The location is further away from the city centre than we expected. To walk would be about 40 minutes which was ok but in 36 degree heat it took its toll sometimes so we got cabs quite often.
The was no atmosphere at all. It advertised a bar in the evening but it was held in the same garden as breakfast and you just requested drinks - twice we went and it was empty both times.
The room was nice and clean, beds made and towels changed everyday. The beds however were extremely hard - I was fine but my husband wasn’t and his creaked on every movement he made.
I can’t comment on the value as I didn’t book it. The only noise we heard was the emergency services…..and it was often. However we only heard it when in the bathroom as the window was always open.
The service and staff were great, I got my gluten free bits every morning (bread, muffins and butter biscuits were available). They were always friendly and helped my husband sort an anniversary surprise for me, the lady was very excited when she asked me if I liked it.
This is not a normal hotel we would stay at - we normally go for a big busy hotel, the only downside was the location. If you want a quiet stay then this is for you.
Thank you all
So I was a little dubious about this hotel !! Booked with confidence after reading the good reviews however along came some negativity. However I will speak as I found , as a lone parent with two teenagers I couldn’t fault the place, I did contact them prior to ask if I could stay in the main part of the hotel rather than an annex which was adhered, room clean with good maid service every day, little away from the main attractions, however we preferred this, Lots of bars and restaurants nearby all at reasonable prices , only fault was breakfast was a little repetitive and not much choice, other reviews mention bed bugs , only bites we had were I think mosquito’s. Staff friendly and helpful, wouldn’t hesitate staying here again.
Lovely hotel. Not too far away from city centre. Good transport links.
Stayed in room 508, a bit dated but comfortable. Air con. Good sized bathroom with all amenities.
Breakfast was good and i would say something for everyone tastes.
Lovely outdoor area .
Fridge in room.
Booked through Hayes travel!
Now! Ants in bathroom ( not just a few) which was reported to hotel staff and assured this would be sorted. It wasnt!
Hundreds of ants outside of doorway, nothing done!
Beds felt damp!
Bitten all down legs and arms- not sure what and i cant assume it was the hotel but every morning i had more!
Hayes travel still promote this hotel on social media platforms ,years ahead with simple monthly payments.
It is a lovely looking hotel with hard working staff but they dont deal with issues that arise, once your booked in thats it!
Terrible location
We stayed in the annex
Terrible room
Very dated
No facilities.
Breakfast very basic
Ordered a taxi from reception to the airport.
Driver tried to charge us €80 for a €55 journey.
I complained to receptionist & he said that you pay for the taxi to come to the hotel.
We ended up paying €8 to get our luggage out of the car.
Before he would let us leave.
No support from receptionist
Definitely wouldn’t stay there again
Great hotel. We stayed in the hotel rooms that are based in the apartment block across the road. It’s about a minute walk to the hotel. It was a lovely walk to breakfast every morning. We had 2 rooms as we are a family of 5. Our room which had 3 of us in was a bit cramped but we only slept in it and out all day so we didn’t mind
Breakfast was lovely plenty to choose from. Lovely outside area but the wasps were getting on my nerves so we sat inside which was a shame.
Spent 3 nights here in June during a mini heatwave, the trip was booked by our daughter as a gift. The hotel is a little away from the sights, but is on local bus routes, and a 10 - 15 minute walk to the train station. If you want to walk to some of the popular sights you're looking at 40 minute walk. There are a few local restaurants nearby which we used and were all excellent. The area felt very safe.
Our room was on the smaller side, but adequate, and spotlessly clean with a contemporary theme. We were bed and breakfast, the breakfasts were a little limited and locally themed. There was reasonable choice, it is a small boutique hotel so there isn't the choice you'd expect at a larger establishment. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoyed our stay, but would probably book somewhere nearer the sights if we returned to Rome.
המיקום מצוין,קרוב לתחנות אוטובוס.
ארוחת בוקר טובה ממש.
הצוות מאד נחמד ועוזר
Limpieza y atencion
The Hotel was reasonably clean, rooms small but suitable and the breakfasts were good.
Reception staff were rude and operate a taxi scam.
Rome caps airport taxi fares (set at a fixed rate) primarily to protect tourists and visitors from overcharging and scams. By establishing a clear, flat-rate system for the most popular tourist routes, the city ensures a transparent price that travellers can verify before they even start their journey. The fixed rates (which apply to officially licensed, white metered taxis for up to four passengers with luggage) are legally regulated by the municipality.
As stated above, the white taxis have a capped fare both to and from Fiumicino Airport of 55Euro. ('Tariffario Taxi - Dali' Aeroporto di Fiumicino all'interno Mura Aureliane e viceversa'.)
Garden Hotel Reception wanted to charge 70Euro to the Airport, and consequently this was declined. I asked Reception to call me a regular white taxi, which they did. When the Taxi arrived reception checked the taxi (a little odd). On arrival at the airport we were demanded to pay 80Euro - I requested to speak to Police (there were none around - although this is the best option under these circumstances), but he continued to demand the money. The driver called the Hotel who had informed the Driver of the fare and who asked him for their costs. Time was ticking and the driver was paid the money to ensure that we were not late for the flight.
The Garden Hotel operates a Scam Taxi Service.
The Garden Hotel is undermining the city's positive intentions to protect tourists. You would be better avoiding the scam and the Hotel completely. Who knows what else is operating at the expense of tourists and their customers.
Taxi and Driver details have been shared with the authorities and the Hotel has also been reported.
Værelset var godt. Toilet og bad godt
Morgenmad kunne være bedre.
We have just had a fantastic stay at the Rome garden Hotel. We were originally booked to be in the annexe and after reading reviews we were a bit concerned. However we were pleasantly surprised to be placed in the main hotel when we arrived which was a relief. We were in room 105 which was a big spacious room with a lovely modern bathroom. The room had a safe and a large wardrobe and we had plenty of room for the 3 of us. The room was really clean and was made up for us every day and fresh towels provided every day too. We found all the staff we met to be very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was absolutely fine-lots of choice. Pastries, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, bread, cheese, ham plus coffee, tea and juices. We found plenty to choose from and were always able to find a table when we went down for breakfast. We found the location to be good-about a 30 minute walk from Trevi etc but we didn’t mind the walk at all. Overall a really great hotel that we would definitely recommend to others.
