Lovely hotel , ideally situated,clean
It was 38 degrees but had no air con or fan in rooms and none available which wasn't advertised
Location
The decor was tired and drab and there was no air conditioning in the room, public areas, bar or restaurant
We arrived close to midnight. Parking spaces were available in the large car park and we were greeted by a cheerful night porter who dealt with check in expeditiously. The bed was comfortable and the ground floor room was quiet and had everything we needed. Breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was served in the restaurant next door and set us up for the day.
Great location has been good
Standards are falling could do with a good clean and updating - we had a dog and couldn’t sleep as he was sniffing all night - extra fee is paid for deep cleaning after a dog stay
Very friendly and welcoming staff
Very poor WiFi and a mattress and pillows that were way too soggy and gave no support
Enjoyed the whole stay.

Location
The room I was given was loaded with a strong mildew smell. The only other room available did not have a working bathroom light, carpets old and looked dirty…but I took it to avoid the mildew smell. The staff were apologetic but it was disappointing and I would not stay again.
Breakfast was beautiful
That our friends paid for the same room as us but there room was a lot better newer and up to date ours was very dated
friends had a fan and we didn’t told none available
Couldn't fault our stay, this is our 4th visit + enjoy our stay every time. Comfortable room + facilities. Good was great in the restaurant served by lovely staff. Definitely be returning ☺️
Nothing not to like
Staff were very kind and helpful - especially when we needed to store medication in their staff fridge as there was none in the rooms.
Breakfast was decent for £10 when pre-ordering at reception. Dinner was great, hot and well presented. Ingredients felt fresh and home cooked.
Portion size for hot breakfast should be more - i.e. only 1 hash brown, very small portion of beans, mushrooms and only half a griddled tomato.
Biggest issue is that thee AC units in rooms were disabled - also no fans in the rooms. Very poor considering recent heatwaves.
Nothing much. Staff were friendly enough
Very shabby, needs a lot of work. Threadbare carpets, duct tape put down on carpet edges in room, bathroom floor splitting, poor maintenance, toilet was broken, air conditioning inoperable, windows and curtains were filthy, hair dryer missing
Although we are as usual invited to submit a review the fact is we stay in this hotel very frequently as a before and after stop-over for the Spanish ferry at Portsmouth. That really tells the tale-we always stay here. The staff could not be more helpful and we can park the car conveniently. The restaurant is good evening and morning and since it is virtually on the motorway we can arrive and leave with ease. 'Nuff said!!
This time we fell for a heat wave-not a common event it is fair to say. Alas, no air-con in the room-just an open window so a sticky night. This time the bed seemed a little bit small-a 'queen possibly-or maybe it was just the heat and humidity. The first time this has been an issue to be candid.Public areas have air-con I think.
Little dated but comfortable
Room was cool
SHower a little vicious
Very friendly and accommodatung welcome despite my late arrival. Had a family feel, in the morning the cleaners were working together and you could tell they loved working there.
Couldn't find my late husband Pat Crumly's photo on the jazz wall of fame. Not sure her ever performed there but lots of his jazz mates did. Dave Green, John Critchinson, Georgie Fame etc etc. 😊
