Nice hotel, but left a bad taste due to theft.

Cons:

Cleaners steal, so you need to be careful with your stuff. Things were stolen from my daughter’s bag and it was denied, but when I insisted, half the things were found mysteriously in the bin, when before it was denied it was there

Nice stay
Pros:

Huge rooms with amazing views of the city! Near to Shinagawa train station which is very convenient. Just a bit of an uphill walk to the hotel from the station. Amenities were wonderful and this was my second stay at this hotel. The garden behind the hotel is serene, the koi pond was gorgeous and the shrine was beautiful.

Pros:

Rent og pænt hotel med god morgenmad. Desuden en fin shuttle-bus service til Shinagawa station. Vand og god drip Coffee på værelset.

Cons:

Det opkræves et gigantisk ekstra gebyr for at bruge pool områderne. Det koster 6000 yen pr. person. Herudover 6000 for en parasol og liggestol. Prisen er pr. dag .
Prisen står ikke på booking.com’s hjemmeside.

Det gamle aircondition anlæg kan ikke følge med i varmen. Vi havde stillet det på maksimal kulde og der var stadig 25 grader i rummet.

We stayed at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa for 5 nights, and while the stay was alright, it was definitely not worthy of its 5-star rating.

The first impression is excellent. The reception lobby is beautiful, elegant, and gives you the feeling that you’re about to have a luxury experience. Unfortunately, that feeling disappears as soon as you head towards the rooms. The hallways feel dated, and the rooms themselves seem designed to look much better in photos than they do in reality.

The biggest disappointment was the pool. Even as a paying hotel guest, you have to pay around €30 per person just to access it. On top of that, if you want a proper sunbed, you have to pay an additional fee; otherwise, you’re left sitting on a basic plastic chair. To make matters worse, the pool is only about 1 meter deep throughout, so it’s hardly a place where you can properly relax or swim. For a hotel advertising itself as 5 stars, this was honestly shocking.

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Shinagawa Station, which is perfectly manageable. The Japanese garden is absolutely beautiful and was easily one of the highlights of our stay. The spa is decent as well and reasonably priced at around €10 per person.

The hotel is clean, and the rooms are slightly larger than what you’d typically expect in Japan, which is definitely a plus. Having a 7-Eleven inside the hotel was also very convenient.

However, after staying in a 3-star hotel, a 4-star hotel, and this so-called 5-star hotel during our trip to Japan, I have to say this was my least favorite. It simply doesn’t deliver the level of luxury, service, or facilities that a 5-star hotel should offer.

Overall, it’s not a bad hotel, but it’s significantly overpriced for what you get. Tokyo has many better options at this price point, and I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
