are left wondering if we stayed in a different hotel to any of the 5 star reviews for here. Check in was smooth. Offered a welcome non alcoholic drink. Be careful and read the small print of whatever you sign at reception. It is long winded but, trust me, it is worth it in case you have any issues. Our room was higher up the building and facing the road. To call it a 'city view' is bordering on a lie quite honestly. I do not believe facing a block of flats over the road a city view. A view - yes. Of flats - yes. In a City - yes, but come on! The noise was horrific, and I mean that. We have stayed in so many hotels around the World and yes, that includes major cities and not had this issue. We thought the window had been left open. It was impossible to get any sleep. The road outside is phenomenally noisy. We were offered another room somewhere in the hotel but a lower grade room than we had but we would still have had to pay the same price. Really? Dreadful! We didn't find the hotel good value for money either. Over priced for a room that, aside from being large, wasn't what you'd call luxurious at all. Nice shower. No doubt there will be a response to this review from the management. I would prefer it if there wasn't as we have been through this in a very detailed way both face to face and via email. Some guests plainly loved it. We did not. That's life!
Lovely hotel with very welcoming and helpful front desk. Breakfast was pleasant with a small buffet and good selection on the à la carte menu. I dined at the rooftop restaurant which had lovely views. The hotel was very helpful prior to my stay when I was enquiring about sightseeing and using the hoteI arranged a half day private city tour for me. This was the only disappointment as there was a cycle race event and some roads were closed so the ‘ tour’ took only 3 hours and the driver only took me to the Acropolis and the Lycabettus Hill so hardly worth the EUR200. It would have been nice to be informed of the event as I could have done the tour on a different day. Other than that, a very pleasant stay.
This hotel had amazing service and a great location for seeing the sights in Athens. Don’t skip the rooftop bar for awesome views. The breakfast was a standout, with plenty of healthy options like fresh fruit, protein pudding, chia seed pudding, oatmeal, eggs. Order the Greek eggs off the menu as well - delicious. Would certainly recommend and stay here again. The only thing I didn’t love was the possible see through wall in the bathroom. The control for this is outside the bathroom, so if you don’t trust your travel partner, they could have a full view of you in the shower. Very strange option in my opinion.
I always love coming back to Academias Autograph Collection in Athens – it’s one of those places that wins you over instantly and keeps drawing you back.
The hotel offers excellent facilities and a stunning design, beautifully blending modern elegance with a subtle touch of Greek heritage. The rooms are extremely comfortable, perfectly clean, and thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail – exactly what you need after a day exploring the city.
The food is absolutely amazing – whether it’s breakfast or dinner, both the quality and presentation are outstanding. And the spa? Truly unbeatable. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Overall, the hotel delivers a perfect combination of style, comfort, and top-level service. If you’re looking for an exceptional stay in Athens, this is definitely the place to be.
The beautifully appointed rooms offer a peaceful retreat with easy access to major sites. Some even boast a stunning view of the Acropolis. The fantastic staff and superb breakfast make for a truly memorable stay. The Japanese restaurant is simply magical!
Absolutely incredible experience! Everyone on the staff made every part of our experience so positive and memorable for our last night of our month long stay in Greece. The desk staff, waitress in the lobby bar/restaurant, the gentleman who helped us with our bags, the staff in the rooftop bar and the breakfast staff were all warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. The food throughout the hotel was outstanding in presentation, quality and flavor! This is a beautiful, elegant property! Sitting in the rooftop bar at night overlooking the Acropolis is one of our favorite memories of our trip!
I had a great stay here in an executive suite. While it's not located in the center of the touristy parts of Athens, it's a 10-20 minute walk to most locations which is perfectly fine. It's also very close Kolonaki and Syntagma Square. This is a boutique-style hotel with only 68 rooms which I really like. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The hotel is nicely decorated and clean. Noise could be an issue if you're on a lower floor facing the busy street but for us it was fine on a high floor. There are rooms with an acropolis view so try and ask for that when you reserve or check in. Breakfast was excellent with buffet and cooked to order items. The bathroom was a good size with the toilet separated by a glass enclosure. If I had to nitpick, the shower and bathtub have that partially open glass wall separation which is so common in newer hotels these days which I really don't prefer. It's still not a deal-breaker.
Piekny widok z tarasu restauracji!!
Mnie brakowało małego czajnika elektrycznego na wrzątek. Woda z urządzenia do kawy była dla mnie za zimna na herbate
