I am currently a guest at the Hotel Indigo St. Louis Downtown, and, unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing. The property appears to be in poor repair, with limited in-room amenities and an exceptionally small shower that felt below expectations for a hotel operating under the Hotel Indigo and IHG brand.
I understand the hotel recently emerged from receivership, which may help explain what feels like a significant lack of investment in the property. However, regardless of ownership transitions, guests reasonably expect a baseline level of quality, upkeep, and service.
Most concerning was my interaction with the daytime front desk staff member, who was remarkably rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Hospitality begins with customer service, and this interaction set an unfortunate tone for the stay.
The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. Although marketed as full service, it appears to operate with a single employee serving simultaneously as both cook and server, resulting in what feels more like a self-service setup than a restaurant experience. The staff member seemed understandably overwhelmed and frustrated by the circumstances, which points to broader operational issues rather than individual fault.
Overall, I cannot recommend staying here in its current condition. Based on this experience, I believe IHG should closely evaluate whether this property is presently meeting the standards expected of its network and brand reputation.
I have tried most of the downtown hotels and wanted to check this out. It is in what was probably a lovely old building as you can see by the marble entry. The rest is pretty minimal like a new College town apt building. Our double room was small with cheap furnishings but clean. Bathroom amenities are tiny with only 2 bath towels Pillows were lumpy. For the price, there are just no “extras” here to really recommend It is an easy walk to Cardinals stadium and fine if expectations are for just the basics
Room is nice and clean / safe but that is where it stops! When we arrived 2 lights were not working and neither was the phone in the room. We were told only after 3 days being here that all phones are not working (let’s hope there is no emergency cause lift can be slow to go downstairs). Lights got replaced the next day. Shower is small and you have to use the hose to wash yourself. You cannot leave it in one position to wash your whole body. The shower doors also don’t shut all the way so water will leak out of shower if you are not careful. We found the seals on side of our shower leaked also which were still not fixed after 2 days of telling them when we checked out. Apparently maintenance doesn’t work Sunday and Monday. The sink also leaked and water got all over the bench area. Housekeeping service was poor and slow with room never getting cleaned til late in arvo with some days being after 4pm. Both beds were made differently some days and we never received coffee cups for machine in room after night 1.
To make it worse after being told the night before that someone is at reception is 24/7, at checkout at 3AM the night audit was asleep in the spare office and even after yelling out we had no idea where she was. Lucky we decided to knock on the door and it was like we had woken up / startled her as she was fast asleep.
Extremely small rooms. The front door didn’t lock properly and the bathroom sliding door was broken. No refrigerator. The room was not very clean, especially the floors. The box spring had yellow stains on the side. The hotel has no parking available and we had to go out at 7am to put money in the meter. Tv didn’t work very well and the casting option didn’t work at all.
The front desk staff were very friendly but other than that a horrible experience.
Customer service was great. The front desk were very friendly. The room was clean. It was quiet. Great location from the event i had to attend
There were fingernail clippings on the carpet and it was loud, inside and outside of the hotel. The mattress frame was dirty. There wasn’t a fridge or microwave. The air conditioner worked really well though. If I had read the reviews before my stay, I probably would not have stayed here. I would not recommend this hotel.
It’s a fabulous boutique hotel. Great rooms and location for going to a Cardinals game.
The bar was extremely under stocked. But the Bartender was fabulous.
The staff was super nice and I like how close it is to things. The only down side is parking is a block away
Location
The parking, we were told by the front desk it was 20, then when we left we had to pay another 32, so a third of the hotel was in parking not happy
Good customer service
Weak floor!! No microwave!!
The location was key but parking was weird and I requested breakfast for two but was really just a 20 off voucher from a overpriced limited option menu.: breakfast was underwhelming.. would have done better to eat elsewhere
The property and staff were great. However our bathroom door handle was missing and or rooms had knats
Was told that I could check in early. Got there could not.
Elevator didn't work.
A week later still holding my deposit never will stay here again
Everything
Great location
Small rooms
Nada
Rooms are nice and modern, but no fridge, small. Front desk is not friendly at all. Surrounding area is a bit sketch. Hotel doesn’t have parking of their own so you need to drive around and try to find something that looks safe. Parking garages don’t post price and hotel front desk doesn’t help in any way other than say it’s around the corner.
After my stay at this hotel, I checked out the reviews online and discovered many negative reviews.
In almost 3 decades of business travel I have not had an experience as appalling as the one night at the Hotel Indigo in downtown St. Louis. Other than a slippery substance on a section of the floor, there was no. sign of anything wrong until around 10pm when I pulled back the covers to go to bed. In the first bed I was shock to find blood stains in the middle; it was clear what this was from. I turned to the the second bed and when I pulled back covers there were bugs crawling around. There is photo and video evidence. After I gathered my belongings I went downstairs and informed the general manager Marcus. He move me to another room, comped the room charge but also told me he would put points on my account for this unacceptable experience; the last did not occur. Needless to say I closely examined the bed in the new room, although I was very uneasy and did not sleep well. This hotel has character and has the potential to be a cool place to stay however mismanagement of the house keeping team and the management neglecting the important issue as room cleanliness and not following through are reasons to avoid this hotel. The only positive was the nice front desk staff members.
