The location and nice building
Our room had a terrible smell and the carpet was very stained. Our room felt dirty, old and unkept (even though it looked lovely in pictures). Our bed was small and, even though it’s great to be by the station, the curtains in the room let the light in and, let me tell you, the station leaves the lights on all night, so there is a lot of light when you try to sleep!
The room doesn’t have a mini fridge and the bathroom sink is so small it’s hard to wash your face!

Average quality, seemed somewhat disorganised, very slow service, especially at the weekend. Had a strange conversation on my last day. Came down for breakfast and one of the staff said are you leaving today. I said yes and was asked it I wanted to hand my key over. The member of staff then realised, as I was only having breakfast and had not moved my belongings yet, that it was a daft question. Oh well
General cleaning, Looks rather grubby. Also, I have never been in a hotel before where the main door is locked at 8pm (?)

It was tired looking and the bedroom needed updating. No wardrobe, just hooks on the wall ; no chair at all and the sash cord on the window was broken. We had to borrow a block of wood to prop it open.
The dining room furniture should definitely be replaced.

We sliepen op de eerste verdieping aan de tuinzijde. Het was erg warm op de kamer. Het enige raam op de kamer kon maar een klein stukje open door slecht onderhoud. De kleine tafelventilator maakte veel lawaai en weinig verschil! Helaas geen koelkast in de kamer.

There were obvious cricket ..supporters cutting through the lawn on there way to the station drink involved and quite upsetting when sat outside having a quiet drink

Great location with parking, close to the town centre. The staff did their best to make us comfortable in the intense heat.
No air conditioning. I understand it’s a listed building, and therefore air conditioning cannot be installed, but there was only a small fan in our room and no fans or portable units in any of the public areas, which were hot and airless. There were not enough staff at breakfast, nor was there any visible presence from the management. This led to long waits for food.

Parking was a bit chaotic if a conference is on. Car registration does not ask for a mobile number in case you get hemmed in.
Couldn't work out how to switch off the mirror light in the bathroom.
