Good location and good sized rooms
It’s right above a train line so you hear the trains going during the night. They do provide ear plugs.
The location is very good. Staff were pleasant
Housekeeping was erratic. Later and later in the day. I think they may have been short-staffed. The room is quite small, and there's a strange arrangement for the bathroom which is separated from the main room by a pane of glass, so it's necessary to pull down a blind for privacy. Perhaps OK for one person, but not for a couple.
The entry for travellers on foot is difficult - a very steep flight of steps at the front, or up the also steep drive to reception at the back.
I paid up front, and didn't realise until they sent me the invoice & receipt that I had been charged a different rate for each night. The rates were 211.91, 269.18, 324.82, and 225.00. plus tax. I don't why - it was the same room each night, and I had understood that I would be charged a standard rate for the room. I think that is deceptive, and for that reason I don't think it is value for money, despite the very convenient location and the spectacular views. I was quite disappointed as I had stayed there before, and liked it.

Would’ve been nice to get a room with a view
Very disappointing experience
I just wanted to share my feedback about our recent one-night stay because we had a very bad experience.
When we checked in, Daniel was the receptionist. He didn’t explain to us that the items provided inside the room were chargeable. We used some of the items thinking they were included with our stay, especially basic things like toothpaste and a toothbrush.
If these items are not complimentary, I believe the hotel should clearly inform guests at check-in or mention it in the reservation email. Unfortunately, no one explained this to us when we checked in or checked out.
What really disappointed me was that after we returned home, money was deducted from our account for these items. We were not properly informed about these charges before the money was taken.
I feel this is very misleading and unfair to guests. If something is going to be charged separately, we should be informed clearly before using it, not find out about it only after we have already left.
I’m sharing this feedback so other guests can be careful. Please check with reception about every item in the room before using anything, even if it looks like it is provided as part of your stay.
Very disappointing experience and definitely not what I expected. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves the way they communicate additional charges to guests.

I’ve been staying at View for 2 decades and love the generous size of the rooms, the cleanliness, the ease of getting around the city due to great public transport and, of course, the magnificent view of the harbour.
The staff have always been the hotels greatest asset as they are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The bar and restaurant are a bonus as there are limited options in this area outside business hours/days.
I really like this hotel but, I truly wish the sheets fitted the beds or that they used fitted sheets. It’s awful trying to sleep in a bed when the sheets crumble beneath you during the night.
I also wish the restaurant/ room service menu offered more diversity & healthy options with more fish, salad or vegetarian meals.
It was easy to catch the train around.
Would have liked a room facing the habour.
