Spacious, clean, kind staff!
Pros:

We had a wonderful experience at the Intercontinental!
Breakfast was delicious, rooms were clean and spacious, and the balcony was a beautiful place to relax at the end of the day. We will absolutely be returning! Above all of that, the kindness shown by the front reception staff was above and beyond. Thank you specifically to Sam, Erica, and Gavin. Yall were the cherry on top of a beautiful hotel stay.

Hotel Employee stole from me with no repercussions
Pros:

My family and I stayed at the InterContinental Kansas City on the Plaza (InterContinental Kansas City At The Plaza) from July 31 to August 2 for a girls weekend with my kids. I bought one drink at the hotel bar, $13 plus a $1 tip, and closed my tab immediately.

Days later my credit union flagged suspicious activity on my card from this hotel. When I checked, there was a $241 pending charge I never authorized. At checkout, the Front Office Manager investigated and confirmed that the bartender had altered my $1 tip to over $200 in their system.

I filed a formal complaint, spoke with hotel management, and the corporate office. The GM’s own written response admitted to the charge being “erroneously authorized” and offered to comp my $13.56 drink (which has yet to occur). A comped drink does not address over $200 that was taken from my account without my consent.

I have since disputed the charge with my bank, filed with IHG corporate, and I am now considering a police report. It has been almost 4 weeks with no real resolution and no refund.

If this can happen to me, it can happen to any guest paying with a card at this property. Guests deserve to know their payment information is safe here.

IHG Hotels & Resorts, this needs to be made right.

Great weekend in KC!
Pros:

We're in KC with 3 kids for a business trip. My 3 young kids had the best time up in the it's concierge lounge with Don & Melinda Jones. The breakfast options were just what we needed. The beds were comfy & rooms were modern. We did have a small mini fridge. Highly recommend adding the the concierge's lounge to your reservation!!

Average expedience in an older hotel that needs more attention.
Pros:

Plumbing challenges. Toilet flush did not work. Bathroom sink drained very slowly. Staff was attentive and assisted professionally. Food was very good at breakfast and dinner was challenged.

Phenomenal team. Phenomenal service
Pros:

Our stay went very well. Great hospitality. Melinda and david in concierge did everything within their power to make our stay memorable. Ms. Roxanne and Billy were phenomenal and helped us with everything for our morning breakfast to our pool adventure. They were there to guide and serve us the entire time! I will definitely be coming again and hope that they are all working the day we do

I was very disappointed and will not be back.
Pros:

The location.

Cons:

There were stains in the carpet and sofa, dirty marks on the doors and walls. It was filthy and I felt terrible not having a clean enough space for my toddler to play. The staff was unhelpful when I brought up concerns. It did not feel well kept. Paying for parking is also ridiculous after paying to stay in the hotel. The meals took forever to be delivered.

Lost its charm and they have cheapened everything but the price
Pros:

The hotel needs a face lift and the amenities keep shrinking. They went from having the best concierge lounge to an awful one with cheep booze and bad food. The only highlight is the help is great.

Not the best IHG hotel ever, don't know how they got the title.
Pros:

I liked the swimming pool area

Cons:

The bathrooms are small, the food quality from the restaurant aren't the best quality, have to pay 35$per day for parking, no microwave in the room and the normal king room's balcony view was a bit of a ugly view. This was the worst IHG hotel I've ever visited. Was also charged incorrectly and without consent for 220$... Had a special request to make up the room for my wife's birthday on booking.com....they never got back to me and nothing was done to my room... Will have to wait a week for my incedental refund of 100$ and also the incorrectly charged amount of 220$
