Fabulous! would recommend a stay in heritage Melbourne, with all the comforts of a modern hotel
Pros:

Amazing room we were upgraded to king room. The room was perfectly heated for a Melbourne winter night. No noisy heating unit, fresh air was an added bonus since the sound proof shug in front of the heritage window allowed air flow. Really important if you are seeking fresh air in a hotel room.
It was so soundproof I couldn't hear the trams passing by. Fabulous outlook onto the heritage Parliament building on Spring Street. The breakfast was outstanding with a fabulous selection, order only breakfast, no buffet.

A cold noisy night….
Pros:

The staff were good but it felt like they were a little understaffed compared to our previous visits- there was no doorman at the front door or concierge.

Cons:

The first night we were kept awake by the techno music coming from the Imperial hotel on Bourke St until 5:30am in the morning. In addition our junior suite had no heating working and a couple of portable air conditioners which only blew cold air. We were freezing the first night with no extra blankets in the room. On a winter’s night in Melbourne this is unacceptable. We did get moved to another suite on the second night which had heating and was thankfully peaceful, but I am honestly considering whether we would stay here again. I have stayed many times at the Windsor and always found the experience an absolute pleasure but not this time.

Pros:

Love the charm of the original building, with the furnishings. Our room was large, clean and a very comfortable bed. The staff were very responsive when we needed something.

Cons:

Our room was a bit cold, not sure if it was a central heating issue or just our room where the heating wasn’t working. We were provided with a heater and extra blanket for the bed.
