Nice hotel.stayed on way to Cornwall to break our journey there and back.very cosmopolitan hotel.
Pros:

Nice room.clean.big space in room.fairly quiet.good breakfast.enjoyed room service meal .

Cons:

Beds were a bit hard.husband could feel springs as he lay down but put a towel under his back which helped , but perhaps hotel could provide a simple wool bed topper to extra cushion the bed for people if they request it to make it not so hard.we took our own for myself as we always do and used it for me.It did help a bit.

Lovely staff and great breakfast
Pros:

The breakfast was amazing I was very impressed and it took away the disappointment of facilities, staff very accommodating and helpful cannot fault the customer service.

Cons:

I paid extra for a better room yet it was not impressive it was very small not like the online photos and the only difference to a standard is decoration with topped up fridge and robes in bathroom also coffee machine is a cheap one not a decent one,the jacuzzi was out of order which we wanted to relax and the sauna was like being sardines in a tin can also the gym was very small again misinterpreted on website which makes it look bigger. However this being said we would stay again just for the breakfast and lovely staff. Also clean. Also bath would fill up when having a shower as the plug hole was not emptying.

Pros:

Easy to book, staff were welcoming, the room was very clean and the bathroom was lovely 😍

Cons:

The windows didn't open, not even a little bit 😞 the TV channels were very poor, we ended up watching some police programmes 🙄 for the price there shoukd at least be Netflix, we stayed at a b&b in Somerset for £70 a night and there was Netflix plus other good channels....
There was only 2 teabags 😱 I'm a typical English lass who needs at least 3 cups of tea before I even start speaking when I wake up.

Great location, good food but a disappointing room
Pros:

Breakfast and location both good and good parking

Cons:

Requested a room with just a shower and we were allocated a pleasant room but with the shower over the bath. We were given complimentary drinks while we waited for the room to be changed, which was good.
The new room had an excellent bathroom but the room was smaller and dark.
We then realised that the Aircon wasn't working but fans had been provided.
The windows wouldn't open and weren't fixed until after midday on the following day, so all the fans were doing was stirring up the stale air.

We loved the quiet and relaxed elegance of the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. They obviously enjoy working at the hotel! The food was excellent. Had a swim in the indoor pool. Loved it. Definitely going back!

Another happy and comfortable stay at Mercure Exeter Southgate - thank you and fully recommend!
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent. Despite the AC not working, the bedroom was not too warm, and the fan certainly helped. The staff were very accommodating and cheerful, and the rest of the hotel was not hot. The fact that we were not charged for parking and were offered a drink on arrival certainly went a long way to mitigate the lack of adequate ventilation in our room. However, had our visit coincided with the warmer temperatures earlier in the week, I do not think we could have coped so well.

Cons:

The family room 175 was tight - we chose it for the settee. However, it was too static and clearly intended for use only as a bed. Deconstructing it required a member of staff to do the magic. This room did not seem as spacious as the room we stayed in on a previous visit, although the toilet and shower area were significantly better. The huge bed was very, very comfortable indeed - full marks for that!

Could be fantastic but sadly falls short of expectations.
Pros:

This place should deliver and has so much potential but is let down by poor maintenance and a long overdue make over.
I end up here often for business and keep thinking it must improve but there’s always issues.
Yet again no Air Conditioning, issues with the jacuzzi and while the rooms themselves are serviceable, for the prices charged it is becoming somewhere now I look to avoid which is a shame because I do like the pool and the location.
A display in reception tonight promised some
cosmetic enhancements coming up for the rooms but if the basic maintenance issues cannot be sorted then this won’t help.
Additionally the car park now at £16 a night is becoming a joke.
The staff always seem to be trying their best but the constant apologies don’t make up for a good nights sleep unfortunately.
