Close to downtown area
Dingy looking inside, carpet needs to be removed, a/c unit had mold residue and the cover to control it fell off when lifted, tv froze many times, toilet flushed at a very slow pace and filled up with lots of water slowly.
Just had to give a quick shout out to the night front desk worker aka Mrs Jam(jamela) because workthe night shift a being that kind to everyone is not for the week especially staying up all these hours inthe middle of the night alone
The high point of the stay was having a room ready upon early check in. Unfortunately, the room type I had reserved (king bed) was not available and she stated the hotel had over booked king bed rooms, but a room with two queens was available. That was great and an early check in is always appreciated. The other good part was Brooke, the server in the food area. She was very busy (and I heard two staff had quit unexpectedly) but she was quick and the cook prepared good food for hotel standards.
My issues came into play with the pool area, housekeeping, and keys being deactivated twice.
Pool: I purposely booked a hotel with an outdoor pool (after canceling a hotel without a pool) because even though it is March, I’m from the north and lounging by the pool in the sun was on my to-do list for this vacation. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen because even though the pool was open, the building blocked the sun so even if it was warm enough, there was no sun reaching the pool area.
Key deactivation: I travel enough to know not to put keys next to cell phones. I have never stayed at a hotel where my keys have been deactivated twice in one stay. Both times I had my hands full and was exhausted and had to go to the front desk, and of course had a guest in front of me with an issue. The first time I was on my way out and forgot something in my room, so I was late for a lunch with family. The second time I commented on the deactivation happening twice, and I was told not to keep it near cell phones. No apology. There was another guest complaining about key deactivation as well so it wasn’t just me.
Room service: minimal at best. There was a used bottle of lotion in the bathroom and the shower had two shampoo instead of one shampoo and body wash. The beds were made daily, but the bar soap was taken away and no soap provided. No lotion was ever supplied. No extra towels or washcloths. There was one small trash can for bathroom and bedroom, and it was overflowing and not emptied. I honestly didn’t even bring it up because I didn’t have time or feel like dealing with it. To me, having the basic toiletries/services shouldn’t require me to ask for it. I had requested daily room service on my check in.
There is a $4 plus charge for a medium coffee. I paid it, because I need my coffee. The coffee is put out later in the day, but you have to pay in the morning.
Front desk staff was helpful but everything else went wrong…
We stayed at this hotel for two nights. At the first night, the ventilation system in the bathroom kept running as nonstop for unknown reason. After called the front desk about this issue, a female staff came up to the room and removed/unplugged the vent system. She said it’s been a known issue with some rooms’ vent system would keep running. The solution was to remove/unplugged it. She said their maintenance staff will come to the room during the day to fix it the next day. I asked her “so just leave the vent hanging over in the ceiling? What happens when we need to use the shower in the morning because there will be a lot of moisture and humidity in the bathroom?”. The staff said “just leave the bathroom room door open once you are done with the shower”.
The next morning, the front desk called us and woke us up at 8 am. The call was to ask us if their maintenance could come in to put the ventilation system back because there was a misunderstanding. The ventilation system will stop on its own when the humidity level is low. Last night’s staff should not have removed/unplugged it. I answered that we were still sleeping and please came after 12 pm. (They shouldn’t just call customers in the morning and should have just slide in a piece of note under the door). Around 10:30 am when we left the room, we made sure the “no disturb tag” was not hung outside of the door, we left used towels on the barhtub for the housekeeper to bring clean towels and clean our room. We also advised the front desk that they can go to the room to fix the ventilation system when we came down to the lobby.
At 23:30 pm when we returned to the room, we were shocked that all used towels were still left on the floor. Our room was not cleaned, no clean towels were brought into our room either. The ventilation system was still removed/unplugged and hanging on the ceiling. We called the front desk and complained.
Don’t normally take the time to review hotels, but felt given the current state of this one it’s worth it to warn others. This hotel is in desperate need of updating. The hallways are narrow with low ceilings. The rooms look like they are out of the early 2000s with the exception of the flatscreen. My bathroom had hairs all over it and a toilet that barely flushed. Typical older courtyard property where there are scratches, dents, missing paint on every surface you look at. Thing that sent me over the edge are the tiny showers with the shower head that is at my chest height and I’m only 6’2. Nothing like having to squat in your hairy shower to get the whole body in the water!
Everything. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Staff was outstanding.
Nothing
Didn't make breakfast.
Front desk staff could of been friendlier at check in.
