Nothing could be better
Breakfast is excellent. It's fresh and made to order from a menu with excellent variety.
The location is on the river walk. Everything was in a convenient walking distance.
The hotel interior is beautiful and appears to be recently modernized.
Getting luggage to/from the car and hotel entrance is a little difficult since the hotel is located in an older part of the city, but the staff did assist.
This was our first trip to Lisbon so we wanted a good hotel that was well placed, Hotel Metropole fits that description perfectly. We had a room on the 5th floor overlooking Rossio square with the castle on the hill behind. The Room was spotlessly clean (and cleaned every day) and spacious and set at a good temperature. Lots of storage for clothes. Walking to the waterfront was easy, all flat and no hills to negotiate. A short walk from the hotel gets you to shops, bakeries, restaurants and bars - perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the reception team - We asked for a kettle and got one immediately, we asked for the safety deposit key - no problem. The breakfast had ample choice and was good value. We loved our stay here - we left with nothing but good thoughts of Hotel Metropole and the people of Lisboa
there is nothing to complain about here, we would stay here again on our next visit - the lift is small but i was eating so many pastel de natas that i chose to take the stairs every day instead
The Hotel Location.
The facilities and Safety.
Etablissement parfaitement sirué. Personnel disponible et excellent peti-déjeuner. Je recommande.
Situation, disponibilité du petsonnel, peti-déjeuner
Central location. Excellent breakfast.
Not having pool or outside area.
Das Personal war sehr nett und das Frühstück gut.
Die Zimmer zum Platz sind sehr laut und die Fenster schließen nicht gut. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht ganz.
We had a wonderful stay. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the beautiful view made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommended!
Location was on a very busy street with a lot of traffic and pedestrian noise. This wasn’t made clear when originally booking.
The hotel is very well located, on Praca Don Carlos, a short walk from Rossio station. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and well furnished
I am sure in the past this hotel had a grand entrance off the Praca into a large reception lobby. However, that is now taken up by restaurants so the entrance to the hotel is via a small doorway (tradesman's entrance) to their side where you take a short lift ride to floor 1 where reception is. The photos on this site do not reflect that. It is also in need of a bit of a refurbish all round. We had an issue with our room which we had to raise with staff. To be fair Joao and his female trainee assistant dealt with it very professionally and courteously and the matter was resolved very quickly so thanks to those 2 staff members for doing so. One big surprise though, for a hotel which caters for a large number of foreign travellers (as evidenced from the different languages heard at breakfast) is there was not a single foreign language channel available on the tv. Surely that is a quick and easy fix for Metropole to put right? Given the room price I am sure most travellers would expect it.
Location can't be beat, easy walking distance to major sites, shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and the windows facing the square didn't let in much noise.
Overall dingy in appearance, furniture is quite old in appearance, the carpets throughout look quite old/stained, the elevator is slow, the breakfast was extremely average.
