Overall, a lot of issues that we could not overlook.
Pros:

I liked the location of the property.

Cons:

WiFi did not work so throughout the entire stay we could not use our phones at the hotel or Netflix on the tv. Our room was poorly cleaned, and our bed was poorly made. I ordered my girlfriend a picnic basket that was supposed to come on the second day of our trip. It came on the first night and ruined the surprise for her. Staff did not make us aware of the water conditions by the shore/ did not make us away of the bacteria from previous storms that made it unsafe to swim in. Phones did not work in the room so we were not able to order room service or call the front desk in case we needed anything. The hotel itself was in poor condition inside of the hallways. At 10:45 am staff members were already knocking on the door to ask us to leave - check out is not until 11am. Many things were wrong with this stay unfortunately- for the price not worth it.

Be prepared ...
Pros:

Ask if the are under necessary repairs before you go ... we had the worst experience ever. We have visited Islamorada many times before and have tried different hotels ... I recommend the rest of them not Amara Cay Resort.

Avoid! Flooded : Ceilings down
Pros:

Flood damaged! Go to Cheeca Lodge. It’s way better. The hotel is flooded by a sprinkler: ceilings are down, carpets wet and a bit smelly; noisy multiple dehumidifiers are going constantly in first, second and third floors with workmen removing skirtings etc,. After booking a seaview with loveholidays, we were gives a very limited partial seaview. Nice enough but not what was booked. We were then told there would be a $75 a day resort charge! This was to cover pool, kayaks, paddleboards etc ., but no reduction was given when we could only use them one day in six. We were told that there was more going on at the two sister hotels, so went on our first full day to the Three waters. However, on arrival, I cut my foot on glass at the pool area. Staff were helpful and gave first aid to stem the bleeding and gave butterfly stitches to close the wound. This meant I could not use the pool and as the glass had been embedded deeply, spoiled the holiday due to risk of infection. Staff were mostly helpful , resort nice enough but not nearly as nice as many others in the area and a total dump inside at the moment. Our tv was also not working either and had to get maintenance to fix it. Guests should not be expected to stay in this and definitely not be expected to pay a resort fee ! A refund should be given instead.

Family vacation and fun activities
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay! The rooms were beautiful, and having access to all three resorts gave us so many options. There were endless activities and amenities to keep the kids entertained.

A special shout-out to MK and Emanuel, who were absolutely fantastic with the kids! They helped with kayaking, building sand castles, running obstacle courses, bikes, and tie-dye activities, making our stay even more memorable.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable snorkeling experience, be sure to book with Captain Jordan at Amara Cay. He took us to the lighthouse. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the trip fun for everyone while helping us safely explore the incredible marine life and crystal-clear waters.

The location is unbeatable, with breathtaking views of the lighthouse, and the hotel itself is spotless. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. We can’t wait to come back!

Family Vaca at Amara Cay
Pros:

We had our first family vacation in years and Amara Cay was a solid choice to stay. Great suite with good amount of room, solid view despite facing the parking lot. Pool, beach area and tiki bar had awesome vibes.
Big shout outs to Lynn in the restaurant as well as Alton and Luis at the bar.
Coming from service industry, watching Lynn engage with guests with such a pleasant personality and offering suggestions to local hotspots was great to see in an era where customer service has been on a decline in recent years.
Alton and Luis at the bar area were amazingly friendly, greeting our party with kind smiles each visit. They were both great with our kids repeatedly going up for Shirley Temples and virgin Pina Coladas and always granting the extra cherries to keep them happy.
Food was great when we ordered from the restaurant or room service with healthy portions and reasonably priced for a resort.
Overall amazing few days in Islamorada thanks to the staff and accommodations at Amara Cay!
