Friendly staff
The bathroom was a little tired.
Beds was comfortable
Breakfast wasn't the best
We visited for a team meeting with some members of the group staying the night before. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The service was excellent - friendly staff on reception, the bar, breakfast and hosting the meeting space. All our needs were anticipated and catered for. A lovely lunch too.
Clean friendly staff, breakfast good quality
The toilet is separate to sink and shower area
Staff friendliness
Lack of heating control. The room was roasting hot but I couldn't adjust the temperature as centrally controlled. When I queried this I was given a fan!!
I love an afternoon tea, it's my absolute favourite treat and I've had a lot of really good ones but unfortunately this wasn't one of the best, not even top 20.
The service was excellent, no problems there but the food was disappointing. The sandwiches were just so-so. The scones were reheated so a little crispy on the outside, the butter cubes were too hard to spread, there wasn't really enough clotted cream and the jam was just horrid. Only the colour of it gave away that it was strawberry - it was just sugar flavour. The macarons were very good. There were two cakes but we weren't advised what they were. One, I think, was some kind of banofee, again just too sweet and the other was a small carrot cake which was stale.
Also, there was a TV playing very loudly and we were obliged to listen firstly to Bargain Hunt and then to Songs of Praise. Not what I expect at all.
Sorry, Novotel, could do better.
This is a very swanky and posh hotel and so the title of my review is Posh Tel not Novotel.
Only thing that lets it down are some of the staff in the bar and breakfast area of the hotel using the word sir to non binary, intersex and transgender people which is bigotry and discrimination despite myself emailing my pronouns and disability needs
I stayed three nights in room 418 which was fantastic and given a warm welcome by George and another staff member wearing a name badge with a Russian flag on it and got into a nice conversation with them on my love of Soviet things .
My stay was part pleasure and part business as I attended the Coventry two day pride event .
Room was fabulous and as I have lung damage I was given a fan to keep the room clean and the cleaning staff we lovely and friendly and helpful too .
Nice street view where I could people watch as I suffer from industrial deafness .
Too good to go breakfast was fabulous too the hotel does bar an older staff members bigotry and misgendering of non binary people with the constant insistence of using the word sir which is a none acceptance of Non binary, intersex and transgender people for who they truly are
Nice posh hotel and it’s restful and quiet
Spacious, well-equipped and comfortable room. Nice bar area and great location for Birmingham venues & nightlife.
The room was fine, the breakfast was fine, although a bit pricy. Everything is just fine.
Some charging points in the room would be beneficial. Room was very basic but it served a purpose. Being in the centre of Birmingham it was a bit noisy in the early hours.
There was no air conditioning.
