We stayed one night in this old Victorian house, which was renovated a few years ago by the new owners. Our room was generously sized and really lovely, with a big, comfortable bed and a Nespresso machine, along with high-quality Highland Soap toiletries. Modern touches like USB ports by the bed were combined nicely with original features such as the old wooden floorboards and furniture that fits the character of the house.
In the evening we ate at the hotel restaurant, which has a strong North Indian focus, reflecting the owners' own background. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was busy, so booking ahead is definitely recommended even for hotel guests. The menu also includes local classics like fish and chips, but the Indian dishes are clearly the signature and a real highlight of the stay.
The team was very friendly throughout. There is ample parking and a comfortable lounge to relax in. The setting is quiet, slightly off the main road running north to south.
A very comfortable stay overall, in a house that has been carefully renovated without losing its historic charm.
Breakfast was a little behind the rest of the experience. It's a buffet with a few warm dishes, plus eggs cooked to order. A bit more variety, perhaps with an Indian touch, would have been a nice addition, though this is more a suggestion than a real criticism.
The Indian food in the restaurant was good but expensive for the quantity of meat that was in the meal. Putting loads of rice out is cheap. Staff were very friendly.
The breakfast would have been better with back bacon rather than streaky bacon. Had to get the bathroom fan turned off as constantly on.
Lovely old property and staff very helpful except the person on the reception at departure was not very good.
Breakfast was awful but the evening meal was good . There was a terrible noise coming from ? Somewhere along the corridor and we were in room 10 .
A room in a house constructed in 1840 in a tranquil setting. What could be better?
Wonderful greeting from reception, our room was quiet and charming, we had drinks from their adorable bar out to the picnic tables on the front lawn, and enjoyed a varied and excellent buffet breakfast. Really a lovely place.
Nothing!
Abendessen war gut, Frühstück ebenso
Dusche nur mit fixem Duschkopf.
Everything
We booked a room with fireplace, but our room didn’t have one.
clean, staff friendly, safe place to stay, not far to travel for meals. Beautiful looking building
noisy for our room, which was across from kitchen, okay if you went to sleep late. could hear the people moving around above us, I understand it’s a old building, but we had stayed in a few and it wasn’t that noisy. towels hard. breakfast average. over priced.
Profesjonalna obsługa
Overall a nice hotel, clean, good breakfast, nothing wrong.
Price/performance does not feel right however. It was by far our most expensive stay of the holiday, probably because there's limited choice in the vicinity.
