Excellent Value for money.
Pros:

The facilities were very tidy, comfortable and the service from staff on check in and out was great. Reception even called us a taxi and it was ready as we came down to the lobby.

Cons:

Parking was full and no way to pre book, made it difficult as we were on a time crunch for work event and I was required to drive around to find very expensive carpark and walk

Clean room, no wifi instructions, AC was not on so there was a bit of a trial and error in the middle of the night

Cons:

the corridors were so narrow as you step on the upper floor of the rooms, it was dingy.

Great stay in one of the best locations to access The Rocks, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.
Pros:

Novotel Sydney Centre is the perfect location for a weekend stay in Sydney. Easy walking distance to the Rocks/Circular Quay as well as Darling Harbour. The hotel is close by to other great bars/ restaurants and close to Wynyard Station and light rail lines. We will definitely stay here again next time we are having a weekend stay in Sydney.

Cannot fault anything about our stay.

The hotel is just a short walk from Wynyard train station and numerous bus stops, with easy access to the light rail and the ferry terminals — perfect if you plan to use public transport to explore the city. (Note: I mean “ferries,” not “fairies.”)

For practical needs, the property is conveniently close to Woolworths and Coles, so grocery and quick-meal shopping is effortless. Many of Sydney’s main sights, restaurants and business areas are within comfortable walking distance, making the hotel a great base whether you’re sightseeing or working.

If location and transport convenience are top priorities for your stay in Sydney, Novotel Sydney City Centre is an excellent choice.

While Novotel Sydney City Centre has an excellent location, there are a few practical drawbacks I noticed that may matter to some travellers.

- General condition: Much of the property feels dated and in need of refurbishment.
- Accessibility: The entrance has very high steps, so guests with reduced mobility or older travellers are likely to need to use the ramp to access the main foyer — this is important to know in advance.
- Elevators: There are three lifts, but each is quite small. They become cramped with more than two or three people plus luggage, which can slow movement and feel uncomfortable.
- Room size and layout: Rooms are compact and feel claustrophobic. Narrow circulation around the bed and tight bathroom layouts require careful manoeuvring.
- Storage: Limited built-in storage for luggage and clothing means packing light or using suitcases in awkward spots.
- Ceiling height: Some ceilings are low, which may be restrictive for taller guests and reduces the sense of space.

Pros:

The room was very clean and beautifully designed. The location was also very convenient, with cafés nearby and easy access to the Sydney Opera House.

Cons:

I understand that staff can be very busy during check-in. However, despite checking my ID and verbally confirming with me that I was staying for one night, the staff member checked me in under another guest’s name.

While I was out with my friend, another guest was then given access to my room. As a result, my belongings were removed from the room and placed in the luggage room. When I returned to the hotel, I couldn't access my room and had to go through the check-in process again.

What was particularly frustrating was being asked by the check-in staff whether I had made a double booking, even though the issue had occurred because I had originally been checked in under the wrong guest’s name.

I appreciate that the hotel manager took the time to locate my actual booking and resolve the situation. However, I hope greater care can be taken during check-in to ensure that guests are checked in under the correct name, especially after their ID and booking details have been confirmed.
