Booked penthouse was unavailable. We booked it for the two bedrooms. Said a guest was ill and required an extra night. Duty manager promised access the next day at 11am. We changed out plans to remain at the hotel and get access. Was not ready until the evening. On being granted access to the room, it was damp, bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke. Loud commercial air fresh machine was working hard. The penthouse had a hot tub. It was cold. Eventually sorted. But that only left 24 hours to enjoy the room that was an expensive booking. Very poor.

As much as the property and location is beautiful, I would not recommend staying in penthouse room 302 during winter. It

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant from the porters to maintenance and the turn down staff.

Cons:

Upon arrival - the penthouse was beautiful but room 302 was absolutely freezing. The AC does not heat up the suite, the electric curtains in the dining room were broken and could not be closed and the AC in the second room sounded like a tractor.

Very good stay at Houghton Hotel
Pros:

Lovely hotel, staff and the suites with Jacuzzi were very good fun. Beautiful views.

Cons:

The Jacuzzi water wasn't very clean or hot and they were a bit tired. We had to wait for our room to be ready till almost 3pm which was not great after a long flight.

Gewoon perfect!
Pros:

We werden opgehaald van het vliegveld en vanaf minuut 1 was het genieten. Na een rondleiding werden we naar onze prachtige kamer (meer een appartement) gebracht, werkelijk prachtig!!! Ruim 300 m2, 2 slaapkamers met elk een badkamers en een jacuzzi op het terras. We hebben genoten van een zeer goede massage, heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant en daar na met een bubbel de jacuzzi in. Als we weer eens een overnachting in Johannusberg nodig hebben, gaan we hier weer heen.
