Every room at The Talbott, Autograph Collection, provides a flat-screen TV with HD channels. Individual climate control system are also included. Some suites offer an armoire and a living area with a sofa. For a truly memorable dining experience, our hotel restaurant, Laurel, presents delightful Mediterranean-inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In-room dining services are also offered for guest convenience. A state-of-the-art fitness center and flexible meeting space are all available on-site. Laundry services, including valet dry cleaning, are offered. Navy Pier, Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago are all 1.5 miles away from the hotel. Beautifully renovated, boutique charm, great location
Pros:

New renovation is beautiful. The staff was so helpful and detail oriented. The Laurel restaurant is amazing as well.

After hours arrival was difficult
Pros:

If you’re arriving late, be aware that after-hours access may be challenging. My flight was delayed, and I arrived around 1:30 a.m. I had already requested and received a mobile key, but discovered that the hotel’s front entrance was locked and the mobile key does not unlock the front door.

I spent approximately 20 minutes outside on the street ringing the doorbell and repeatedly calling the front desk, which required navigating a lengthy phone tree each time. Eventually someone let me in. I was told that I should have called sooner and that waiting outside while ringing the bell and calling the hotel was essentially the expected after-hours process.

For a Marriott Autograph Collection property, I found this disappointing. A mobile key should either provide building access or guests should receive clear instructions before arrival explaining exactly how to enter the hotel after the lobby is locked.

The room itself is clean and comfortable. However, business travelers should know that it is quite small and does not include a desk or dedicated workspace.

Uncomfortable queen mattress and low water pressure
Pros:

Great location, excellent front desk staff, and valet service.

My room is on the 16th floor, and the shower water pressure is extremely low. I stayed in a two-queen room, and the mattresses were quite uncomfortable. It seemed the mattresses were not replaced during the renovation.

One additional note regarding breakfast: the menu advertises fresh-squeezed orange juice, but it did not appear to be fresh-squeezed. I would recommend updating the description to better reflect the product being served.

I love the charm and location. It has been home to me for many years when I'm in Chicago

I love the Talbott and have been a guest many times over the past 40 years. My husband and I brought our children there many times as well. It feels like home and the location is excellent for us.

Cons:

This trip was with a couple of notable distractions for me. The plumbing in the bathroom was very noisy. I actually was awakened early by a neighbors use of sink, toilet or shower??? not sure which making lots of loud noises and for several minutes at least.
In addition, the mattress was not very comfortable after this most recent remodel.

The Talbott was recently refreshed and the makeover is chic! I stayed in room 1605, which is a quiet room on the top floor and tucked away from the main hallway. This was a larger room with a king bed, couch, and a chair. One unique touch was the overhead recessed lighting. In the room there are bathrobes, Nespresso machine, Grown Alchemist products and plenty of outlets. I pleased to see the addition of the water stations located near the elevators on each floor. Your amenity fee includes 2 drinks at the bar in the lobby, which includes non-alcoholic options like Evian sparkling water. Come check out the updated Talbott!
