We had our first family vacation in years and Amara Cay was a solid choice to stay. Great suite with good amount of room, solid view despite facing the parking lot. Pool, beach area and tiki bar had awesome vibes.
Big shout outs to Lynn in the restaurant as well as Alton and Luis at the bar.
Coming from service industry, watching Lynn engage with guests with such a pleasant personality and offering suggestions to local hotspots was great to see in an era where customer service has been on a decline in recent years.
Alton and Luis at the bar area were amazingly friendly, greeting our party with kind smiles each visit. They were both great with our kids repeatedly going up for Shirley Temples and virgin Pina Coladas and always granting the extra cherries to keep them happy.
Food was great when we ordered from the restaurant or room service with healthy portions and reasonably priced for a resort.
Overall amazing few days in Islamorada thanks to the staff and accommodations at Amara Cay!
Nice modern spacious feel to property.
There was a damp smell on our floor (4). Pool was too hot. Parts of bathroom were a bit worn
Finally I can have a room on the first floor .
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. We originally booked a room with 1 bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. However, the air conditioning in our room was not working properly. It was extremely loud, the temperature could not be adjusted, and the room was freezing cold all the time with unbearable noise.
Instead of properly fixing the issue, the hotel took four hours to do nothing. By the time they finally responded, it was already dark. The maintenance process was slow, and the technician was clearly not professional or effective in resolving the issue.
Eventually, we were moved to another room, but the new room had no living room, no kitchen, and only one bathroom. The hotel only offered a $75 compensation. This makes no sense. Why wasn’t the adjustment calculated based on the actual rate difference between the room types? We paid nearly $1,000 for this stay — is this really the level of service a guest should expect?
The difference between the two rooms is clearly not just $75. We paid for a specific room type and amenities, but the hotel failed to provide what we originally booked. The lack of responsibility, poor communication, and ineffective problem-solving made this experience extremely frustrating.
When I got home, I discovered numerous itchy red spots all over my limbs. I strongly suspect there were bugs in the hotel bed, and the condition still hasn't cleared up. This was absolutely the worst hotel experience I’ve had in years.
The resort could be a five star, but they fall short. First impressions when you walk in, you’re thinking this place is really nice, but then looking a little closer you notice the furniture in the lobby is stained and dirty looking. The lobby bar is missing a fixed barstool, you can see by the floor that has holes in the tile that it was removed. A hanging chair that is fixed to the floor, on the bottom, was missing an anchor.
The pool area has a lot of iguanas that are unafraid and will swim and deficate in the pool. After multiple couples reporting it to staff, in a span of 30 minutes, it took a phone call to the main vacation resort operator and they called the resort and then it was taken care of. The pool is also shallow all the way around so the water gets very warm, and cloudy on a summer day. No one to take drink orders around the pool, you have to go to the tiki bar and get it yourself.
The rooms are nice, the beds comfortable. Nice mirror in the bathroom, however the tub drain stopper was broken, the toilet lids aren’t soft close, which is no big deal, but I’ve been in less expensive places that have those. Some musty areas in the hallways.
It’s nice you can take a shuttle to the sister resorts. Three Waters resort has a nicer pool and also a soft serve cream shop. They also have servers who will come to you so you don’t have to get up from your chair. Overall Amara Cay Resort is a pretty nice place, but not over the top like it could be.
we had a wonderful stay and loved our king sweet room facing the pool. MK was a pleasure who helped us with our paddle boards and bikes. We can’t wait to come back.
Mk was very nice to us and we had a homy feeling
Terrible experience and horrible customer service. We will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
From the moment we arrived, the staff had an unfriendly attitude. Before our stay, we requested a room with a bathtub, but our request was not honored. We also asked for an early check-in, explaining that I am pregnant and wanted to rest. Despite this, there was no effort to accommodate us, and our room was not ready until just five minutes before the standard check-in time.
This trip was supposed to be a special babymoon for my husband and me, but the hotel made no effort to make our stay comfortable or memorable.
At checkout, we were informed about the resort fee. When we asked what it included, we were told it covered amenities and a water shuttle. However, no one mentioned the water shuttle at any point during our stay or at time
Of check in. Had we known about it, we would have used it. It was very disappointing to find out about this benefit only as we were checking out.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and failure to accommodate even simple requests made this a very disappointing experience.
Beautiful location , staff were very nice and attentive, pool could have been a little cooler but it’s summer . Food at restaurant was good . Only complaint was front desk was rude, not sure I would return based on front desk alone
So fun, the kayaking and paddle boarding was amazing, we love MK and Kadesha
The bikes were really fun to ride moya-Kay
Pool und allgemein Aussenbereich traumhaft
Ein Zimmer war feucht. Das andere gut
MK and Tanya were very friendly and helpful when we rented fishing poles to fish off the dock.
…
I was charged twice for my stay and can’t get a response from the resort.
Amazing!! Moya Kay was so helpful and sweet. Gave my 3 year old a snow cone afterwards.
Wonderful people, amenities and location. Miss Lilly was super helpful at the restaurant. MK helped us make beautiful tie dye t-shirts to take our memories of the blue/aquamarine waters home!
Customer service was amazing from chk-in at the front desk to tiki bar. Everyone was super friendly
