Location only
Everything
The room which apparently was a suite, was awful! Awaiting booking.com to deal with the complaint I have submitted.
1. Dog friendly throughout (except restaurant - you just sit in the adjacent bar area). Well priced extra cost for dog compared to other hotels (£100 deposit including a non refundable £15 fee for whole stay).
2. Super friendly and timely staff. One came to my aid when I was having trouble one night. Eternally grateful.
3. Good sized room with comfortable bed, good pillows for side sleepers, good water pressure in shower, fan that cools room well. Working kettle with tea bags and milk. Quiet hotel.
4. Excellent breakfast of cereal, breads/croissants, cooked English and assortment of drinks. For £10 each day when prepaid it was a bargain.
5. Location is superb. Stone throw from Bute park for beautiful walks and trails. Easy ride on boat to the docks (catch boat near entrance to Bute). 10 minute walk to station for excursions to Barry Island (Jackson beach for dogs). Moments from Castle and Principality stadium. Surrounded by pubs and dog friendly restaurants (Gaucho and Ivy). Close to shopping district.
1. TV had limited channels.
2. Cleaner approach varied. I once asked for fresh mugs, tea bags and a quick empty of bin thinking I would just get a quick switch of items at door as I was in. One cleaner insisted on coming in to rinse mugs in bathroom sink. I also saw him throw my carefully separated recycling bin into one black bag (I don't know why I bothered read the information on recycling). Previous staff were happy to wait outside door and deal with things at the door.
3. A sheet rather than duvet would be appreciated in warmer weather as it was a very warm duvet (perfect for winter).
We couldn't fault our stay
The staff was the only good thing about this hotel and potentially the area, even though there was some homeless/rowdy crowd around it.
The rooms are horrible and extremely OLD. Do NOT book at this place, there was mold on the walls, the carpet was extremely stained and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in YEARS. Extremely outdated.
Central location, comfortable room, clean and tidy, attending a concert very short stay
Central to city centre
Windows not staying open, had to wedge a bin to keep open because it was very hot in room.
Didn’t stay after finding pubic hairs in the bathroom
Old, delapidated and dirty. Such a shame because it’s part of Cardiff history
Really good location. Lovely old world hotel. Does need a bit of updating
No Air conditioning although there were fans in the room but uncomfortably hot
Lady on the desk was very friendly and was so welcoming and helpful
Room had a bad odor
Staff were excellent went out of their way to look after you.
NA
Everything about the hotel was great value for money, staff very friendly and helpful
Sehr nettes Personal und eine gute Lage. Das Hotel ist alt und schön. Super Preis - Leistungsverhältnis.
Das des Hotels macht sich an verschiedenen Stellen bemerkbar, z.B. Lüftungsmöglichkeiten.
Wonderful faded grandeur, comfy beds and lively staff.
No hand held shower attachment.
The Angel is our choice of hotel in Cardiff centre.
It is bright and has some old fashioned charm 😉
Nothing

Windows in my room stuck firmly shut,so the nice big fan just moved hot air about.
