Location. It was also quiet in our room which faced the station. Room quite spacious but we did pay extra for this (executive room).
Not like a hotel - more like a cheap b and b. However cost a lot more! Room was extremely hot although heatwave essentially over. Windows only opened a few inches. Bathroom in very poor state of decoration. 'Luxury' toiletries were anything but. Smell of mould in room. Mattress cover and bottom sheet not big enough for mattress. No housekeeping - had to seek out tea/milk and toilet roll ourselves. Breakfast very basic.
The room was extremely hot in July, regardless of the nighttime temperature was only 13-14 degrees. The only options were a small fan and a narrow gap in the window that you could open. Outside, a machine was very noisy at night. The shower and toilet were unacceptable. Paying £360 for three nights was not good value considering the poor standard.
Location was excellent. Straight out of station and into the hotel. Bed was comfortable. Fan supplied, very useful in this warm weather. Buffet style breakfast, with good choice, reflective of price charged.
Lift not working, waiting for part (still in same condition when I returned for 2nd stay 4 days later). The furniture was a bit dated and there were no biscuits on the tea tray (both stays). Unable to move the window. Breakfast not as good on 2nd visit
The breakfast was fine but i think maybe the staff could be more knowledgeable about dietary requirements, i am coeliac and cannot have gluten. The chef cooked a separate breakfast for me in the end as i cannot have food off the buffet service due to cross contamination.
Maybe the receptionist at the desk could have been a little more welcoming, she was rather abrupt we felt.

Centrally located ideal for train station great for wandering around town . The staff here are really good helpful with anything required and knowledgable . The room are very clean and although warm a fan was already working in room when I arrived which helped . I didn’t use the bar this time it has a very well stocked selection of beers wine and spirits. The breakfast offer a wide and varied selection to cover all tastes and caters for everyone. Tea and coffee provided in room as well
The lift dint work but I knew this prior to arrival and was told anytime I needed to use it staff would take me but I just used the stairs
Staff were superb, very friendly, hotel was clean and decorated to a modern standard, white, grey, black. Location was fantastic, easy to get anywhere and great for travelling by train.
Bed was firm, pillows soft, quite warm weather so just slept above the covers.
Breakfast was fine, bog standard fare for a hotel really, breakfast buffet, small plates and tiny glasses for juice but you can go back up as many times as you like.
I, like most people do, book somewhere and look at the bad reviews, main complaints were staff, cleanliness and outdoor noise... I've already addressed the first two and as for noise, well what on earth do you expect, it's a city centre hotel right next to a train station! If you want quiet the go to the middle of nowhere.
The good stuff far outweighed the bad, but it wasn't perfect.
My suite was nice, cracking view, but the bed was on the opposite side of the room to the plug sockets... the fan provided didn't quite reach far enough to do much good in the heat.
The bathroom could do with modernising, the only bit that looked a bit dated which made it look out of place.
The toilet took several flushes to flush away any poop and bog roll, it would flush properly but it took several before it flushed everything away.
Cold water was warm in the sink while the shower was either very hot or scolding hot, even on the coldest setting you could make a Pot Noodle with it.
When I checked in I was told I could pay an extra £15 for a late checkout for 1pm, which I said I would do, another member of staff told me and the lad checking me in that as I was in a suite it was an automatic 1pm checkout, no need to pay. After breakfast I decided to have a nap until about 12:30, however at 11:05, about 20 minutes into my nap, I got a phone call from reception with a polite reminder that I was due to checkout at 11am, obviously I told her what had been said the day before and she apologised. Just a little breakdown in communication and no harm done. Just a nap ruined, not the end of the world.
Overall I enjoyed my visit, if I stayed again I'd ask for a different room, unless the bathroom gets renovated.
Great Locations.
Friendly lady on reception.
Good bar area.
Lift out of order (not a complaint as these things happen)
Room far too warm, even with fan and no air con.
Bathroom very dated and not the cleanest. Hair in bath etc
Central. Clean. Friendly. Comfortable.
Poor WiFi. Poor TV channel selection. Paying for parking @ £12 per day!

Really nice place great location staff very helpful so overall very happy with our stay
Nothing
Location good, especially if travelling by train
The location was fantastic and the price we paid for the room was so good.
The bar area was dead chilled and relaxing with a good selection of drinks and snacks and the room was a really nice size with a very comfy bed 🙂
Bar and reception staff friendly and helpful.
There were hairs in the bath when we arrived and they definitely weren’t ours. The bathroom window couldn’t be opened and there was an awful damp smell in the bathroom-the room was very warm even with the fan on and the fact that the bathroom window couldn’t be left open left me feeling very claustrophobic.
The breakfast staff definitely need some training on customer care but overall this is a good hotel and we enjoyed our stay and I’d definitely stay here again going by the price and location.
