The location
The fridge required a key and key didn’t work
I recommend the Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa hotel. I was only there for a very short stay, but I would gladly return.
Pros:
Nice rooms with wood floors instead of carpeting;
A complimentary shuttle that operates within 5 miles of the hotel (including SNA airport);
Helpful staff;
Quick, good food from room service;
A mini fridge/mini bar;
Good sleep environment - pretty quiet and dark, and comfortable bed;
Oliva Farmacia toiletries;
Close to the local airport, across the street from the Orange County Museum of art, easy walk to Segerstrom Center for the Arts, South Coast Repertory Theater, and South Coast Plaza (shopping mall with lots of dining options); and
Nice grounds
Cons:
The decor was interesting, but not very cohesive or attractive in my opinion;
In-room coffee was Keurig (not tasty or environmentally friendly);
You can reserve the shuttle to return to the airport, but not for your arrival. You need to call when you arrive and if it's available, it will pick you up on the ground level in the hotel shuttle pick up area.
Suggestions:
Like most hotels, they provide individual plastic water bottles. It feels very wasteful. I'd much prefer that they have filtered-water filling stations where I could use my refillable bottle or a glass.
The name of the hotel is weirdly long.
lobby was nice
Ac did not work, parking was terrible, outdated bathroom, stains on patio carpet.
We stay in OC about 3 times a year to visit family. We have been looking for a clean, comfortable hotel with friendly efficient staff and we finally found it at Avenue of the Arts.
Our room was spacious, well appointed, and very clean and inviting. Bottled water was complimentary, and the linens and towels were soft and fluffy. Can't say enough about the staff, who over the course of 5 days were so welcoming and helpful. In particular, Jose, our valet this morning was so friendly and got us safely to the airport in about 5 minutes. These people have been trained to deliver hospitality the way it should be. Cudos to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
Location is lovely. The property sits on a small lake with a walking path around it if you feel like a stroll. There are several nice restaurants and a Starbucks nearby.
Clean and comfortable
Limited parking available
I am a frequent traveler and a Marriott Titanium Elite member, so I base my hotel reviews on both brand standards and my personal experiences.
I stayed two nights at this Tribute Portfolio hotel in Costa Mesa and had a very positive experience. I had heard good things about the property beforehand and decided to give it a try.
From the moment I arrived, the service stood out. I was warmly recognized as a Titanium Elite member and received an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite, which was a very nice surprise. The suite provided a comfortable and well-designed space that worked well for both relaxing and getting some work done.
Breakfast was provided via vouchers and served in the restaurant. There was no buffet; instead, it was a full-service, menu-based experience. The quality of the food was excellent, and the service was equally strong. I genuinely enjoyed breakfast each morning.
The location is another strength of this property. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops nearby, making it easy to walk out and find a variety of dining options. Parking was also convenient, which made coming and going simple.
Overall, this was an excellent stay with strong service, great elite recognition, and a more personalized, boutique feel compared to a traditional hotel. I would absolutely stay here again when in the Costa Mesa area.
Clean and quiet and close to airport

Nothing
This was a quiet oasis and a comfortable, luxurious hotel in the middle of a bustling city. We could walk to Southwest Repertory Theater and Southcoast Plaza. The event we visited was a short drive away. We even enjoyed walking around the lake when we had a free moment. Our balcony/deck was very private. The large room was well-appointed, and the bed was large and comfortable. Our breakfast in the neighboring restaurant, while expensive, was delicious. The parking worked out well, using our room key to come and go. If only the parking had been complimentary...
The only thing we didn't like was a lamp that seemed to pop on by itself with a motion detector, so we just unplugged it.

Location! Location! Location! Beautiful Hotel! Good breakfast comes with your room!
Location and beauty of Hotel!
Wonderful view from the room, and the room was super clean and incredibly comfortable and welcoming. Loved being able to get the breeze from the balcony. Silver Trumpet Bar is a wonderful addition and the manager and bartender were very friendly and gave great service.
