I would not stay at a Double Tree again anywhere.
Pros:

Very little actually. Brandon at the front desk was very nice.

Cons:

I guess it’s technically in the Historic District but it was quite a walk. Room was dirty (hair in the shower, smell of rubbing alcohol was strong, needed vacuuming, stains on the towels)Closet doorknob came off in my hand when I went to hang clothes. Toilet seat broken which maintenance was unable to fix during our stay. $25/day for parking seemed predatory since half the lot was empty. Breakfast not included and what was served for $17/person was not very good.

Hotel spoiled our stay
Pros:

The location of this hotel is probably the only good thing.

Cons:

There are a couple of things that we definitely didn't like. First, I need to mention the problems we experienced with the AC at night. It seems like after 11:00 pm the hotel adjusts the AC settings by themselves. There's no remote control for the AC in the room, the only thing is the thermostat on the wall. So, it would show 72 but it felt like 76, I'd change it to 68, it would start running and then stop and would not run again. I was waking up three to four times a night just to change the temperature on the thermostat manually, because it would always show 72 despite of me setting it at 68, which tells me the hotel was adjusting it. Had I read it in some reviews, I would have never chosen this hotel.
We addressed this problem with the front desk after the first night experiencing it. The maintenance came quick, changed thermostat, but the issue never was cured. It was the same change of temperature in the evening, which means it's the hotel management was doing that, so be aware.
The restaurant downstairs was open at 4:00 pm, but the cook wasn't showing up on time to cook food.
Another major complaint we had is the smell of marijuana coming from the bathroom vent. We complained to the receptionist and she said she'd send someone to check the hallway. We haven't heard back from her.
The sounds from the hallway are very loud in the room itself, especially in the middle of the night.

The breakfast buffet looked like Holiday Inn breakfast which is usually included there, but here they were charging $17 per person for eggs and oatmeal and breakfast burito.
All in all, this hotel is like a 2 start hotel, not the 4 start as they position themselves.

Good location, Parking in hotel lot is $24/day.
Pros:

Good location. Easy walk into historic St Augustine

Cons:

Room needed a microwave. We had to pay $24/day for parking which IMO is ridiculous in this type of hotel. It was just a regular lot w no added security. That seems excessive.
