Pros:

Roomy and clean except the dead cockroach.

Cons:

I found an extremely large dead cockroach under the vanity. Location was super challenging to get to due to events; traffic was horrendous!

Urvi is a star!
Pros:

We were visiting during Jazz Fest and it was amazing time. Urvashi at the restaurant managed the crowd so well. Though there was a huge queue on Saturday she assured us the my party of 6 will get seated and so we did get seated. Food was good great service. She said the wait would be 30 minutes and she was on point. 5 star room quality and like every year we love this hotel.

Unpleasantly surprised
Pros:

I was genuinely looking forward to spending a relaxing weekend with my elderly parents at this hotel. I specifically selected it through Amex Travel because it looked like a great property and, as an American Express Platinum Card member, I booked through The Hotel Collection expecting a certain level of service and hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of those expectations.

When we arrived, the hotel was extremely busy, with what appeared to be several events or festivities taking place. I initially thought, “Oh, we just happened to come on a particularly busy weekend.” No problem,, I completely understand that hotels have busy periods.

At check-in, the young woman at the front desk informed me that, because the hotel was so busy, they would not be able to provide a room upgrade under The Hotel Collection benefits. I understood and accepted that. However, her demeanor was noticeably cold and indifferent. While she wasn’t necessarily rude, the message certainly could have been delivered with a little more warmth and hospitality.
We went upstairs, and thankfully, the room itself was nice. My parents loved it, which was the most important thing to me.

Later, I returned to the front desk and asked the same employee where I could park if I decided to rent a car. Again, in the same cold and indifferent tone, she told me there was no self-parking for hotel guests and that the only option was valet parking for approximately $50 per night. Fine. I accepted that and took an Uber to pick up my rental car.

This is where the experience became completely unacceptable.

When I returned to the hotel with the rental car, I was told by a valet attendant that valet parking was full and that I needed to park at a public parking lot a couple of blocks away. His demeanor was also cold and dismissive, and before I even had an opportunity to fully explain the situation, I was essentially told to move along.
At this point, I tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. The hotel was clearly busy, and perhaps the staff were stressed. However, at a major hotel brand, and particularly at a property positioned at this level,,I would expect employees to remain professional and treat paying hotel guests with basic courtesy regardless of how busy things become.

I drove several blocks away and paid $20 to park in a public lot, only to then be told that the car could remain there only until midnight. Obviously, that was not a workable solution for an overnight hotel guest. Where exactly was I supposed to leave my rental car overnight?

Frustrated, I contacted American Express Travel, explained the situation, and asked whether we could be moved to another hotel. Amex placed me on hold while they contacted the hotel directly. A short time later, the representative told me they had spoken with someone in charge of parking and confirmed that I would now be allowed to valet my car.

So I walked several blocks back to retrieve the rental car and drove to the hotel again.

To my surprise, I was once again met by the same valet attendant and told that I could NOT valet the car.

Another supervisor eventually came over and explained that valet parking was full because people attending outside events near the hotel had also been allowed to valet their vehicles, and parking was being handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This was absolutely baffling to me.

Are you seriously telling me that parking for people attending outside events is being prioritized to the point that an actual overnight hotel guest—who was specifically told by the hotel that valet was the only parking option—has nowhere to park?

I contacted Amex Travel AGAIN. They confirmed that they had already spoken directly with the hotel and that I should be allowed to valet. Eventually, another supervisor came over and finally authorized my vehicle to be accepted. Even then, the original valet attendant continued arguing that I could not valet until the supervisor essentially told him, “For him, he can valet.”

Why did it have to reach this point?

What should have been the simple act of parking my car turned into hours of unnecessary frustration, multiple conversations with hotel staff, two calls to American Express Travel, walking back and forth several blocks, paying for temporary public parking, and repeatedly being told conflicting information.

The entire ordeal significantly affected what was supposed to be an enjoyable weekend with my elderly parents and left me with an extremely poor first impression of this hotel.

To make matters worse, there was also considerable noise at night from the various activities and events taking place around the property, which further diminished the experience.

I understand that hotels get busy. I understand that upgrades are based on availability. I even understand that parking capacity can become limited. What I do not understand is how a hotel can tell an overnight guest that valet is the only parking option, allow that valet capacity to be filled by outside event attendees, and then leave the hotel guest with nowhere to park. Even more disappointing was the consistently cold and dismissive attitude I encountered while simply trying to resolve the situation.

For a property carrying the Signia by Hilton name and participating in American Express’ Hotel Collection, I expected a significantly higher standard of hospitality, communication, and guest service.

Unfortunately, this experience has made me seriously reconsider choosing Signia or Hilton properties for my future travels. What was supposed to be a special weekend with my parents instead began with hours of completely avoidable frustration, and that is not the kind of experience I expected from a hotel of this caliber.

Clean, comfortable hotel with a great downtown location
Pros:

The room was very clean, bright, and comfortable, with lots of natural light. The blackout curtains worked perfectly, the beds were comfortable, and housekeeping cleaned the room every day. Great location near the San Jose Museum of Art and The Tech Interactive, and about a 10–15 minute walk to San Pedro Square Market

Cons:

We didn’t notice any significant downsides during our stay.

Horrible Hotel burglary incident happened in Signia Hilton San Jose
Pros:

I am writing as a business traveler who checked into the Signia by Hilton San Jose ( 5 star hotel ) late afternoon on July 27, 2026.

On the evening of July 27, while I was back my hotel room, I was the victim of a robbery of my personal property in the room and theft. Personal belongings and cash were taken away. I immediately reported the incident to hotel security, who acknowledged the report and conducted an on-site inspection of the room on the same later night.

Hotel didn’t offer me another room to calm my anxiety mood until I as customer strongly asked them.

On the evening of July 28, the second room suffered a significant water leak of the facility after taking the shower, the facility was unusable till I called the maintenance to fix it.

These incidents — a serious security failure resulting in room robbery and theft, followed by a the facility malfunction — have caused substantial distress ( I can’t keep my sleep every night after incident and have to keep the lights on in the room while sleeping ), inconvenience, and personal property loss. As a guest of a five-star property, I find the level of service, safety, and facility maintenance entirely unacceptable.

I didn’t get any satisfactory resolution before my departure on Thursday, July 30.

• No confirmation of security report and any interal investigation finding back to me.
• A clear proposal for compensation covering the lost personal property, cash, and related mental ( for example, any anxiety/sleep issues ) damages.
