Book for location, not comfort.
Pros:

Excellent location, easy to drive to, lots of restaurants and a tram stop right outside the door. Comfortable bed and pillows. Was a good price and a good sized room.

Cons:

Heating / aircon unit can not be turned off, it blows constant warm or cold air right over the bed, antiquated system. On asking for help, someone arrived very quickly, but told us "yeah, it's the downside of an otherwise nice hotel" - obviously a common complaint.
Room was tired, in need of refurbishment. Smelly drains. Freeview had around 4 working channels. HDMI sockets instead of USB sockets! £18 a day parking in a very small, tight underground basement.

Cons:

Very dirty room wasn’t clean the toilet was full of poo in and even around with no inspection. The glasses were dirty and mugs with coffee and there was only one plug socket available so only one phone charger could be plugged in at once.

We were told that we were upgraded the room we were sent to clearly had not been cleaned for a while there was dust everywhere there was only one bathrobe when we took a shower even though the shower door was fully closed water spilled out onto the floor and we had to use a large bath towel to dry it up very disappointing stay

Great hotel and staff but rooms starting to become tired.
Pros:

Food was good and staff were good

Cons:

Bath/ shower didn’t drain properly. This was corrected when raised.
Shower temperature surged to exceedingly hot during use.
Room air con not really controllable .

Not sound proof 3am staff knocked the door be of my music
Pros:

There was one thing the room was supposed to be sound proof at 3am one off the staff knocked the door and told us to keep the noise down was only playing music not to loud but the can not be sound proof

On point
Pros:

The hotel service is as always on point. Staff are always friendly and readily available to assist. The room was comfortable and clean. Always made welcome when I stay. Can't help but come back when I need time away.

Cons:

My only negative is that as a smoker it would be great to have a designated smoking area. Don't think it's a good look for the hotel for customers to be smoking outside the building.

Nice stay at the city centre at Novotel Birmingham
Pros:

Property was at the prime city centre.
Easy accessibility to nearby parking spaces.
Breakfast menu was good and tasty.

Cons:

Very limited parking spaces compared to the number of rooms available.
Not enough air-conditioning, due to which we had a lack of sleep during the night we stayed.
