Lovely staff and lovely room
Bit warm in the room but possibly my fault for not checking the air conditioning.
There was a terrible smell in the corridor on the way to our room, very musty old smell. It looks like there was new carpets/refurb going on and when we arrived at our room w head to walk past lots of old fitting and carpet with a man sat on it and legs crossed and we had to near enough be next to him before he moved for us. We have stayed here many times and always enjoys our stay and the facilities and also how the staff make us feel welcome and always do everything they can to add little touches.
Talking of facilities though, we went for a swim as usual and were disappointed to see the jacuzzi was out of order. Hopefully the next time we stay everything will be freshened up and working x
Staff helpful in dealing with problems. this is a roomy hotel. The location was excellent for me. The gym was well-equipped and accessible.
On trip 1 I had a room with a broken fridge, but did not realise for two days by which time the contents were not good. On trip two the coffee machine was broken and subsequently replaced.
Location is great.
Room is a good size.
Could have provided more coffee in the room.
There was a bulb missing in the bathroom.
The sofa was old/tired.
It was hot!!
The reception/downstairs is up to date but the room hadn't been touched in 100 years - marks/gum on the carpet, thin towels, headboard marked mattress and duvet old - plenty of other places to stay as an alternative. Staff well aware of the need for a refurbishment of the rooms. Downstairs - great, which is why I chose to stay (I have to be in Exeter fairly frequently) - will be staying elsewhere!
Spend some money on the rooms upstairs!
Modern clean great location
Comfy twin room reasonably close to pubs, restaurants and waterfront
Could have been a wee bit more generous with the coffee and tea in the room.
Perfect location
Great little spot for a short stay
Comfortable, clean, great location
Tv channels in room were poor and lack of movies
It's a lovely hotel in an excellent position, a short walk from the Cathedral. We paid a very reasonable price and the breakfast choices were very good. The swimming pool and gym facilities are a good bonus.
Some of the bedrooms are tired and dated but an upgrade is being carried out. The pillows were a little too big and uncomfortable. Information is provided regarding the upgrade.
Staff and cleanliness.
At 8.40 am one of your maintenance started banging next door and then started a pneumatic drill for about 20 mins. I was obviously awake and dressed but not something I expected on a Sat morning.
With the pool facilities, with the money paid, it’s expected to have a dressing gown, especially to use the pool facilities. Pillows were as thin as a ships biscuit. Room service was also late on requested time.
