A gem of a hotel within a 5 minute walk to Union Station. Reasonably priced.
A special shout out to Ms.Brenda Ford Front Desk Supervisor, absolutely delightful and helpful.
It would be tough to find flaw in this property. The aesthetic, location, cleanliness, and staff were all top notch. I owe a huge thanks to the desk attendant who, when I complimented his lapel pin, went to the basement to search for one, and returned to give one to me. It was brief, but memorable acts such as his generosity, that permeated my experience.
I opted to use the train since the time to drive was comparable, but the rideshare price was about $30 more than fare. Two stops, an easy change, and six more stops (about 30 minutes total) and I was at the main station. This mean about 6 minutes walking to the property. Easily done with two small bags and a large roller (formerly a checked bag).
The lobby and other proportions are suitably historic. Smaller square footage without feeling tight or cramped; every decorative detail fit the vibe.
After a quick intro to the unlimited coffee, tea, and hot chocolate stations on the second floor, and an orientation to the attached restaurant and bar, I was rapidly roomed and ready to explore a bit. Nothing like stretching the legs after a flight.
I should’ve taken note of the earplugs provided in the restroom; not that I would’ve used them. The motorcades and emergency vehicle traffic in this area is substantial. The comfy bed and second layer of curtains helped. The curtains were not as much a barrier to strong sunlight, but definitely a help. I slept well each night.
The cleaning crews were always polite and happy to come back later. The room was tidy after each visit by this crew and fresh towels were noticeably brighter than I’ve seen at many other stays. Check it out, especially if you have business on the Hill.
We loved our stay! The 24/7 service and complimentary coffee were fantastic, and the free hot chocolate in the common area was a massive hit with my kids. Huge thanks to three standout staff members whose names we missed: the polite older gentleman at the door, the helpful lady at the front desk who assisted with our online pizza delivery, and the wonderful cleaning lady who was always proactive and showed us how to use the laundry machines. Great service all around!
Great location to museums, union station, national archives, etc. The restaurant in the hotel is amazing, great food! Loved the free coffee bar on the 2nd floor!
No microwave in the rooms, but not a huge deal.
Great location, very clean!
Gym was super small.
The front desk staff are so welcoming. Readily gave us the room even before the check in time. The room given had an impressive view of the Capitol.
None.
I like the rooms. Very nice n clean. Comfy bed. Location was awesome n super near to the union station.
No coffee maker inside room. I requested for connecting rooms but didn't get it when I reached there.
The Phoenix nailed all the important metrics. Terrific management and staff. Excellent experience in every way. Will always be our first choice for future DC visits.
Above rated
Can't complain about anything
Location across from Union Station
Tiny room, high price, dated facilities, no view
We had a wonderful stay and the staff was wonderful. The Phoenix hotel is near all points of interest. The hotel was comfortable and also had an Irish pub. The front desk and housekeeping staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived to when we sadly had to check out at the end of our stay. The GM Mr. Hill was friendly, professional and a resource of information. Food and drinks at the restaurant were great especially breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel and hope that we will have the opportunity to return in the near future.
I go to DC once a month. This is the only place I stay now after trying everything around the Capitol. Their restaurant, The Dubliner, is also one of the best places to grab a beer anywhere around.
Within sight of Union station, great location
