nicely situated hotel
Pros:

I came to the Interconti with my grandson. The swimming pool is great. Breakfast is awesome, varied and the waiters/waitresses are helpful and nice. The room is correct and the cleanng lady is so nice. The hotel is at walking distance to every important place to visit. The only drawback is to even at 35th level it is rather noisy (air-con and noise from the streets.till 11 or 12pm.

Pros:

Location was perfect to everything. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

My room did not have cold AC running. It took 2 days to get someone to come and fix it, which it was fix the night before checkout.

Spacious rooms
Pros:

Location of the hotel is great in terms of proximity to the major tourist spots. Rooms are very spacious, especially the suites. they really need to do a better job keeping the pool clean; the day we went there were pieces of Styrofoam floating in the pool and clumps of hair lining the walls. It was very off putting and we did not go in. The exercise facility and sauna were great and breakfast was convenient as it opened early and offered both buffet and à la carte options.

Fabulous Location and Service
Pros:

We stayed at the IHG Chicago Magnificent Mile during a heat wave. Luckily, the central location makes it easy to see plenty without walking too far. A short walk takes you to the Navy Pier, the Riverwalk, and wonderful shopping. It is also close to the Grand St Chicago L, so you can reach anywhere downtown easily. The hotel also has two restaurants, a bar and an on-site Starbucks. There is a junior-Olympic size indoor pool in a lovely room. The full workout facility was not crowded when we were there. The room service was speedy and friendly (although incredibly expensive.) We enjoyed our visit and are already making plans to return.

Great location but....
Pros:

Great location but we had to call the front desk several times about issues with our 1 bedroom suite.
Water pressure in shower was terrible. They did fix by removing sediment in shower head. Had issues with cable on the tv. Engineer reset. Had issues with flickering bedside lamp.

Awesome location!
Pros:

We had two rooms at this hotel and I will say that the size and ammenities of each room varied greatly although they should have been the same. I would give this property 5 stars just for location! BUT I can’t give them 5 overall because there were a couple issues. First and foremost I had chances to interact with the front desk about 6 times for various things and not one time did I have anyone nice. The bell staff was so kind and awesome! But the staff at check in / front desk couldn’t have been ruder each time. Including a manager who saw me ask questions and had the employee inquire to her in front of me and she didn’t even glance or come over. Rarely do I experience staff like this at a hotel. The second prob with the hotel is it needs an update. We were on the 16th floor and not sure what other rooms looked like. They were clean and ok but for the price we paid I want high end. Also make sure to not pre pay for your room as that seemed to be the biggest thorn in my side the entire time. So while I loved the location as it is one of the best in Chicago they are failing their guests with their staff.

A nice hotel, but….
Pros:

Lovely hotel in a great location.

For a business hotel there were no usb sockets in our suite plus power outlets were very scarce. There was an over reliance on extension cables under the bed and behind the sofa, which was a bit concerning.

Housekeeping was a hit or miss. Room not serviced etc.

Would I stay again? Yes, but I would lower my expectations. Ambassador status was acknowledged, but meant nothing in reality.

This place is the worst
Pros:

This place is the worst. Don’t waste your money on your points. The first room smelled like smoke. They moved me and the air conditioning didn’t work and the toilet kept
Running. Asked to move again the room smelled again. My luggage never made it up to the room when I checked in so I had to go down and ask where it was. Don’t bother.

Pros:

Cleanliness and location

Cons:

Everything was great. The only thing was I asked the front desk if I would be able to check in early, and if I couldn’t if I could just check my bags. The person at the desk checked me in early, but seemed irritated that I asked. I didn’t care if I was checked in or not I was just asking. But everything was great.

Just a lower tier hotel accommodation with a brand
Pros:

Booked thru Amex but hotel has not been what expected. Not a single upgrade of Amex travel was granted.

Everything in the room was unplugged so needed to move furniture and stuff to have a lamp light at 3am

Room is quite smaller than average .On a corner of a building is understandable there are some ducts but… cmon I would expect this to be a maintenance or storage room not a family room at a top hotel.

And… no shampoo so be prepare to shower your hair with body wash.

Absolutely Terrible Valet Service – Vehicle Damaged and Responsibility Denied
Pros:

Absolutely Terrible Valet Service – Vehicle Damaged and Responsibility Denied
I am extremely disappointed with the Metropolis valet service provided by Metropolis at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile.
My mother and I traveled all the way from New Jersey to Chicago to attend a family funeral after the passing of our uncle. The last thing we expected during such a difficult time was to have our vehicle damaged while entrusted to valet staff.
When we arrived at the hotel, our vehicle was in excellent condition. There were no dents, scrapes, scratches, or damage of any kind. We handed our vehicle over to valet and waited while it was parked.
The following morning, after checking out of the hotel, we experienced another red flag when the valet took an unusually long time to retrieve our vehicle. When the car finally arrived, we immediately noticed a fresh dent and yellow paint transfer between the front and rear passenger-side doors. The damage was obvious and had not been there before.
We immediately reported the issue and requested to speak with the operating manager, Oscar J. Dominguez Medina, and did an incident report. We showed him the dent and the yellow paint that had clearly transferred onto our vehicle. Rather than investigating the matter, he immediately became dismissive and claimed there were no yellow bollards or yellow barriers in the garage that could have caused the damage. He also stated there were no cameras available to review the incident.
This explanation made absolutely no sense. I personally walked through the parking garage afterward and saw numerous yellow barrier posts throughout the facility. Several of them even appeared damaged and partially lifted from the ground, suggesting they had been struck multiple times before. The yellow paint left on our vehicle matched exactly what you would expect from contact with one of these barriers.
To make matters worse, Metropolis ultimately denied my mother's claim and insisted that the vehicle arrived with the damage already present. This is completely false. We drove the vehicle from New Jersey to Chicago ourselves and are very familiar with its condition. The car was clean, well-maintained, and free of dents or scrapes before it was handed over to valet.
Instead of taking accountability, conducting a proper investigation, or treating customers with honesty and respect, Metropolis chose to deny responsibility despite the visible evidence. The entire experience felt dishonest, dismissive, and incredibly frustrating.
If you value your vehicle, I strongly recommend avoiding this valet service. Entrusting your car to Metropolis may leave you dealing with vehicle damage, denied claims, and management unwilling to accept responsibility.
Vehicle damaged. Claim denied. No accountability. Completely unacceptable.
