Unfortunately, there was not a single thing to like about this property.
The ac seemed broken in the lobby. The odor in the rooms was horrible. The worst part was the dirtiness of the rooms. When we arrived we got assigned a room that when we walked in we tried to turn on the light and it was broken so we had to use the bathroom light. The jet tub was filthy. There was freshly yellow puddle stains, a black ring around the tub and hair in the tub. The tube was also clogged with long hair and the stopper was broken. There was also a lot of gnats. We went to open the blinds since the lights were broken and the whole pole fell as it was broken. All this within a few minutes, i went to the guest service desk and requested a new room. We got assigned a new room that we went to. When we walked in it also had a horribly strong odor. I checked the tub and again it was as very dirty. There was hair all in the tub and it looked grimy. There was also a ton of gnats in there. The sofa chair had stains all all on the seat that looked liked leak stains of some sort. When we pulled down the sheets, there was blood under the sheets. It was so disgusting. I went back to guest service and let them know i would not be staying there and would like a refund. I had to argue this but they only agreed when i mentioned the blood. I was in and out of that building without about 15 minutes. I assumed it would be a decent place as it hate the Hilton brand. NEVER AGAIN.

The wait time for checking in was about 45 min and the lady at the front desk was unprofessional and looked like she didn’t want to be there or help. Maybe I don’t blame her as much because they should have had 2 people ac the desk checking people in but or room was not ready and we needed up getting what I think was an accessible room. The room was climate controlled at 68 degrees and it was sticky and gross the entire time , the shampoo and body wash in the shower was completely empty and all around this was not a nice clean hotel.

Needs maintenance care. You could see paint chips in the wall when you walked into the lobby it was hot like the AC was out. Had an elevator down.
The front desk clerk was nice enough to cxl our reservation.
We were advised the cars get broken into nightly and they dont have any security to prevent this

This location near sat airport has been gradually going down both in facility upkeep and service. Both /all elevator was out of service last friday . Saturday and Sunday and longer. The ac in-room on 4 th floor corner nw was leaking and carpet wet. So maybe mold. The front desk manager at Friday night checkin only offer one continental breakfast for two diamond hilton guests. This the first time this has happened to me in my lifetime (20 year + as hilton members).
So i had to take the stairs with my luggage to four floor. Yes do that in a third world country. So it seems that this location is setting on standards as such. 5/1/2026. HGI SAT.

Hated it. Rate it a zero. My husband and I stayed there and upon arrival there was no one at the front desk, when we finally got our room the room was not clean. Had a booger on the wall next to the bed there was a roach in the bathroom sink the blanket and top cover were dirty as if someone else had slept on it and the housekeepers did not chamge them. The room smelled moldy and they had no breakfast. This hotel should be ashamed to call itself The Hilton garden inn they should named it motel 6. Will never go back there. There was one housekeeper that was very nice and sweet and she talked to us and she even stopped cleaning a room to come change out our covers. Tania thank you for your help sorry you have to work in such a bad hotel blessings to you. Front desk guy doesn’t know what he is doing he kept asking for help.
Supportive and nice Staff
Elevators were in maintenance (not working), no light at parking lot, telephone not working and had to go down to front desk asking for towels since there were not towels at the bathroom.

We have stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn multiple times because it’s convenient for our needs and has always been an easy option for us. Unfortunately, our last two stays have been disappointing enough that I felt the need to leave a review.
Both times, the rooms did not seem properly cleaned. On our most recent stay, there were wads of hair left in both the bathtub and bathroom floor from a previous guest. Seeing something that obvious left behind really made me question how thoroughly the rest of the room had been cleaned, which was honestly pretty gross and uncomfortable.
The air conditioning units were also an issue during both stays. They were very loud and did not cool the room well, which made sleeping less comfortable than it should be.
One reason we like staying here is the convenience of being able to go downstairs, have a drink at the bar, and walk back to our room without having to drive or get an Uber. Unfortunately, the bar was closed both times we stayed recently, which took away one of the main perks for us choosing this hotel.
Also worth mentioning: the elevator was broken during our last stay, and we had to take the stairs to the third floor. This personally wasn’t a huge issue for me since I usually take the stairs anyway, but it could definitely be inconvenient for other guests.
We keep coming back because of the location and convenience, but after two disappointing stays in a row, I’m hoping management addresses the cleanliness, maintenance, and amenity issues.
Had some issues checking in the first day- some issues with the room here and there nothing major , quiet atmosphere everyone kind of minds their own , location was great about 15ish minutes each way to market square ,aquarium & river walk - we tried to stay out as much as we could with everything going on but the saving grace was Miss Alesiah W . She got right on the inconveniences and had such a great attitude always smiling and handling up. Made sure we were okay everyday after that and was so attentive.
I would give her alone , 5 +stars !

My experience at this hotel was phenomenal, mainly because of the staff. Especially Alesiah. She was running around doing everything with a smile on her face, much like the staff. Ill definitely be coming back everytime im back in San Antonio.
Check-In: After a long flight the last thing I want to do is wait for extended times for check-in. I walked in the hotel and the chlorin smell from the pool about took my breath away. 1 customer was being helped and I waited my turn. There seemed to be a problem with the person checking in. I waited for 20 minutes before two more people came from the backroom. After another 10 minutes 1 of them said I can take you over here, REALLY! I was checked in for 2 days, 1 elevator was broken, they only have 2. The floor in the room was not vacuum as rocks rolled under my feet. The bar area closed. The restaurant was just a short order cook. Theres nothing around the hotel within walking distance besides a gas station and a card room. I had an early flight and the night manger kept saying he could not check me out without running a night report. This place is outdated, bathroom was terrible, and no customer service. I would not recommend to anyone.
The front desk staff was amazing and helpful.
Rooms are completely outdated. Chairs had holes and stains in them. There was also a smell throughout the hotel and especially in my room that was unpleasant
